Detailed Reviews
We were all welcomed warmly, shown to our rooms which were spotless, told to help ourselves to things in the kitchen. It was so restful especially after a busy day down at the beach. Luckily we had brought lots of food with us as local facilities are very limited. Yes, there is café nearby

The Piha Beachstay is a fabulous affordable relaxing home away from home. The space is comfty, clean and surrounded by stunning nature and not too far for a stroll to the beach. Love the great big well equipped kitchen and seating area. The host/s are accommodating and so is the resident cat, who keeps an eye on things. Can't wait to visit again.

Be sure to bring food with you! Options extremely limited in Piha.
This hostel was so lovely. I slept very well in the 6-bed dorm which is airy with very sturdy bunk beds.
Note that this isn't an especially social hostel - a lot of folks arrive in pairs or groups and keep to themselves.
The beach is a 20-minute walk away, Kitekite falls less than 5 minutes.

Piha Beachstay is a real find! An easy few minutes walk from the beach, tucked in behind shady trees on the frontage, and opening out on to a beckoning private green 'backyard'. My room had everything I needed and was impeccably clean - as was my ensuite. The bed was really comfortable and the bedding was good quality (always appreciated!) The communal kitchen was incredibly well appointed and the choices of lounging and dining areas, both inside and outdoors, gave everybody plenty of space. Jeff was a friendly and obliging host with helpful advice for us on where to go and what to do - nothing was too much trouble. Really highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at Piha Beachstay Accomodation. We were only there one night, but plan to go back when we can stay longer! We stayed in the end room with ensuite which was clean, comfortable and warm on a winter day. We were within walking distance of the start of the track to the waterfall, and staff were helpful with where to go to have a meal and other walks in the area.

Very nice comfortable room close enough to the beach and nice self catering arrangements for dinner and breakfast. Best to bring food as the store in Piha is very basic. Great base for walking or just visiting the stunning beach at Piha or the famous Kare kare beac 4 km away

Great place to stay at the end of Glen Esk Road near the bush. Easy access to walk to Kitekite falls, and up to the ridge lookouts on recently rebuilt tracks (thank you DOC). Walk to beach. Breakfast with free range eggs from chickens that run around on the site.

Great vibe, great space. A nice oasis that is close enough to walk to piha beaches but is also close enough to walk to several nice hikes inland, including one to the very pretty Kitekite falls.
Big kitchen and lounge and lots of outdoor seating and eating space to take advantage of their idyllic private garden.
Geoff is a laid back and unobtrusive host but he's right there if you need anything.
The tips input box is far too short so I'll include my tip here:
Mind if you're driving to Piha from Auckland close to sunset. There's a place about 5-10 minutes East of piha where the road heads directly towards the sun and if the sun is low in the sky, about 1/2 hour before sunset, you come around a corner and can be absolutely blinded due to the low angle of the sun. You can't see anything at all and if you're not expecting it and traveling at speed you must stop dead in your tracks to avoid straying into oncoming traffic or going off the road. And if you're going the other way at this time of day watch for this spot because oncoming traffic could easily veer into your lane with the Sun right in their eyes.

I highly recommend staying here. Spotlessly clean, especially the communal areas such as bathrooms, kitchen etc.
The room was a twin with a beautiful view. Lovely grounds to walk around and plenty of outdoor furniture to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The host Geoff was very pleasant and always there to help with any questions. Overall I could not fault the accommodation and will definitely be going back for a longer stay.

Clean, quiet and Geoff was a pleasure to communicate with. The accommodations were basic but clean and I shared a room with my wife and my kids had the other private room with bathroom. Everyone was quiet and respectful and we were close to the beach and nature trails
