Detailed Reviews
We reserved a room at this B&B based on the beautiful pictures, location and amenities included like breakfast, internet and the billiard table at a very fair rate. On arrival this beautiful home looks exactly like the pictures. Our host, Glenice, was warm and welcoming and allowed us the opportunity to choose among the available rooms. We chose the Awaruku room because it had a wonderful large walk in closet area, incredible views of the beach below and felt very cozy and secluded. We were there for an event in nearby Takapuna and had a car so the location suited our needs well. Glenice had a full selection of breakfast items available each morning as well as complimentary water and coffee supplies in the room. We had originally booked two nights before we arrived and while we were there we decided to extend our stay an additional night.
After leaving we had three nights and four days remaining of our trip which we had planned on using to drive down to the Rotorua area. The pace of the preceding week of travel and preparations for the event had worn us out a bit so we went into Auckland and booked a room at the Elliott hotel. We had hoped to rest up a bit for the night and then decide the rest of our trip. The hotel was fine just not really to our style or liking. We promptly checked out, only incurring the $15 parking fee.
We headed back north on the Northern Motorway and stopped in Albany to get some dinner. At this point we hunted down the number for the Clifftop Lodge and promptly called to beg Glenice if we could come "home". She was very kind and graciously obliged us. This time we had the opportunity to stay in the Tiri room. The room was very comfortable with an amazing view of the ocean from the shower and a nice balcony. We enjoyed the rest of our trip here and it gave us a wonderful opportunity to slow down our pace and enjoy some of the attractions in the immediate area that we had initially neglected. We spent half a day out at Piha beach and another day at the Auckland museum (great musuem-btw). Glenice kindly allowed us to use a set of kayaks, she even helped me carry it down to the beach.
There were so many benefits to staying here - the beach location, the house itself, the full breakfast, not worrying about parking or parking fees, the wireless internet, the flat screen tv's, the billiard table, the kayaks and the unexpected bonus of a real great and warm hostess. Thanks again Glenice - we can't wait to come back.

We booked into this little B&B at the very beginning of our trip of a life time, arriving if I recall on December 30th and I have to say that we were both absolutely blown away by the welcome, the atmosphere and the scenery. The Clifftop Lodge is just up the road from my sisters house who emigrated a few years back so it was incredibly handy!
I was a little concerned that with it being the xmas holidays, I would feel like I was intruding on their family time and also being a same sex couple I was keeping my fingers crossed that there would be no awkwardness. But I needn't have worried at all, Glenice and Ross were just lovely and we could'nt have been made to feel more welcome if we were long lost relatives.
The house is beautiful, spotlessly clean and finished to a very high standard. The Terrace overlooks the beautiful Long Bay and having our breakfast on New Years morning looking out on that scenery is something that will stay with me forever... (unlike the GF) lol
We stayed there for three hours, chatting to Glenice and just soaking up all that sun.
Our stay with Glenice and Ross lasted 4 days, and I recall being quite sad that we were leaving for the next leg of our trip. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone it really does have it all! I probably wont write a review about the other places we stayed but this one was definately worth making the event
P.S Ross makes the best hash browns i have ever tasted!

This was by far the best place we stayed in NZ and we stayed in some great places. Glenice and Ross are wonderful hosts and the location is exceptional. The views are stunning and if you are having a busy trip this is just the place to restore the batteries.
We arrived on a bank holiday when restaurants were shut so they invited us to join them in fish and chips with their friends. We had such a wonderful time with them. With no check in or out times we arrived just after lunch and left about mid-day the next day having had a lovely walk along the beach.
Everything about Clifftop Lodge is perfect.

We booked this lodge as part of our trip to the rugby world cup in New Zealand and it was the best find ever. Glenice and Ross are the most charmign hosts ever. I have stayed in many B&Bs around the world and have never received such warm hospitality.
The accommodation was first class, the food was beyong great and most importantly the Glenice and Ross made us feel like we were part of the family. They are far away the bets hosts ever. We were treated like family rather than like guests and our hosts went out of their way to make sure we have a super time in Auckland. Pity there aren't many more establishments like Clifftop around the world.
I honestly cannot fault Glenice and Ross in any way. Thank you so much for such an awesome time, my only regret is that we did not stay longer.

With the rugby world cup in new Zealand, accommodation was difficult to find. Not only did we find a b&b but we found a home away from home. Cliff top lodge not only has stunning views of the sea but the house itself has beautiful finishes and has been designed with love.
Our hosts Glenice and Ross, really made us feel at home. Their kindness and friendliness were beyond measure and they went way beyond the call of duty. They offered to take us and pick us up from the rugby games, they offered great advice with parking in town. The breakfasts that were served were amazing and prepared with care. We had to make changes to our booking plans and Glenice and Ross were very accommodating. The hospitality of this couple was amazing and we look forward to going back to Auckland so that we can enjoy their company and hospitality again. Cliff top is highly recommended to anyone going to New Zealand.
