While the Bournemouth West Cliff Hotel & Spa boasts a prime location coveted by guests for its proximity to both the beach and city center, the establishment has received mixed reviews across various aspects. The spa amenities are often described as lackluster, with additional charges and maintenance issues dampening the experience. Service quality seems inconsistent, fluctuating between commendable hospitality and occasions of unresponsiveness.
The hotel's value is marred by unexpected fees for parking and spa features, which has left some visitors feeling nickel-and-dimed. The atmosphere and accommodations, including noise levels and outdated room decor, have also faced criticism, although the hotel maintains a standard of cleanliness recognized positively by several guests.

Detailed Reviews
Booked using a voucher for our 17 year anniversary, which was sadly over looked by the hotel, even though mentioned in a email. Additional £15.00 charged for our dog to stay, no bed or bowls provided.
The hotel Staff were lovely and friendly hotel was a great location.
Shame our room was very run down carpet was coming up in several placing even tripped up on it coming out the bathroom, shower curtain was celotaped together, bathroom light not working, telephone not working.
Room was dirty & dusty and noisy outside the window machinery below.
Spa had no towels they had a shortage apparently, but was given robes instead without being charged £5.
Dinner was a very slow process with only one waitress working, orders were coming out wrong for guests.
Asked for a chicken breast to be cooked for our puppy £7.50 charged.
Assuming the chef cooked it oil or seasoned it, out dog became extremely ill and that night we were up all night unfortunately she did mess on the carpet which we cleaned the best we could staff were understandable. Thankfully the room was very run down and needs attention.
Overall expectations were higher and were not met this time. We would definitely think about staying hear again if the right room was given.

It was a nice place to stay. Decent size pool with seperate Jacuzzi and pool area. Staff were nice and friendly and very accommodating. The first room we were offered bed was not good gave way and was sinking bathroom had tile sealing half done no ac and then toilet broke down after furst flash. However, once we reported this, two love staff at reception changed our room without any fuss. We missed breakfast and two guys who were at 10 am tidying up on Friday made us tea and some toast. Although some rooms maybe in need of some minor repair, facilities on is nice and customer service is really good. We had a lovely time there specially using the spa facilities and its only 5 mins from town centre by bus. Best wishes.

We stayed here for a short getaway and was attracted by the cheap price and spa and pool facilities.
Overall I wouldn't say this is a 4* hotel. The rooms are what let the hotel down. They really could do with being renovated. Our room was below average. It was dark, there was huge cracks in the walls, mould in the tiles by the bath. The bed was uncomfortable and there was a kettle and cups in the room but no tea or coffee (you had to request this at reception). The room was always hot, we had the windows open the whole time and we were still sweating and the heating was not on. I was really disappointed with the room and definitely but a down on our short break.
The breakfast was average. Under covid restrictions they had a good system with a continental box per person with a croissant, jam, granola bar and a full English which was hot plate which staff served to you. I'm guessing it would normal be a buffet. The hot plate meant that the food was dry and the portions were sometimes tiny because they would run out of certain things.
The main pool is free but is full of kids and not that big so you can't avoid them. We paid an extra £10 per person for the adults only pool and spa facilities which were nice. Again they had a good system with covid with cleaning stations.
Overall I wouldn't stay here again. We spent 3 nights here so would prefer if the rooms were more comfortable and contemporary. I didn't feel like the room was relaxing, it was dark and dingy.

Dear Nbollard, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we always aim to deliver, and all feedback helps us to improve for the future. I am glad to read you enjoyed the spa facilties, as you can appreciate it was half term so you would expect to see more children in the pool, I would suggest coming back when it is not half term to avoid this. Yes we are aware that our rooms are tired and we are undergoing a refresh program with bath panels, flooring and sink tops being replaced in bathrooms, bedrooms being painted, this is an ongoing process, I am sorry to read you did not like your room, we would of been more than happy to change that for you if requested. Thank you for the other comments and we appreciate you taking time to let us know your feedback. We do hope to see you again soon in the near future Kind regards Kimberley Doolan Front of House Manager

We had an amazing experience at this hotel, we were able to check in early and had a really seamless check in ( face masks were to be worn in reception). The receptionist offered face masks and sanitizers at a cost. We had such a lovely experience we had cocktails in the garden which was beautiful, our room was so comfortable clean and spacious.
The cocktail menu was lovely and the facilities in the hotel faultless. We paid £5 per person for access to the adult only spa and it’s worth every penny! It’s child free ( bonus) and is beautiful with a hot tub , whirlpool and jacuzzi!!!
We also had afternoon tea which was beautiful the staff can’t do enough to help you and we just felt totally safe and welcome. We needed to extend our parking for 4 hours on the last day and they did this for us free of charge.
The breakfast was lovely and served to you because of covid-19. We would come back in a heart beat the hotel is soooo close to everything don’t be fooled! The beach is 10 mins away max and the town centre is the same so easy to walk to!! Reception were so helpful and we can’t wait to return!!!
Would recommend upgrading room it’s worth it for a view and to be in the main part of the hotel as it’s easy to get to your room from the spa and pool!

Hotel in major need of renovation - paint chipping, scratches on wooden doors, holes in carpets, leaking roofs, hot water broke due to too many people in the spa, filthy spa area, mold in the shower in ladies changing room. The spa area is too small for the number of day spa people they allow in, also you have to pay extra to use the spa as a hotel guest at £10 per day per person which is not advertised on their website and not worth the money based on the facilities (not enough seating, sauna was cold) and cleanliness of the area. Not enough robes available for the number of people they allowed in the spa.The bedroom we stopped in had zero air conditioning so it was very hot. Staff on reception were rude to guests. When we were checking in there was someone complaining to the staff and manager and they were very rude to the customer. Staff also turned off the main reception phone when the hot water broke in the whole hotel which resulted in a lot of unhappy customers in the reception area trying to find out when the water would be switched back on. Also, £10 per day charge to park in the car park - watch out, you can park on the road for free.
Good things about the hotel - breakfast was good but beware of the £10 per person per day charge, the location is within walking distance to the the high street and beach area is another short walk.

First time we have stayed at this hotel. It looked newly decorated in the public areas, making the bar and lounge area a very pleasant place to sit and relax. We did have an issue with our first room, which was not the hotel's fault, rather the fault of another guest who kept their TV on full volume throughout most of the night. We were moved to an alternative room the next day, which was perfect. We didn't eat in the hotel, but many guests did and the menus looked good and were priced as expected for a 4 star hotel. Location was great, both for the seafront, Bournemouth and Westbourne. Westbourne has a great selection of restaurants and is much quieter than Bournemouth town centre. I would highly recommend the Greek Restaurant in Westbourne called Romanzo and the Westbourne Tandoori. Parking is available at the Hotel but personally I do feel overpriced at £10 a day, however, we had no problem parking on the surrounding roads, which is free. We would definitely return to The Westcliff Hotel.

My husband and I stayed for two nights for a valentines break. We were aware of the parking charge so that was fine and looks like many hotels do the same. Walking through the hotel, first impressions were that it was modern and high class. Check in was quite quick and we went to our room on the second floor. Lift very small and slow. Went into the room which was quite small and basic. Seemed clean and the bed was comfortable. Looking closer, it was obvious that the room needed a lot of work. There were light switches that did nothing, lamps that didn’t work, plug sockets not in useful places, drafty windows (storm Dennis visited too), no towel rail to dry wet towels and a wonky bathroom mirror. On Arriving back to our room after an evening out, the room was sweltering and this was without any radiators on! This made it very uncomfortable. We did open the small windows we had but it made no difference even with the storm! Our night was further disturbed by the paper thin walls which meant we could hear everything from the surrounding rooms including a very upset baby in the early hours (not baby’s fault). On our second morning when showering, it was luke warm at best which was very disappointing. Such as shame as the location is good for walking into town and we used the taxi call button and one came within 5 mins. We didn’t use the pool or spa but did buy two cokes and a cookie from the bar which totalled just under £10 so safe to say we didn’t visit again! And unless major changes are made I don’t think we will be visiting this hotel again either.

The hotel is ideally located for access to the town centre, BICC, gardens and beaches. We chose it so that we could walk to the BICC for the concert we were attending. The first room we were allocated was fine, however - please note! - this is a dog-friendly hotel and there was a dog yapping constantly when we returned to our room late afternoon after a very relaxing session in the Spa. There was also a horrendous noise coming from the ventilation system. We complained to Reception and they speedily relocated us to a much quieter room elsewhere. The bed was very comfortable and the room had all the necessary facilities, although the bathroom was a little cramped for drying onself after a shower!! We did not eat in the hotel restaurant as the menu was rather limited. However, the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice both in the 'continental' and cooked sides. Fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, croissants, toast etc. Couldn't fault it. The spa has a small pool with jacuzzi and steam room, sauna, relaxation room and aromatherapy room. We made good use of all of this on both days of our stay. Please note there is an extra charge for the spa for hotel guests as it is open to members of the public too, as is the swimming pool alongside the sun room off the bar.

Tranquil residential setting , 10mins or so walk to beach / seafront ( uphill on way back though - be warned) . No need to pay the £20 fir on site parking as free residential parking all around and we parked adjacent to hotel throughout our stay without difficulty . Inclusive use of indoor pool & gym and smallerpool with jacuzzi available at £5 per person per stay which is great value and for adults only with darkened/subtle lighting. Breakfasts were usual fare cooked or continental , cooked items being served to you at its station adhering to Covit rules as was the one way system in place but all worked very well. All staff were pleasant ,charming and helpful throughout our stay. 'Kiko' who greeted us for breakfast each day was especially welcoming . Only real downside were the stair/room. carpets which were were well worn and bare in places and walls also could do with a makeover . Room 30 was adequate but with no views , dirty windows overlooking fire escape so avoid that one . All in all though a pleasant stay within a quiet tree lined residential / hostelerie area of Bournemouth .a short car drive from the action ( although town parking dear) or indeed a brisk walk if fit enough to cope with the hilly return .

Arrived on virgin experience. upon arrival and parking in small car park was not expecting to be paying £10.00 to park overnight.
Upon moving through the ground level of the hotel everything was clean and signed. Reception staff was warm and welcoming and this was the tone of all the staff during the course of the overnight stay.
Spa this was smaller than expected and got busy in times very quickly buy still very nice.
Rooms this was the let down on for hotel. Although light and modern look the mattress was well used and could feel the springs within on my back, the shower had no real pressure behind the it and overall very underwhelming.
Dinner from preset menu the 3 courses was nice and again the staff was excellent. There was a i feel over priced extras we had the Chunky chips as extra. I think £3.95 was the cost. Kitchen did not have Chunky Chips and only french fries which we ordered. When the french fries arrived in the smallest cup i was glad that we had no chunky chips as i fear that we would of had 3 chips inside this small cup. I would of also liked to know that the dinner come with new potatoes before ordering the chips.
Breakfast was a standard hotel help yourself affair, bacon and sausage was nicely cooked not underdone like other places and nice selection throughout.
Overall i wished the Hotel rooms was at the same level as all the staff we encountered

Dear Sheffield,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not have any evening entertainment at the hotel.
Kind Regards
Kelly G
Front of Operations Manager
I never ate in the hotel on the evening as the reservation they offered as far too late in the evening. Sorry due to this I had to find restaurant down the road. Which I did and the food was lovely. All I can say thou the restaurant was full of older generation coach trippers.
Free for Boundless members but otherwise £12 a day
The breakfast is buffet style and there was a huge selection with much of it suitable for vegetarians (which I am myself)
I don't think so, but then I didn't try and run up a tab.
