This upmarket boutique hotel is an attractive Georgian terrace on the sea front a few hundred meters to the East of the hurly-burly of Brighton. It is obviously well-maintained on the outside, especially compared with the sometimes tired buildings along the road. The internal décor is idiosyncratic and fun. We had pre-booked a room with a sea view (otherwise, what’s the point of being in Brighton?). Our room on the third floor (lots of stairs, but we expected this) was bright and airy and up to the minute in décor and design, a huge bath taking up a large part of the room near the window. Original Georgian shutters shut out the light at night. The bed stood on a wooden plinth with sharp corners (Ow!). There was only room for one erect chair. The bed was piled with huge pillows and wedge cushions. If you removed enough cushions to actually go to bed, the only place you could put them was… in the bath. I can forgive the room designer for the excesses of the room itself. But he/she clearly lost his head when designing the wet room. This was a very small room containing a rain shower, a toilet and a tiny washbasin. It was quite impossible to shower without soaking the whole room, including the toilet and all shelves below shoulder level. Even the toilet roll was soaked. You really had to wipe the whole room down with your towel after showering. Perhaps the designer should be sentenced to live with this arrangement for a week. It is good to have a served breakfast and the quality of its elements was excellent. But being denied eggs if you have had muesli/porridge – you can only have one or the other – is a cheeseparing restriction we have never encountered in a hotel at any level.…
We stayed here for my wife’s 30th birthday and wow what an amazing place it was. Not only do you have views of brighton beach and the pier but there was a lovely bath to relax in while watching the views. There is parking on site so just make sure to check in early to get a space as it’s first come first serve but this was no problem and the staff were incredibly helpful. Lovely room service menus with plenty to choose from including cocktails, chocolates and a lovely breakfast. The room was very clean and felt they had gone above and beyond for Covid regulations.
I booked the Yin and Yang room at Drake’s for my wife’s birthday. The room is compact but really well appointed, with a great bed and a bath with view of the pier. Plus we planned to spend as much time in Brighton as possible so it was perfect for our needs. What made our stay really special were the staff though. Richard and the rest of the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they gave us detailed advice on what to see and do in Brighton and made sure that we were well looked after. Unlike some hotels they obviously took a great deal of pride in making sure their guests were looked after. The breakfast is great too. I’d happily recommend staying at Drake’s to anybody.
Fab location for a weekend in Brighton - sea views from the bar were wonderful for post dinner drinks watching the sun go down. Easy walk to the beach, pier, tower, pavilion and Lanes. Our room had the hugest bed I have ever seen and a view of the pier, as well as a hidden dressing area so that all one's luggage and belongings were hidden. Coupled with a relaxing sofa and a stand alone bath it was really luxurious. The icing on the cake was the warm and welcoming staff at all times of the day and evening. Oh, the breakfasts to the room were also delicious. All round excellence!
Lovely hotel on seafront, close to town and had a wonderful weekend break. Breakfast was excellent, really comfy beds and modern clean rooms. What made the stay excellent were the staff. We were greeted and helped to park, helped with the luggage to our room and given the warmest of welcomes by a lovely young man and the waitress at breakfast was truly excellent too. Many thanks.
Great hotel! My partner booked the hotel on website with ease. I was worried about securing parking but no issues as parking super close to site. Great location. Friendly helpful staff very pleasant. Nice looking and clean comfortable room. Loved the lovely touches (robe, slippers, beautiful toiletries to mention but a few) definitely thought of customers Not one slight issue at all. We will definitely be back again when staying in Brighton. Thank you ☺️
Lovely modern rooms in a listed building on the waterfront. The room seemed much bigger than the size would suggest due to excellent design. Great food, wonderful friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended; I’ll be back.
From the moment we stepped inside the hotel you felt very comfortable. All of the staff were so friendly, chatty, polite and helpful and went out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay. The room was exceptionally clean and the in room facilities were excellent too.Breakfast was good and again staff were very pleasant. The barman made great cocktails especially the porn star martini.Would definately recommend.Parking was easy £15 per night which when you consider £4 for 2 hrs in town is not too bad.5 mins walk to pier and lanes.Would definately stay here again.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The welcome by staff was lovely and made you feel completely at home. Throughout the stay they couldn’t do enough for us. Always cheerful and willing to chat. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Rooms comfortable and spacious. We had two armchairs in the bay so we could sit and look at the sea. Bathrooms very modern with rainfall showers and luxury toiletries. They even off per to give plates etc if you order a takeaway to be delivered to the hotel. Cant recommend this hotel highly enough. Great value for money. We loved every second of our stay. We were on the ground floor which was great, but stairs to higher floors were a bit steep and no lift as the building is listed.
Walking into the hotel, I was greeted immediately at the front desk. Friendly and helpful, no matter who I spoke with during my stay! I had booked a small water view room which was absolutely beautiful. I loved that the window could be open to let in the fresh sea breeze! There was traffic noise as the hotel fronts a busy street near the amusement pier, as well as the sea, but that wasn’t a bother to me. I slept very soundly on the comfortable bed, although again the street noise was evident. My room was on the second floor, which was accessed by a spiral staircase that did trigger my fear of heights as you could see all the way down! No matter, the hotel and room were so lovely. To top it all off, there were cozy waffle robes and slippers which was a pampering touch that was much appreciated! I highly recommend this hotel.…
