Arrived at the hotel at 12:30pm and parked in the good sized car park. Our room wasn’t available until 3pm so walked to the nearby sandy beach (approx 10 minutes) and then up into Boscombe town centre. Arrived back at the hotel around 3:30pm where we checked in.
Our temperature was taken and there were lots of hand sanitisers around reception. Our room ( No.15) was on the 3rd floor which was reached by a very steep staircase. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean but the bathroom had a sloping ceiling which meant you could not stand up for a shower. We asked the guy on reception if we could have a room with an accessible shower but the hotel was booked up as it was a Saturday. He did say that they would allocate us another room for the Sunday and Monday night though and this room (No.4 Oscar Wilde) was a really spacious exceptionally clean, luxurious room with a huge comfortable bed and a great view over the garden.
Breakfast was served across the road at their sister hotel, Derby Manor, and was superb with plenty of choice served by very polite and friendly staff. Both hotels had made a fantastic effort to ensure social distancing and sanitiser access and we felt really safe. I would like to thank the hotel for accommodating our request to move rooms and for ensuring our safety at a challenging time.
Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy and the tea/coffee supplies were more than most places we have stopped at. Overall we had a fantastic 3 night stay in a beautiful period property which has a lot of history about Lillie Langtry to whom there is a blue plaque on the outside of the house. Thanks again for a great break and we would definitely stay here again.

This review is in two parts firstly for guests who have never stayed at Langtry Manor and then for people who stayed there before it became a B&B.

As a B&B Langtry Manor is a very interesting building with a lot of history, and some very interesting rooms. We stayed in the Jersey Lilly (12) which is expensive, it's a large attic room, the furnature takes shabby chic to a new level, and could do with some TLC. The carpet and general decor is to a high standard. The bed was very comfortable, although the pillows had seen better days. Breakfast is served across the road in the Derby Manor, lots to choose from, and if its not on the menu do ask, the staff are very friendly and obliging. In general Langtry Manor was very quiet, we think only three rooms were occupied, and the place seemed to lack atmosphere. It appears that the Derby Manor is the main hotel with Langtry Manor as a satellite.

For people who have stayed at Langtry Manor when it was an Hotel, it is now quite different, though still high prices. The buzz of a house party has long gone. We did ask to see inside the dining room but the recptionist, try as she might, could not find the key. Generally the public areas are decorated to a high standard. It's a shame that the history of the building is not being exploited. The Saturday night banquets were great evenings.

We booked 3 rooms for 4 nights, all 3 rooms where excellent, comfortable and exceptionally clean. The history of the building is well documented throughout the hotel and whole hotel is immaculately presented.Breakfast was served at the sister hotel The Derby Manor next door, the selection of food on offer was better than most 5star hotels. It was a pleasant surprise to have our breakfast served piping hot on heated plates a rare occurrence these days! The Derby Manor is quite a site to see again immaculate throughout. The owners pay particular attention to every detail and this is reflected in the high quality of staff that they employ. This will be our hotel of choice whenever we are in the area.
Thank you all for a wonderful experience Paul,Sean and Steve

Langtry Manor is a lovely place to stay. We stayed in Lily's Room which lived up to our expectations - a good size room, lovely old furniture, a 4 poster bed and an old fashioned, free standing bath with shower.
Whilst the breakfast was served in the sister hotel across the road, this was not a problem as that too was in a beautifully presented hotel and breakfast was delicious. Staff in both hotels were pleasant and friendly.
I would like to suggest that the website for the hotel is updated as they no longer do any food at the Langtry. We had tried to book an afternoon tea, as advertised on the website, and whilst they did email us to say that they no longer do this, it should have been removed from the website in the first instance. The website should also reflect that breakfast is over the road. However, saying this, neither of these points spoilt our stay and I would highly recommend Langtry Manor.

We frequently stay in Bournemouth, for both business and pleasure, and the Langtry Manor was a delightful change from the usual Bournemouth hotels. It has the feel of a country house hotel, and is full of charm and character.
The bedroom was large, comfortable, and nicely furnished.
The TV was way too small for the room. Hard to watch TV comfortably in bed (which was an indulgence we were looking forward to after a busy few days).
Big, comfy bed. Sadly the bottom fitted sheet didn’t fit correctly, and kept coming adrift, which was annoying.
Great shower, but the bathroom would benefit from an upgrade. Clingy shower curtains aren’t really an acceptable standard these days (especially as it was badly stained) - a shower screen would be so much better, and would feel much more hygienic.
The lounge/bar is lovely. Really nicely furnished and comfortable.
Breakfast was served at the sister hotel, the Derby Manor, across the road, and was excellent. Sadly my partner had to miss breakfast - we weren’t told in advance about the limited breakfast times (8:30am was the earliest time available, and she had to leave before then in order to go to work).
Free car parking is a plus.

Whilst I fully appreciate that the hotel has no control over the weather, the fact that hotel rooms / suits at the top of the building become unbearably hot during periods of hot weather which a simple fan do little to ease. Yes the hotel is a listed property and air conditioning is probably outside of the remedies but other options are available if the hotel wishes to provide them.
Devon Manor for breakfast was a delight, timed slots made for social distancing and good quality fresh cooked food every day.
Langtry Manor can and should make more of its history that's on show but should also look to provide more of what the modern traveller requires even in strange times that we are currently living through.

Stayed in the deluxe room as shown on the website. Enjoyed our stay immensely! The hotel is full of character and our room was lovely, comfortable, and kept spotless every day. Complementary tea, coffee etc in room as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies available all day long in lounge. Breakfast was served in the sister hotel across the road but that was fine. Excellent breakfast and another lovely hotel too. The staff were so kind, professional and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for us. Will most definitely stay again.

Nice hotel and lovely staff, however the price we were charged was excessive in my opinion (£245 for 2 nights - room only).

On our tour of Oxfordshire and Dorset (staying in 3 hotels) this represented the worst value taking everything into account.

We were in Room 14 (in the attic). The room was fine but the shower room was the smallest I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve stayed in many hotels for work and leisure).

There’s no lift so you have to lug your cases to your room up a steep flight of stairs. We’re pretty fit but something to bear in mind.

It’s within reasonable walking distance of Bournemouth Beach and parking on site is free which is good.

Room was a great size with a view over the garden (room 5) Bed was a king size and very comfortable The shower room was tiny but in a historic house I assume it’s difficult trying to squeeze one in without taking too much of the bedroom space and it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast at the sister hotel ‘Derby Manor’ was absolutely amazing & I’d like to stay there next time we go to Bournemouth but it was a lot more expensive. All staff at both hotels were excellent & an absolute credit!

We stayed at Langtry Manor for one night and had read some of the the reviews so we knew not to expect perfection, and with limited places available in and around Bournemouth that weekend, we paid a premium of £202 for the night.

We arrived late morning and knew we wouldn’t be able to check in, however we popped into ask if we could leave our car in the car park. We were surprised to find the front desk unmanned and a sign saying that there would be no one available until 3pm, unless it was an emergency, in which case there was a telephone number. We took our chances, left the car and went for a walk along the beach, and into Bournemouth.

On returning to the hotel at 2.45pm, we found there was a man on the desk (who turned out to be the only member of staff, except housekeeping, we saw). We asked to check in and as we had prepaid online, this was smooth. We were given the key to our room and directions, but no offer of help with luggage, despite the room being three floors up.

We stayed in a standard double room, number 14 (Jean Marie), at the top of the hotel. It was in the eaves and a little smaller than we had expected, however the room was nothing compared to the bathroom! It was literally the tiniest bathroom we had ever experienced, and we’ve travelled a lot. A small shower cubicle, a toilet and a bath were crammed into what should have been a wardrobe! The room was clean, however there was a lot of wear and tear, and the room was definitely in need of an upgrade. The bed was also very lumpy and the mattress needed replacing; for the money, it wasn’t a great nights sleep.

We realised that the pillows were feather and as my husband is allergic we popped down to ask if we could get some alternatives. I felt like I had requested the whole bed be replaced! The man on reception barked that I should have told them in my booking, which maybe I should have done, however it is a fairly typical request. He got up and ran off down the corridor to see if housekeeping were still on site, and a loud, shouting conversation between the man and a lady ensued. I was then told we would need to leave the room so she could replace the pillows. I offered just to take the pillows up myself but was told no. So, back down from the room we came and the pillows were replaced. We sat in the bar area downstairs, which was very nice and the man, who I am assuming realised he had been a little sharp, offered to buy us each a soft drink, which was appreciated.

Our breakfast the next morning was served at the sister hotel across the road, which we expected. The selection of continental breakfast was small, but everything was very tasty. My husband opted for a full English and I had the poached eggs and avocado on toast. Both were very nice and freshly cooked. They were also able to offer gluten free toast without hesitation which was great for me.

All in all, we wouldn’t return to Langtry Manor. It is not a hotel but more of a glorified guesthouse that really needs a refurbishment. It was also extremely expensive for what we got and if we come to Bournemouth again, we will be sure to book in advance and find something better.
