This place was strange, tried it for a couple of nights to see if I want to stay longer. I felt unsafe, management was difficult to deal with, facilities smel. I would not go there again my mood picked up when I left.

My partner and i stayed there for two weeks. Manager was dishonest, general manager was rude and a lier. Good for cult type people who dont mind this kinda management. I dont recommend this place for people who want peaceful stay. Lots of negative vibe and talking behind our back. Regret staying there.

This place used to have a good atmosphere, however, i was disappointed to stay in the short term accommodation recently. There was dust floating in the room, one of the showers was overflowing, there was no dishwashing liquide in the shared kitchen. There was poor customer service at one exception. Unfortunately in my opinion this place has lost the charm it once had and for the price i paid i would highly suggest booking elsewhere.

We booked here last minute on our way into Auckland, excited for the opportunity to do some yoga and stay at the centre. Upon arrival, they couldn’t find our booking and there wasn’t clear instructions of where to park our vehicle. Poor and inefficient customer experience. The delay in checkin meant we were late to the yoga class. Classes were free when we were there and the yoga facility was nice. Was unsure if there were covid measures or precautions in place- shared wool blankets handed out. It was dark and couldn’t find the kitchen after, so ended up in a larger kitchen area which was very unclean, including dirty shelves and a rotting banana in the cupboard, presumably from longer term guests at the centre. The room itself was basic, but overpriced for what it was. A fixture (perhaps water fixture?) was broken and fixed with large amounts of duct tape on the ceiling- didn’t look safe or professional. The place is ok if you like rustic and don’t mind the slightly weird vibe. I love retreat centres like this usually and was overall disappointed. The place has lots of potential with better customer service, cleaner facilities, and better run centre overall. Wouldn’t return.

This is the worst place I've ever stayed. I mean that! I didn't get a wink of sleep my entire stay because every single movement from the room above echoed noisily through the thin ceilings and into my room. The footsteps were literally like drums. The surroundings are nice enough and the forest is wonderful, but if you value your sleep AT ALL do not stay here. Even with my ear plugs in I was kept awake all night by the routine movements of the guests in the room above. Not their fault, they were just moving around normally. To make matters worse, when I brought this to the attention of the manager I was offered no refund, or discount, or room move. Absolutely shocking hospitality.

What a beautiful discovery of this place was. Totally unexpected! The grounds were full of sweeping trees-amazing views of the bush and such a relaxing atmosphere. When I entered my single room I discovered they had turned the heater on. What a lovely gesture! I had a great night sleep too! The toilet & bathroom facilities were a short distance away. My accommodation was all I needed for the one night. I had done a lot of driving at Bay of the Islands as I am from Australia & I chose to stay here to recharge my battery before I drove back over the bridge into Auckland and continue my journey further down.

I spent four days on a business training in the shanti room. It is a beautiful space, and the toilet facilities are good, but the electricity is somewhat unreliable with cords over the floor to allow a projector to be used.

If you like luxury, please stop reading now. I had a conference at QBE stadium and was looking for a place close by. I came across the retreat centre and after reading its mixed reviews i was a little worried about booking it, but decided to do it anyway. If you like camping and do not worry about luxury, you will like this place. I had a single room (two single beds) facing the bush. The heater was already on wating for me. The room had a strong smell of closed room, but it reminded me about those tropical cabins around the Atlantic forest, nothing to worry about, and the view and silence was very good and peaceful. I needed to use the share bathroom and it was very clean during the times that i needed, shower was very strong and warm. The place was worth staying. After a busy day was nothing better to relax having a tea looking at the stars. It has common areas, free yoga classes, bush walks, coffee shop and a common kitchen if you want to cook. It is walking distance to shops and Westfield Mall. I will stay again for sure and not worry about taking my family.

We booked a night here to stay after a long flight. We booked a queen room with en-suite through Hotels.com and paid up front. Our flights were changed and about 6weeks before our stay, I rang to change the dates by a day. It was explained that they didn't have a queen room but did have a twin - I accepted the twin. When we arrived the room did not have a bathroom but we were expected to use a communal bath-house which was at the other end of the building and up some stairs. Both my husband and I are no longer young and we get up at least a couple of times in the night. Trekking outside in the dark just wasn't an option. We declined the room and asked for a refund as it wasn't what we had booked and paid for. No way!!!! They refused us and even though Hotels.com advised them to refund they would not. The manager was barely polite - certainly not friendly. I did consider taking them to Small Claims Court. This was one of the worst experiences I have had with accommodation. If they had been up-front and explained about the shared facilities right from the start, I would not have booked. If they had been friendlier and willing to even listen, then maybe I wouldn't feel so ripped-off. Beware if you are considering booking here.

Arrived quite a long walk from carpark. Was shown my room knew it would be basic but didn't expect the likeness to a prison cell. Very cold and you cold hear every one in the rooms each side and above. Lasted an hour and stayed elsewhere.
