Thank you for your 4 star view. To explain further about the payment hiccup - you booked and paid for your overnight stay via Expedia but they don't allow us to collect the money until the day of arrival. Originally when we tried to take payment, the token showed as falied/invalid, hence the call to yourself to make you aware of the situation. After persevering, it then transpires that the payment did go through so it appears to have been a technical problem somewhere in our system at that time. We spent two nights in the hotel. We were delighted. The hotel has obviously just been refurbished. Everything was new and clean. The room - 16 - had an attractive sea 'glimpse' and it was warm (a bit too much so), bright, clean, well furnished with a large and comfy bed.

You're completely correct, we close in January each year to go though renovations in the Manor as well as upgrading rooms, and are delighted to hear that our efforts are appreciated. Hi Eva7171, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. As it has been over 8 months between your stay date and the review being posted, I have asked TripAdvisor for further information so that I can respond accurately to your comments, but they have informed me that your review meets all requirements and therefore will not contact you. I will therefore do my best to answer the points you have raised. Having meticulously searched through our booking charts for any in May 2018 that had a room move, I can confirm that there were none and therefore wonder whether you stayed at a different time of year? I am sorry that you felt the staff were unhelpful and that it was difficult to speak to a manager, there are 3 managers who on site work full time, and always 1 on duty, so this is quite surprising to learn and given more information, I would gladly carry out a further investigation. As mattresses are a subjective area, it is very difficult for me to comment on this other than to say that over the past 3 years all hotel mattresses have been replaced. Without knowing when you stayed, and therefore which room it was that had the problem, I can only assume that it has since been replaced. Despite the problems you have mentioned, we are pleased to hear that our restaurant continues to impress and I will pass on your kind comments to our team and in particular the staff member in the restaurant that you've highlighted. As a small family run hotel, we do our utmost to ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay, and would always encourage guests to raise any issues immediately with staff so that we have the opportunity to help. Once again, we are sorry that you felt the need to complain so long after the event, and I hope that you allow us the chance to make amends at some future date.

Both of our superior bedrooms are on the second floor, which won't be suitable if you have a problem with stairs as the hotel has no lift. If you can manage one flight of stairs to the first floor, then subject to availability we may be able to book one of our rooms that have a zip and link double, which is the equivalent of a kingsize bed. If you state your requirements at the time of booking we can try and book you one of our larger rooms - again, subject to availability. Please make it clear at the time of booking of your requirements and the reasons so that we can make notes on the booking. Please advise if you have any other queries we can help you with. Our self catering villas and apartments in the grounds of the hotel are sadly unable to accept dogs/pets. We do also manage 5 self catering apartments that are located at the 'Beach House' which is 150 yards from the hotel and 2 of these apartments can accept dogs. We would always advise contacting our reservations team on 01637 873274 to double check availability as these pet friendly apartments are very popular as there are so few available! Dear Paul & Zoe, Thank you for your question. The hotel is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor and the bar and restaurant/lounge areas are all accessible as we have wide doors and entrances. We also offer disabled parking on the level close to the main entrance, we also offer a wheelchair friendly toilet. Please note however that we are a very old building and all hotel bedrooms are located upstairs - there is no lift access. However, we do have one ground floor apartment suitable for guests with severe walking difficulties. If you have any further queries or questions please feel free to contact us on: 01637 873274.
