Detailed Reviews
Conveniently located but otherwise disappointing.
Our room on the ground floor was created by splitting what would have originally been one large room. The result was a small twin - clean, comfortable, tea and coffee making, TV, hairdryer - but small.
The bathroom was ridiculously small, the wash basin dinky so the door didn’t hit it, the toilet set at a slight angle so it fitted in, good shower but barely room to put a bath mat down and certainly not enough room to get dry without hitting elbows. We had to get dry in the bedroom and we are average size, if you are taller or broader than average you’d struggle.
The walls were very thin, the room overlooked the garden with a table and chairs where the smokers gathered in the morning so we had the smoke smell and coughing from 7am.
There’s a choice of continental or full breakfast. Personally, if you’re having continental I’d advise just buying something from one of the nearby little stores. For £5 there’s : cheap orange juice, a choice of three cereals, cows milk, a coffee machine or a pot of tea, a stand with a couple of oranges plus some tired apples, a few of those tiny cakes that come in big bags at the supermarket. Plus 2 slices of toasted granary bread with a slice of processed cheese and a slice of salami. No fresh bread, no yogurt or hard boiled eggs, no patisserie. Cooked breakfast is as above plus bacon, sausage, egg and beans. No veggie option, no vegan option.
It’s very expensive for what it is.

We were welcomed warmly by Inga , who couldn’t do enough for us . Even providing a cold press for my sore neck !!
Lovely big room on the first floor , big comfy king size bed with a mattress topper ... good nights sleep as a consequence.... like sleeping on a cloud !!
Good en-suite
Breakfast was well cooked and met our needs , including going out to the shops early to get apple juice and soya milk for me !!
Would recommend this lovely B and B
Thank you Inga

My friend and I stayed here recently on a trip round the UK and absolutely loved our time in Cambridge and stay at the Guesthouse. Inga, the owner, was so accommodating and friendly, thrilled by every new guest and so interested in speaking with us.
The room was a little small for a twin bed, but we were carrying an extraordinary amount of luggage, which didn't help, and the place is so well positioned and relaxed that, for the price we paid, it's exceptional value for money.
We'd recommend the Guesthouse to anyone visiting Cambridge. It's easy walking distance from the centre of town (about 10 minutes) but is far enough away to avoid the drone of traffic. Mill Road, a few minutes away, is also home to a lot of cafes and bars to enjoy.
To be honest though, and has been mentioned by the reviews here already, the Guesthouse is most memorable for the warm reception given by Inga and Irma, who make this place more like a home than a hotel.

Room Tip: It's probably best for couples rather than as a twin bed, but we enjoyed it all the same.

We stayed at A & B Guest House in Cambridge whilst spending a few days exploring the city and surrounding area. On arrival, we were a little early for checking in but the owner allowed us to park my car in their small car park so we could have a wander into the city centre, which is only a 20 minute walk away. Once back at the guest house, we were pleasantly welcomed and checked in. Our room was small and on the top floor but it was sufficient for wwhat we needed, double bed, TV and shower etc.
The whole place was very clean and looked like it had been fairly recently decorated. Unfortunately due to C-19 limitations the tea.coffee in the room could not be provided. There are plenty of places locally for breakfast though, as well as restaurants for evening meals.
Parking on the premises is very limited with space only for two cars, three at a push. A charge of £10/day is applied but this is far cheaper than parking in one of the city car parks. The train station is only a five minute walk from the guest house, which may be easier for some.
I would recommend a stay at A & B Guest House if you are visiting the city centre.

Inga the owner is beautiful inside & out, super friendly with a smile that lights the place up. The place is very well decorated & absolutely spotlessly clean. We were in the attic rooms which aren’t the biggest but that was due to availability & reflected in the very reasonable cost with all that you need. Breakfast (extra) was locally sourced & cooked well in a lovely little dining room, limited parking available at £10 a day. 20 mins walk to the centre and all the colleges etc. Would definitely go again - Very highly recommended. Thanks for the lovely stay Inga.

We had an excellent stay at this very comfortable guest house. Inga was incredibly welcoming & helpful, offering extra towels, tea & coffee & toiletries. The beds were comfy & our room had a delightful garden view. The location is perfect - a lovely walk into town just 15 mins away. Highly recommended.

We had just 1 night at A&B. The room was small but very clean as was all the place. The location is about a mile from central but as walkers we were happy with that. We liked The Salisbury pub just up the road. Breakfast was not included but we liked Hot Numbers Coffee (in Dale's brewery) a small walk away. The hostess, Inga, was most enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. It felt a bit pricey for no breakfast, basic accommodation but I think it is competitive for Cambridge. We enjoyed our stay here and appreciated the cleanliness, friendly staff and we .iked the location with some parking.

Arrived just before check-in time of 3.30 to find the front door locked with no signs of anyone around. After I made a phone call I was given the key code to retrieve the front door key.
Once inside, the room key was in an envelope on the front desk. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Next morning went down to breakfast to find once again no staff members and what I can only assume was the breakfast room door locked. No explanation as to why breakfast wasn’t being offered. So the room key was left where a note on the desk advised and we left.
Whilst there is no complaint regarding the room, I have never stayed anywhere where you never see a staff member! Also, the website promotes a beautiful breakfast room that is clearly not in use; to have advanced warning that breakfast was not being offered when booking would have been appreciated!

Quite a simple but super clean modern B&B. Clearly very loved and Inga was so polite and professional with a personal touch and help when needed. The whole B&B is very quiet and I really felt relaxed being there. The bedding and bed was sooo comfortable it was heaven.
Only 5 mins from the station and 15 mins (nice walk) from the city centre.
Good value and I would recommend to others.

Our room was tiny, tripping over each other and the bathroom was so small it was not functional. Of course as with any guesthouse in England the rooms were not soundproof but it was particularly loud here. And the price was simply too high for the quality. Plus it's not a short walk to downtown.
