No longer the 4 star Mercure level I am used to as mouldy bathroom, dirty linen and rooms. Would be zero if possible as nothing to say about this hotel that is good unfortunately. Was due to stay 2 nights but had to checkout early.

Cancelled, “unforeseen booking” - that’s weird as you must have seen my booking when you decided dump me for a government contract. I will avoid the whole chain now #lostcustomer #dontbotherbooking #letdown

We booked for the New Years eve gala and have just been told everything has been cancelled due to an "unforeseeable exclusive long-term contract", which I have since learned is a contract to house refugees from Afghanistan. I am not saying for one second that refugees should not be helped. They should. However, taking on so many when you already have hundreds of paying guests that you then have to let down both for rooms and parties, is NOT okay. Many people have been looking forward to their stay or party for a long time and now have to find alternatives at incredibly short notice during the holiday season which is an incredibly tall order. It's a very poor way to treat customers and a great way to prevent custom for the future. I am furious that we have all just been brushed aside like this. Good luck getting bookings after this contract is up, you're going to need it.

Supposed to be stopping at the hotel this coming weekend however I have been informed that this hotel is now housing financial immigrants from overseas. Southampton is my home city, I live in Europe at the moment due to work commitments but regularly use this hotel for it’s convenience. To say I am absolutely disgusted with this chain disregarding the safety of the people of Southampton for easy government cash is an understatement. The hotel and its owners are letting down both residents and tourists for taking this action. I hope that when this is over, people remember and use other hotels in the city, I for one will never use this hotel again. You should be ashamed of what you are unleashing on this city, I hope you will be held responsible for anything that happens whilst your unwanted guests reside at your hotel.
