We were a group of 5 who came to celebrate a birthday. I did mention this when booking but no effort was made to do something small for the person although this was promised when booking. I particularly have to mention the dessert menu as I ordered the orange custard and rhubarb

Dear Mr George We are so sorry to have made such an awful error with your booking in not acknowledging the birthday you were all celebrating. A note to the effect was indeed made but we hold our hands up to failing at the last hurdle as you absolutely right we do like to do something for the person celebrating a birthday . With regard to the rhubarb and custard dessert - thank you for your comments,. These will be fed back to our kitchen team as certainly the custard should have been thick and unctuous which was the case two days before you dined and, with a standardised recipe, should have still been the case. It appears however that a new batch was produced that did not follow the standardised recipe for which we apologise. Your last sentence has left us somewhat confused - the dishes a year ago did not match the description on the menu or this year? Whilst we would hope it was neither if we did make the menu unclear we hope it was from some time ago. Thank you for your feedback - whilst we want to get it right all of the time, we are keen to learn from any mistakes to alleviate the possibility them happening again.

Booked this hotel as a surprise for My partner as part of a city break. Took up the 'frozen roses' option which was laid out as a heart shape which the lady adored! The room is stylish and contempory. Plenty of amnemities (duck feathered bed spread, HD television to name a few).

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it didn't disappoint. The only gripe I had was the restaurant didn't really offer a massive selection of food, though I am quite fussy.

Natalie - we are so very sorry that you did not find on either our a la care or café bar menu that tempted your tastebuds. We are always open to suggestions as to what people want to see on the menu. Where we can, and with enough notice, our chef will also cook a dish that is not on our menu or tweak a dish that we already have. Our upcoming new a la carte menu will have two fish main courses as a result of listening to our diners who want to see more fish on the menu. Delighted however that overall you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you return to celebrate many more wedding anniversaries in the future.

The room was nice and very modern. Bath and shower were available. Large bed. The outside of the building is truly beautiful at night. However, we waited a long time at the restaurant before being served and even complained to the staff.

Is it true that hotel requires £50 deposit in case of any damage?
We take a pre-authorisation of £50 per night to cover any incidentals during a stay. Pre payment is taken for advance purchase bookings at the time of booking. Payment is processed the night before for all 3rd party bookings. All our terms are stated in email confirmation that gets sent following a reservation

We stayed in room 18 it was a ground floor room so very close to the front door and garden but didn't open onto it. There are two restaurants - one you can take dogs in and the other you can't. We left our dog in our room whilst we had dinner.

How far is hotel from town ?
It takes 25 minutes to walk into town along one straight mainly residential, very safe and well lit road which is downhill or a taxi takes just 10 minutes to the city centre. Buses also regularly pass by the end of our road during the day - less frequent at night.
