Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unlike Muriwai, Piha doesn't seem to have a beautiful spot to observe the ocean with a easily accessible location by car. Although on the way to Piha, there is a spot many people stop and take photo but this is a side view not a straight ahead view of Piha. If you are into walking, hiking or running then doing one of this whilst getting an awesome view of Piha is great, right. Try this White, Rose & Laird Thompson track in Piha. These are three tracks but one after the other will take you in a oval shape route and will get you where you started. you will have great views to the ocean at the top of your hike and will finish the hike with long walk in the North piha beach. ramanan arampamoorthy

Graham and Viv knocked themselves out to accommodate us. Besides tidy, charming and comfortable rooms, the meals were outstanding, and Graham provided taxi service to assist with luggage and to enable one member to return home because of a family emergency.

The view is stunning and the hosts were friendly, helpful and totally dedicated to servicing their guests. Do Not Hesitate to Stay Here!

We stayed at the Piha Ocean Lookout whilst tramping the Hillary Trail and found Graham and Viv to be amazing hosts with a wealth of local knowledge. The accommodation was beautifully presented and very comfortable. We were hot and tired when we arrived but were soon refreshed by the foot spa, long cold drink and shower. Graham not only drove us in to Piha for dinner, but also gave us a full guided tour of the town.
It was the most welcoming establishment I have ever stayed in.

This is a beautiful house with amazing views over Piha and extremely helpful hosts. You can enjoy the most spectacular sunsets from the house upper deck, Viv and Graham are generously sharing with their guests, or just relax at the special lookout Graham built on a superb spot in the forest, a few minutes walk away from the house. We had the whole ground floor only for us (the bedroom, the sitting room with a kitchenette and a large bathroom equipped with a washer and dryer) and we felt like home. Graham gave us a lift to the starting point of a beautiful track. They both were very happy to suggest walking tracks and places to go close by. Piha and Karekare's wild nature is absolutely breathtaking.
But apart from all that, Graham and Viv were for me more than B&B hosts. When we arrived at their place, me with a nasty deep open wound in my palm, the result of an injury with a Swiss knife, Graham with Viv's help organised a paramedic in no time and drove us to him. And given Piha's remoteness, this is really something you deeply appreciate. This is by no means something you would expect from your B&B hosts, but it is just normal for Viv and Graham.
We strongly recommend their place.

Everything you need for a family to enjoy the beach at Piha.
Our family of four had a fantastic time, comfortable, friendly environment, great view, hospitality and breakfast. My apologies Graham and Viv for taking so long to get this review posted. Also fantastic forest walks in the area, just ask Graham for a lift!

We had a wonderful stay, the Piha Ocean Lookout is a sanctuary and one can easily forget oneself in such a setting of blissful calm. It was the best sleep we have had in a long time and we know where to go now whenever we need an escape. The hospitality of Viv & Graham made us feel more than welcome. The breakfast was amazing with fresh pineapple, strawberries and blueberries, cereal and toast. Viv even made us tasting "Vegemite" for the first time in our lives and we had been also given lots of tips where we could have lunch and dinner or where to make a bushwalk. Talking to locals is always very important and helpful, especially when they are very kind. Such a pity that NZ is so far away from Germany!

Initially i was apprehensive about staying at Piha Ocean Lookout as reviews on trip advisor were limited. However we were really charmed by the location which gives a fantastic view of sunset over Piha Ocean. When we reached there, we were warmly welcomed and the whole place is so clean and beautiful that it exceeded my expectations.

It was a pity that it was raining when we were there for a night and the host,Graham kept on expressing his apologies for the rain which obstructed the view when it wasnt his fault! This just shows how sincere he is about making our stay perfect.

One thing i discovered after the stay is that i feel fortunate to have met Graham and Viv as we left the place happy to have made friends with such nice and warm people.

Another highlight of the stay was the brrakfast made by Viv. She took a lot of effort to accomodate to our needs and the spread of breakfast suits our needs perfectly. Different types of high quality jam to complement freshly toasted bread, her great freshly brewed coffee and the fresh fruit platter, we really enjoyed the breakfast and it marked a great start to our day.
After we had checked out, we met with an unfortunate incident on the road.we gave them a call as we dont know anyone else. Would you believe Graham drove all the way to where we were to help us unconditonally. He got himself dirty helping us out but he willstill graciously smiled all the time. We were really touched thougeh we didnt tell them that.
What a memorable trip! I will definitely go back there if i have the chance
and will recommend it strongly to our friends and family.

When i browsed through the guest book, i realised this awesome place is a well-kept secret because there were so few reviews on tripadvisor but there were numerous great reviews in their guestbook. Many guests had stayed here and had memorable times here as well.

I am still travelling in New Zealand so will share some pictures once i go back.

My family and i miss the place dearly!:-)

Great BnB, lovely relaxed hosts. I was able to make the most of my stay with a very scenic walk nearby around the headlands, not to mention the views of Piha beach, with a cuppa on the deck. The rooms are well appointed and the bedding v comfy! Own door key and direct parking. My bonus was being able to meet some of the locals, through Viv and Graham, and enjoy a meal and glass of vino with them.
Very relaxed time, came away with a smile on my face and stories to tell.
Thank You
Fleur

Gracious hosts, unbeatable views, incredible breakfast and nearby coastal hike to remote beach for which there are not enough adjectives! Have a casual, delicious dinner with locals who will welcome you at the rsa club. You won't want to leave.

Piha is a small coastal town situated an hour outside Auckland. The Outlook is worth the short walk up the rock to see gorgeous views. Wear a sturdy shoe as the step are steep in some places and can be slippery. I went in the evening and enjoyed watching the surfer from my perch.
