Really lovely location on the river. We got a family room as our daughter was with us - It was fabulous ! A huge bedroom split into 2 areas - 1 with a huge bed & the other the lounge area with a sofa bed. The doors opened onto a patio area with a table, chairs & a view of the river - what a bonus for warmer months ! Big shower & nice bathroom. Only took 5/10 minutes to walk into the centre. Will stay again !

We looked forward to our meal at the Mill as it had been some time since we had been out. We hadn't booked but asked at the bar if we could order at the bar with a table number. We were told we could, however when we went to do that, a very helpful person offered to take the order, which was fine. We ordered a starter and main. When the starter came we were asked if we needed anything. I asked for cutlery as none had been provided. The waiter was very apologetic and proceeded to go and get it, however while doing so, he got caught up in a conversation with another waiter. Whilst it wasn't that long a wait, I watched while he stood holding the cutlery and chatting, I felt he hadn't considered our food was getting cold. When we finished our starter which was very nice. Another waiter cleared our plates and asked if we would like to see the dessert menu. I said no we had ordered mains, 2 fish and chips. He apologised and ordered our mains to be done. The original waiter then served the mains and exactly the same thing happened with the cutlery as before. Luckily everything was hot so his hold up through another conversation didn't effect our meal. My biggest disappointment came from the peas. Instead of being served in a seperate bowl, like they used to be, my peas were spread on top of about half of my chips and the fish was placed on top. This resulted in half the chips being soggy and half my fish batter being soggy. Had I known they would have been served like this I would have asked to hold off on the peas as I'm not overly keen on minted peas, especially with fish. However I wrongly assumed they were served separately. The fish and chips were lovely apart from this issue. From then on, we did not see any staff. Admittedly some friends chatted to us as they were leaving but no one came to clear our plates a good 15 minutes after they had left. We ended up paying for our meal at the bar and left our plates on the table. Had someone come, they may have asked if the food was OK and I could have provided feedback but they didn't. It has been a while since we have been to the Mill. The staff look smart in their new uniforms however unless the service, food and attention to detail, is as smart as they are, they are a waste of time. This experience won't put me off going back but it was dispointing.

We stayed at Mill on the Exe for a short city jolly. Lovely welcome by Charlotte who showed us the room and explained the keys and parking etc. Brilliant to have your own allocated parking spot right outside. Loved the location - quiet but only a 10 minute walk into the city centre. We booked a room only stay as that suited our plans but we had breakfast at The Mill once during our stay and that was excellent - very fresh and tasty and good value for money. The room was so comfortable and the standard of housekeeping was first class. The bed was superb, as was the hot power shower. All the staff bar none were polite and friendly. Would highly recommend. Thanks to all.

Booked this hotel as a friend was getting married in Exeter and it was amazing. Great for children and the staff could not do enough for us. Karen at Breakfast and the barman Conner made my little boys stay fantastic. The hotel was clean, warm and the rooms are fantastic in size so much so we had a king size bed our travel cot and still had lots of room. The added bonus is the restaurant, the food was brilliant and as an added bonus it is dog friendly. Will 100% be stopping there again with our dog.
