Visited this place having cruised there on board the Celebrity Solstice. Got to the Island by Tender and it was just mesmerising. It’s fascinating as it’s got its own Airport. The water was beautiful and clear and the Islanders who worked the Island were really friendly
Tender to island, tip, go early, be the first it’s the highlight of the itinerary, take snorkel equipment and stake your claim under a tree for the morning. Take water, don’t eat the food on the island so have a big breakfast to last you till at least 11 am, then come back to the ship for lunch, beat the rush and get on the first tender, use plenty of sun cream, you can walk around the island in 30 minutes. Nobody lives there. The latest news, there is a coffee shop opened. They take AUS dollars, take a big hat, beautiful white sandy beaches and great snorkeling.
Sabe aquela ilha que sonhamos? Águas transparentes, quentes, mar calmo, Verde esmeralda, lindos corais, peixes coloridos. Ela existe!!! É aqui. Lugar lindo com sombra de coqueiros e árvores. Tem que conhecer.
What a lovely island. We swan in the crystal clear water for 2 hours....fantastic. We walked around the whole island in 30 minutes. I highly recommend a day visit. I didn't see any hotel, so not sure what trip advisor is rating here.
Mystery Island is heaven on earth, the tiny tropical island you dream about. For the second time in 2 years, we booked directly (on arrival) with Mystery Island Indigenous Tours (operator Jackson Keith), who took us out to 5 different locations on the stunning reef for guided snorkelling. We snorkelled, the guides lead us and pointed out fascinating underwater features such as the ledges where the locals used to bury their dead (prior to missionaries arriving in the 1700's), reef sharks, a sunken Australian wreck "Truganini" and simply the most astonishing marine life. The guides were strong (hauling older members of our group safely into the boat, ensuring the group stayed together) and knowledgeable about local life, where they fish etc. Also great fun and funny! They have a Facebook page or book directly on the island - cheaper than doing so through the ship. Couldn't recommend highly enough.…
