Porth Veor Manor Hotel is just over a mile from Newquay, within easy walking distance of all the amenities it has to offer, but far enough away to act as a haven from the hustle! Prettily perched above Porth Beach, you can look forward to breathtaking views across to Trevose lighthouse. But if you fancy a stroll, our terrific terraced gardens flourish in the mild Cornish climate and a private path leads you to join the coastal route, with easy access to Porth beach below. The hotel building itself is a charming 19th Century manor, packed with original features such as our winding staircase and open fires. And as we're big on good taste, you'll find award winning locally sourced food in the relaxing interior of our restaurant too!

Went away on business to Newquay plus stayed on an additional night for pleasure. The hotel was very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. We ate in on one evening and the food was very good with locally sourced products where possible. Breakfast was good although no

Thank you for your 4 star view. To explain further about the payment hiccup - you booked and paid for your overnight stay via Expedia but they don't allow us to collect the money until the day of arrival. Originally when we tried to take payment, the token showed as falied/invalid, hence the call to yourself to make you aware of the situation. After persevering, it then transpires that the payment did go through so it appears to have been a technical problem somewhere in our system at that time. We apologise for any misunderstanding and inconvenience caused and please be assured we would never take a double payment. Yours sincerely Tracy Kirton

We spent two nights in the hotel. We were delighted. The hotel has obviously just been refurbished. Everything was new and clean. The room - 16 - had an attractive sea 'glimpse' and it was warm (a bit too much so), bright, clean, well furnished with a large and comfy bed.

Hi Wixon, Thank you for your kind review, the team here at Porth Veor always do their best to be professional but also friendly and it's great that has come across. You're completely correct, we close in January each year to go though renovations in the Manor as well as upgrading rooms, and are delighted to hear that our efforts are appreciated. We hope that you had a relaxing journey home (as much as traveling home after a break can be relaxing anyway) and we hope to welcome you back at some future date, and hopefully the heating more comfortable for you. Many thanks again from all the team here. Kindest regards, Stuart

They gave away our room! So they led us up a very narrow stairwell and gave us a terrible room in essentially the attic, where the air quality was dreadful - stuffy and stale with only one tiny window. They kept saying that we would need to speak to the manager, but such a

Hi Eva7171, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. As it has been over 8 months between your stay date and the review being posted, I have asked TripAdvisor for further information so that I can respond accurately to your comments, but they have informed me that your review meets all requirements and therefore will not contact you. I will therefore do my best to answer the points you have raised. Having meticulously searched through our booking charts for any in May 2018 that had a room move, I can confirm that there were none and therefore wonder whether you stayed at a different time of year? I am sorry that you felt the staff were unhelpful and that it was difficult to speak to a manager, there are 3 managers who on site work full time, and always 1 on duty, so this is quite surprising to learn and given more information, I would gladly carry out a further investigation. As mattresses are a subjective area, it is very difficult for me to comment on this other than to say that over the past 3 years all hotel mattresses have been replaced. Without knowing when you stayed, and therefore which room it was that had the problem, I can only assume that it has since been replaced. Despite the problems you have mentioned, we are pleased to hear that our restaurant continues to impress and I will pass on your kind comments to our team and in particular the staff member in the restaurant that you've highlighted. As a small family run hotel, we do our utmost to ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay, and would always encourage guests to raise any issues immediately with staff so that we have the opportunity to help. Once again, we are sorry that you felt the need to complain so long after the event, and I hope that you allow us the chance to make amends at some future date.

Booked through Wowcher. Deal included two nights accommodation, breakfast, a 3 course meal and Prosecco. Hotel is fairly dated but we knew this before booking. Location is great for Porth beach, but roughly a 30 minute walk into Newquay centre. Service in the restaurant was

Both of our superior bedrooms are on the second floor, which won't be suitable if you have a problem with stairs as the hotel has no lift. If you can manage one flight of stairs to the first floor, then subject to availability we may be able to book one of our rooms that have a zip and link double, which is the equivalent of a kingsize bed. If you state your requirements at the time of booking we can try and book you one of our larger rooms - again, subject to availability. Please make it clear at the time of booking of your requirements and the reasons so that we can make notes on the booking. Please advise if you have any other queries we can help you with. Kind regards Tracy

Our self catering villas and apartments in the grounds of the hotel are sadly unable to accept dogs/pets. We do also manage 5 self catering apartments that are located at the 'Beach House' which is 150 yards from the hotel and 2 of these apartments can accept dogs. We would always advise contacting our reservations team on 01637 873274 to double check availability as these pet friendly apartments are very popular as there are so few available! I hope this helps. Kindest Regards Jamie General Manager

Dear Paul & Zoe, Thank you for your question. The hotel is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor and the bar and restaurant/lounge areas are all accessible as we have wide doors and entrances. We also offer disabled parking on the level close to the main entrance, we also offer a wheelchair friendly toilet. Please note however that we are a very old building and all hotel bedrooms are located upstairs - there is no lift access. However, we do have one ground floor apartment suitable for guests with severe walking difficulties. If you have any further queries or questions please feel free to contact us on: 01637 873274. Thank you Jamie Riches GM

Can the room service bill get paid on check out?
If you are referring to food and drinks charged to your room, yes, this is paid upon check-out. Regards Tracy
