Clean tidy little place, has everything you need. Friendly staff. Bedding was ok and close to shops, Countdown 5mins down the road (South). Nice city views of Auckland in the south. Great over night stay.

Stayed at this hidden Gem from May 18, 2016 to May 21, 2016 with my family. This place is old but has character and it is a family run business which we enjoy to support. From talking with the young lady on the phone through check in and check out, Daisy at the front desk were always very professional, courteous, caring, smiling with a can do attitude and the same with the owners. She walked over to our room in making sure we were ok and understand where everything are located. Overall experience was great and would recommend this Gem to friends and family and they earned our future business. Thank you Howick Motor Lodge for your Great Customer Service and the advises. Sincerely, Wil & Brenda.

Do not book here! Despite considerable distance from airport, we chose this motel specifically because it was sold as a two bedroom unit. It was not. It is an open plan unit with 2 beds on a mezzanine floor that is open to the lower level, where the queen bed is located. No doors, no privacy whatsoever. The two sleeping areas, along with the bathroom on the upper floor, are connected by an extremely narrow, very steep, highly dangerous staircase that has no upper rails at all - you brace yourself against the walls. No smoke alarms, 1/4 roll of toilet paper, milk sachets that contained mould.. we are surprised this motel is permitted to operate.

The motel is very tired. It needs to have some significant upgrade work done on it in the immediate future. Many parts of our room were well worn and probably had not been upgraded since the motel was completed which I would estimate as the late 1970s/ early 1980s. It was clean and the beds comfortable with very personable service from management.

This is one of only two lodges within easy reach - 7 mins - of the ferry to Waiheke at Half Moon Bay
The location is fine, easy to find and off the main road
The room we occupied was basic and probably would have been designed and built in the 70s. Cleanliness and facilities need updating.
For the money, this was, frankly unacceptable and I have a personal dislike of motels that dip their prices by 30% at the last minute - guys, the price is the price!!

We stayed here for 2 nights, attending a conference in nearby Howick Village. Room was clean, very comfortable, exceptionally efficient and friendly service. Highly recommended. Price also very affordable and value for money.

Stayed for a total of 16 nights during a recent 3 week trip to NZ. We were visiting family in two nearby towns and the motel was about halfway between Pakuranga and Cockle Bay or downtown Howick. The place was easy to find and looks clean and well maintained. It was a great base from which to visit the Auckland area. Be aware that it isn't overly close to the motorway and city center...we weren't looking for that.
The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We stayed in a room with a loft/second floor and kitchenette. There are three of us and it felt like we had plenty of space to not be on top of each other. TV, toaster, microwave and kettle were all provided and worked well. Service was good, staff was pleasant, and the free WiFi worked well enough to stream video with minimum buffering. There was a fan in the room which worked well enough...no AC, but we were there in early fall and it was fine.
Laundry on site worked well for a fee and the pool looked clean (we didn't swim).
Overall, we were happy and would definitely stay there again.
