We had a brilliant stay food and staff where brilliant, the kids club was amazing lots of activities and shows for them to do, beach was about 5 minutes away in the hotel buggy was well worth it water was clear with fish swimming around. There were good shops at the Tulum hotel that was only a short buggy ride. Would love to go back.

Hotel's Favourite
All in all, we had a fantastic stay – and the value for money was excellent. Rooms – Although a little dated, they’re absolutely fine. Had plenty of TV channels (Most of which can be switched into English) so kids kept happy, and the Aircon was great. Room was always nice and cool. Minibar restocked daily with a few cans of pop, bottles of water and a couple of beers. Cleaners made/changed beds and towels changed daily. Kids Club – Wow, it’s really really good. Our 4 and 9 year old girls loved it. They were always doing activities, crafts, games and they put on a show every other day in the Theatre, which the girls loved being part of. You can simply drop them and pick them up when you like, no need to book – It just worked around how we all wanted to plan our days. They take them swimming and to the splash park too. It has a large air conditioned room, and it’s own play area. Shout out to Larry the Iguana who lives just outside the entrance! All the staff made the girls feel really welcome and they thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with the team there. Pools – Theres plenty of choice! 1 Large pool with swim up bar in the quiet area – so no games or activities going on there. Couple of larger pools with something always going on from the entertainment teams. Another large pool with bar (Look out for the Pool foam party at 12pm on Fridays here – Great fun). Each of the pools has jacuzzi area’s and there’s also a couple of dedicated jacuzzi only pools which were slightly heated. Kids splash pool with slides etc was also very good. Lots of choice. Loads of loungers and shaded area’s. Food – Although there are around 10 different restaurants you can book into (Throughout the 3 Bahia Principe Hotels on site), we could only manage to book into 3 of them during our 11 night stay as they were all booked up which was a shame and a bit disappointing to be fair, but the main Buffet is really good with plenty of choices and different themed areas. We had no complaints at all regarding the food – it was excellent. The snack bar (Which was open throughout the day, and then open on evenings after the main buffet closes at 10pm) was a bit basic with no that much choice, but it was OK to grab a quick bite. We were very disappointed that the advertised ‘Food Truck’ area was completely closed and not open at all during our stay. This was our main issue with our holiday – and although it didn’t spoil it, we were highly disappointed. The Teppanyaki was very entertaining – Defo book into that one! The Italian also was very nice serving Fillet of Beef. One thing to note, and my advise to the hotel – At breakfast, cook more sausage and bacon. This was often empty, and when refilled emptied very quickly again. 50% of the time I ended up having a veggies breakfast as I didn’t want to stand around 15-20 mins waiting for bacon whilst the rest of my food was going cold and the kids were getting bored at the table. Drinks – Although not your named brand spirits, the drinks were very good. All soft drinks are Coke brands, and orange/fruit juices very nice. The wife may have had a Mimosa or 3 also. No complaints at all – Plenty of places to get drinks and never any large queues. Halloween & Day of the Dead – This is a little bit of a double edge sword. We loved being here over this period, as the hotel really does go all out. The whole place was decorated and lots of themed drinks and food. It was a fantastic experience. The downside was over this 3 days, the hotel was very busy, and almost felt too busy in the buffet etc. I know it’s a different culture than the UK – but the local people staying weren’t exactly friendly, or willing to queue like us Brits. All the staff were super friendly throughout our stay, and after the 3 days of Halloween and Day of the dead, the place quietened back to normal. Please don’t let this put you off, Halloween and Day of the Dead is a great time to be in Mexico and was a great experience. The Hotel is full of wildlife – Iguana’s, Gecko’s, Coati’s (Mexican Racoons), Capybara’s & loads of different types of birds are all over the hotel – We loved it and the kids loved it. Probably not the place for you if you hate animals – Although they were never inside the buffet or anything. A massive Iguana lived in the tree outside our room (Room 32914), and we loved seeing him everyday. Loads of Golf buggy trains around so don’t be put off that this hotel isn’t right on the beach. All inclusive beach bar was OK, as was the beach. Not the best we’ve been to, but was OK. There’s also a central Market type area where there is also an all inclusive bar, and they did quote a few events there like kids disco’s etc. Made for a nice change of location. Lots of music acts in the main courtyard – and loads of shows in the Theatre. The Magic show was absolutely brilliant (Much better than you’d think it was going to be). All in all – We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel.

Hotel: 4/5 pretty nice & big - rooms could use some upgrading & there’s no beach, you have to take the hotel’s transportation & it’s a bit of work by the time you get to the beach all chairs are taken unless you go super early. Food: 3/5 we couldn’t book any restaurants so we had to eat at the buffet all week & food was okay.. Staff: 2/5 I would say I’m quite disappointed, we’ve always had a great experience every time we travel to Mexico but this time I’m not sure why but the staff here were rude, from the second we arrived & checked in the girl was giving us attitude, most of the waiters/waitresses & front desk people looked like they didn’t wanna be there, they would walk away while we were ordering. The manager at the buffet and Alexis at front desk were the nicest people. Service needs MAJOR improvement. there’s no staff serving drinks or food by the pools, you have to go get your own drink/food every time to the snack bar. The hotel has “topless not allowed” signs everywhere (which is great considering it is a family resort) & there was a lady topless in her balcony by the kids pool & nobody said anything & also a guy in a thong. They need to be more strict with these rules. The entertainment team was great but at the pool foam party they were dancing like they’re at a strip club (again, it’s a family resort) Rooms are a bit far and if you have kids (strollers etc) make sure you get ground floor rooms because they don’t have elevators. I guess it’s okay for the price you’re paying but I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Mexico was amazing, the resort was great apart from the room was dated and smelt badly of damp and the inner area of the resort (restaurants/lobbys/entertainment area) had no air con only fans which was just circulating the heat around. The facilities within the resort where very good, the choice of a la carts was very good but advice to anyone attending would be to book the a la cart restaurants the day you get there as if you don't you won't get to use them. Another great thing was that we could use the facilities of the neighbouring grand bahia tulum and akumal resorts. We only used the beach on tulum which was a nice beach didn't use the akumal resort. The food was great but as mentioned earlier no air con any where so your practically siting sweating and eating and if you have any of the Mexican food (jalepenos) your going to feel worse lol. Overall the options in all the meals at the buffet where great. Oh contrary to what people tell you you don't have to tip everywer you go that's your choice no one says anything if you don't or if you do they don't realy care.

The resort is too big. Their focus is on quantity and not quality. You don't have access to the sister resorts (Akumal, Tulum). You can go to the sister resorts and walk around, but they won't serve you a drink and let you get a coffee, ridiculous. The buffet is average; I never want pizza, hot dogs, or chicken nuggets again. There are many areas where they can improve.

Weather, food, pools, beach, entertainment, staff/customer service, rooms - all excellent! I don't have a single complaint about Grand Coba. It was our first time in Mexico and we couldn't have chosen a better resort for our family (with 2 kids aged 11 & 17). We enjoyed the evening theatre shows and live music in the terrace, the a la carte restaurants, the amazing buffet food, coffees and drink varieties and anytime we had a question or request, staff was there to assist with a smile. The resort is not beach front, but trolleys come frequently to take you wherever you need to go. We will be back one day to enjoy the resort for another visit!

This place is fantastic!!!! So much to do. The only reason I give it a four star instead of 5 is because the one thing I would change is the people that follow you around like stalkers trying to sell you the upgrades and timeshares. Those guys pop out of bushes and scare the crap out of you. It’s like a crazy magic show!! lol. I would instead recommend the hotel just have a few brochures in peoples rooms showing what they have to offer in terms of the privilege club, upgrades, excursions etc. That way people can have the option of booking a time to discuss these options if they are interested as apposed to really pushy people trying to sell you this stuff. Other than that, my hubby and I had an amazing anniversary at Bahia. They treated us so good. I told them it was our anniversary and when we got there they had a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us along with a sign on our door saying happy anniversary. Rodolfo was an amazing waiter. The last day before we left he had a table set up for us with a cute little display. The drinks were great!!! The first thing I did when I got there was get on the Facebook page and ask what everyone’s favourite drinks were and the post went crazy. I was sure to try pretty much all of them. The buffet is huge. Even if you are a picky eater, you will always find something. You will definitely never go hungry. What I do recommend is to get some better desserts though. Most of them were lacking but I made up for it with ice cream. 😂 I recommend maybe adding some tres leches desserts in there etc. The nightly entertainment was fantastic as well. A little hard to find seats unless you get there early. I will definitely be back and I’m going to bring the whole family this time around. Thank you Bahia.

We have just returned from 11 nights at Coba and have loved every minute! The place is stunning, the pools and pool side entertainment are excellent. The beach is great and not too far although the ride in the golf buggy helps. Buffet food, quality of drinks and evening shows all wonderful. Absolute paradise!

Just returned from a week at Coba and we had a fabulous time! Rooms-Apparently the rooms are all about to be updated and their age is definitely showing, but they were spacious and airy with a balcony and a great semi-separate living room space where the couch was converted into a bed for our daughter before we arrived. The bathroom had a shower/bath with jets and a nice big sink space. On our last day, the ceiling started leaking from an overflowing A/C unit. Maintenance came and fixed it and we went to customer service in the lobby where the woman apologized and gave us an extra a la carte for our trouble. Entertainment-we thought the entertainment was fantastic. Our favourite part of the evening were the Kids Club shows when the kids could go up on stage and do performances. My kids took part in the circus show and had so much fun! The Kids Club staff are so kind and attentive and I’m amazed they got my shy little girl up on stage and in a clown costume! The kids party in the Hacienda was over-the-top incredible. They had snacks, souvenirs, a dance party, face painting, a big screen movie…it was amazing. The silent disco was unbelievably fun, as was the foam party. This hotel always has something going on. There are live music performances, and surprises for the kids every night around the lobby. Pools-The pools are beautiful with a tropical feel and even a bit of shade thanks to the big palm trees. There are whirlpools, swim up bars, bridges, and places to eat and both of the big pool areas. Our room was right next to a heated jacuzzi which was a great place to hang out in the late afternoon. Food and Drinks-Mikado was definitely the best meal of the trip. They did the hibachi grilling right in front of us and the food was delicious. We also tried La Gourmet, Mediterranean and the Japanese Fusion. They were all quite good, but they are true European dining experiences in that there is a long wait between courses. It was enjoyable for the grownups, but it was hard for the kids to sit there for 2+ hours. The service in the a la cartes and buffet was wonderful. Drinks were best in the lobby. My kids loved helping themselves to hot chocolate at the coffee machines in the lobby and they could add things like cinnamon and lemon slices which they thought was really cool. The buffet has a whole area that is kid height with kid friendly food. Beach-We are not beach people, so we only spent one day at the beach, but it was ok. The one bar that Coba people are allowed to use always has a long line, and the bathroom is quite far from the chairs. I can see why people that love the beach would not be happy with this resort. The tram takes about 5 minutes or you can walk and it takes about 15 minutes, but that can feel like a lot on a hot day. On our last day we paid $15 each to have access to the Akumel, Tulum and Sian Ka’an sister resorts but it was NOT worth it. Those resorts have nothing that Coba doesn’t have and the buffets were half the size with way longer lines for food. Having said that, it might be worth it if you want to spend a lot of time on the beach, as those beaches are definitely better. We loved all of the wildlife around the resort. There were agoutis, coatis and big lizards all over the place and they were not shy! We had a blast and I’m sure you will to!

This is great mid priced option for a Mexico break . The staff are very accommodating and the rooms although a little dated are spacious and very clean . The pool areas are lovely but finding a parasol is a challenge - we had a 5 year old with us so finding shade in 30 degree heat is essential . The food in the buffet restaurants is good quality and very varied . We were placed in a quiet block facing the quiet pool and were really happy with the beautiful view and the proximity to the pool and lunch restaurants . The entertainments team are really good and make all the children feel really special especially Ender who I think is the manager - he learns everyone’s names and our little boy just loved him ! If you are staying here I’d avoid the lobby shops as they are hideously overpriced and I’d sort out any trips you want to do before you come because the hotel organised excursions are very expensive . Overall we would rate this holiday as one of the best family all inclusive we’ve stayed at and we had a great time !
