Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Village Hotel Bournemouth presents a lively atmosphere, though the energetic vibe may sometimes be marred by noisy gym tunes and events. Guests have called out the hotel for its prime location, yet opinions on service and value are divided; praise for the friendly staff contrasts with critiques of service lapses and questionable costs. While visitors appreciate the clean rooms and amenities like the pool and gym, noise disturbances and a need for room updates are recurrent concerns.

Stayed for 3 nights in Sept 2020. If you are familiar with Village hotels, this is a copy and paste of some of them (which is handy for finding your way around. Its a bit out of the city, right next to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Room was nicely equipped, very comfy bed, big TV, large shower. The USB charging ports beside the bed in the room didnt work, as did a standard plug on the other side of the room. But in general, a thumbs up for the room.

We decided to stay the hotel that night for food after a long journey. Unfortunately the main restaurant is closed during covid, which was really disappointing (other hotels are managing to keep their main restaurants open and its a long walk to find restaurants nearby). We ate in the bar, which had a very limited menu (its designed a bit like a sports bar and the menu seems to be to suit that). While my partner had a burger, that was really good, I chose a curry. It was dreadful, basically a small ready meal with tiny, stale poppadoms, for £14! So the advice is: just order the burgers.

Staff were friendly and at all times were they wearing face masks. Onsite Starbucks staff great too. alos onsite pool and gym, which we didnt get time to use.

The toiletries were a little disappointing, given the current covid situation. Instead of individually wrapped soaps and shower gels, you are still expected to use the containers attached to the walls, which other hotels have removed.

Having stayed at a number of other village hotels I was excited to have a relaxing weekend away with my partner, exploring the nearby new forest.

When we arrived and had to self check in (there is one person there to help at the check in points) it said to upgrade the room and had £20 in big bold writing, we agreed this would be nice and clicked it.

Now the room - this was now a club room was spacious and well decorated. The club rooms are mixed in with all the other rooms so I think the only difference is potentially access to the gym and pool and apparently a sofa / seat type thing.

The bed was huge and everything clean.

Breakfast was reasonable - scrambled egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and sausages - however the dishes they were kept in didn't really keep it warm. There was also toast, crossaints, fruit and yoghurts with a selection of apple juice, orange juice, lemon water.

The main issue I have is on the first night we couldn't get to sleep until 1am due to the loud music. OK, a one off we thought, however on the Saturday night again loud music, at 12:05 I called the reception and asked how long the loud music would last, I was told till 1am again.

On checkout I spoke to the gentleman and explained that we werent happy with the loud music till 1am and he simply replied 'yes we have events on', now I appreciate that but to have events going on until 1am two nights in a row where it can be heard from the 4th floor is not acceptable it's a hotel not an arena.

Now I have noticed that I have been charged £40 for the upgrade which was NOT clear when agreeing to at check out.

My husband booked this hotel as he was emailed a good deal and raves about the Village Hotel in Birmingham which he stays at for business.
Check-in was informative. Outside seating was pleasant as sunny. Glasses of Prosecco varied in amount and size of glass.
Room on 5th floor was hot but quiet. Had air con on and windows open, we weren’t disturbed by any noise. Room was clean and was nice to have the choice of bath or shower.
Ate in the bar on the first night as part of our deal, the food was good but the menu far too limited with very samey stodgy items to choose from.
Breakfast not great choice. Bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and beans. I did not eat any of this so can’t comment.
Morning one strawberry yoghurt only and morning 2 I did see another flavour had been added. Toast was available but cooked in big batches and all stored under heating lamps, didn’t have this so can’t comment on whether soggy. Small choice of cereals. Fresh croissants and pan au chocolate available - had one of these each morning and were great.
Coffee in a flask and tea bags available and hot water in a flask for these.
Very weird this whole Covid thing as can’t serve yourself breakfast (yes I know the Government has said this) but everybody can pour fresh juice, or push the flask down to get water or coffee and handle all the wooden stirrers?! Also handle all the tea bag packets too.
Taxi into Bournemouth and back to the hotel £12 each way.
We would stay at the right price again.
We enjoyed our stay and feel after Covid times and things go back to normal the score will be higher.

I often use hotels from the Village chain, mainly due to the competitive rates and superior facilities that they offer, this one didn't disappoint. The hotel was modern and clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was with trying to check in as it's self check-in only and when we arrived there was no one available to explain how it worked.

Rooms are a decent size with good air conditioning. We stayed on the 4th floor which was very quiet. The rooms are also fitted with soft close doors, unlike most other hotels, so you're not woken up by people slamming doors as they enter and exit other rooms. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

Location wise this hotel is 3 miles (45 minute walk) from Bournemouth pier and ideal if you want to escape the noise and bustle of the town centre in the evening and relax in peaceful surroundings.

Fitness facilities are great with a full sized pool and well equipped gym, the only criticism is the lack of air-con in the gym which made it rather uncomfortable.

Overall I would recommend this hotel if visiting Bournemouth and Village Hotels remain my brand of preference.

I was put up in this hotel due to working out of Bournemouth airport. Firstly parking is £5 extra per day.....why?? Doesn’t make sense if you’re staying at the hotel it should be free.

The rooms!! Looks like they haven’t hoovered in months and genuinely unclean very poor considering the situation with COVID, although you don’t have to worry about getting COVID because it wouldn’t survive long enough in this hotel.

Restaurant!! Can’t just walk in and book a table have to use the app even if you walk downstairs to the restaurant and try and book direct. Very poor selection on the menu and the burger was gristly. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant.

Breakfast!! Extremely cheap ingredients used and poor selection, most the chairs at the tables had food down the side of them and needed cleaning.

Overall I would avoid and would NOT recommend this hotel at all. I stay in a lot of hotels for work and this is on the bottom of the list. They need to top wasting money on massive TV’s in the rooms and more on cleaning products and the overall operation and service to there customers.

We liked
Covid precautions in place (social distance, face mask in common area).
hand sanitisers placed near exit of the lift and building.
Big and spacious rooms.
Family room had separate beds for kids.
We had offer of £40 voucher for dinner and kids eat free which was really nice, food was good too.
We were lucky, Buffe breakfast started from day we check in.

Disliked ·
No kettle/tea/coffee in the room, but they provided us on request
Not much options for vegan or vegetarian people

We stayed at the Village Hotel Bournemouth for 5 days from 17th June, upon check in, it took the hostess three attempts to check us into the room as the system wouldn't work. The room was OK, we chose one of the Club rooms (Room 417), it was clean and the shower had complimentary shampoo and 2 body washes, (no conditioner, bring your own). There is no telephone in the room and the service for both Three and ID was non existent so understand that you might have issues making calls or using the internet on your phones.
The bed was large and comfy, the view was of industrial buildings. If you stay over the weekend, there is a spin cycle class that starts at 9am on saturday, understand that you will hear the thumping beat of the music even on the fourth floor.
Breakfast was horrible, there is no other way to describe it, you have a choice of the 'buffet' that is sausage, bacon, mushrooms, beans, tomato and scrambled egg with white or brown toast. The food items are the cheapest versions that you can buy, not what you expect for the cost. The cereal options are, Fruit and fibre, bran flakes or coco pops, then the drinks are tea, coffee and orange juice.
If you order anything from the bar, you need to use the Village app or wait for a server to appear with a tablet, unfortunately the app doesn't tell you if what you order is actually served there. We ordered a cappuchino coffee, waited until finally a server came over to ask us if we wanted anything, said we had ordered a cappuchino to be told, 'oh, we don't serve those, you have to go to starbucks'. Star bucks is on the opposite side of the foyer to the restaurant, please be aware that it is not always open, it shuts at random times of the day with no notice.
Room cleaning - They don't, quoting Covid, they have stopped all room cleaning apart from after you check out, if you need toilet paper, tea, coffee etc you have to go to reception and ask the one member of staff who is checking people in and out to get you some, they then have to disappear out the back to find it for you.
If you have a complaint, they will tell you that they are sorry to hear that and then ignore you.
Overall a truly horrible hotel that should be avoided, there are much nicer options in the area.

Decided having spent a break in the village hotel in Leeds we would try village hotel in Bournemouth, as we had an amazing time in Leeds. Unfortunately upon arrival in our room I had to go back down to reception and ask for some cleaner to clean our room as there was dust on the units and the shower taps were dirty as well. The carpet needed hoovering especially around the edges and around the edges of the furniture. The soap in the bathroom for washing your hands is empty and they should be checked when guests move out. We have had to go down and ask for towels as there is nothing to put a sign out to say you need your room sorted. The lift is filthy and I’ve taken pictures of all my concerns of the hotel which is something I have never done before because I’m quite concerned given we are in the middle of a pandemic the condition of the hotel and that we have spent over £500 to stay here for three nights. I was surprised to see that the staff who are wearing masks majority of them are wearing them below their nose. There is no obligation for staff to wear them however if they are they need to wear them correctly, preferably not wearing them as constantly touching nose area then touching utensils or things around them. The chef this morning that was serving the food at breakfast wore his below his nose and he was constantly touching his mask around his nose area then picking up utensils to serve breakfast it was quite off-putting. We have also used your pool, and as you use the steps to get into the pool, you can see all the dirt/debris around the edge of the pool. I’m really surprised of the lack of cleanliness of this hotel as I would have thought it would have had a deep clean prior to reopening.

We stayed there after a great stay at another Village hotel. We upgraded to a Club room which promised gym access, booking of classes (through an app) and an upgraded experience. The hotel is pretty old (15 years old) and the club rooms don't offer much other than a big tv and a kettle for instant coffee (which is pretty standard anywhere else).

Gym access is designed to make use of extra capacity , and so hotel residents are 'tolerated' more than they are welcome. Classes can only be booked by hotel guests on the day from the gym desk, meaning they are all fully booked as gym members can book them days in advance. So we could not do any despite staying for three days. We had tried to book them in advance by phone to no avail. The rule book says no, and the staff wasn't particularly friendly,

Breakfast isn't great - horrible coffee, fatty hot and cold food, pastries and bread. That's it. No cereals, no eggs, no fruit juice, no healthier options. The breakfast room looked like a travelodge breakfast room, with every single table dirty and full of used plates and crockery. No-one had cleaned them, and there was still 30' left before closing time on a sunday morning. Despite paying for it we did not bother.

Car parking is chargeable (except at weekends).

The Premier Inn offers a better experience at a lesser cost.

A very disappointing stay and we won't return.

we stayed for 2 nights at this hotel staff all friendly and helpful room could of been a little cleaner as to current covid situation as each room door has a sticker claiming to be covid cleaned but we did find the carpets to be a little dirty but the bathroom was very clean.
All food was limited but what was on offer was very tasty a large serving on your plate well worth doing the £36 pound meal option on your add on when booking room as then you only pay extra for your drinks.
Overall we would book this hotel again.
