Detailed Reviews
I organized this trip and husband and I ended up in the Family Suite #201: There is one flight of stairs to access it. VERY big room with two firm comfortable Queens, an extra large bathroom, and full width of windows overlooking the Trans Canada and the train tracks at a distance. Excellent blinds/drapes and nice to have so much light. About 6-7 stairs down take you to a lower level in this suite, with full kitchen, D-R table to accommodate 6, a Futon bed/couch and window overlooking the front parking lot.....again nice to check on snowfall. Kitchen extremely well stocked with full fridge/freezer, microwave, plentiful coffee/tea supplies and a great assortment of pots/bowls, dishcloths and towels. There is a $15 fee/notice over sink if people prefer not to clean their dishes. We needed two more wine glasses and got them readily from the bar. There was only one big coffee mug but again, easy to ask for another. There is a "FUNKY" store below the office, down a flight of stairs that is open at certain advertised times if one wanted to purchase a Latte or muffin or cool socks/hats/memorabilia. Jennifer C. could not have been more accommodating to our group. Parking lot had been nicely shovelled out. We stayed previously and stayed on back side but found it much darker due to hearty snowfalls that somewhat block the view. I wear hearing aids but neither of us were troubled by train or hwy noise. As Bow Valley Locals, we love Field and the people who reside there!! It has been hard hit by Kicking Horse construction closures and a lack of Parks support for XC trail maintenance in winter, which is done by a handful of volunteers, many of whom are seniors. I will review their incredible restaurant on that specific page. We found four Truffle Pig chocolates on the night tables: delicious chocolate. One of the restaurant staff gave us our room keys upon arrival around 3:15, as front office door was locked until staff arrived at closer to 4pm, which is official check in. Had a little trouble getting our big TV working but again, the Bistro staff member came up and got us connected. Did I not say the staff are "VERY accommodating!!" Support this awesome place. While Field is officially located in BC, just west of the Great Divide, the time zone is still Alberta's, since time does not change until closer to Golden.

Our ski club packs out the lodge twice a winter to enjoy the fabulous hospitality of Truffle Pigs. And ski the amazing scenic trails in the area. Jen and her staff go overboard to make us feel welcome and look after us with warm friendly hospitality every time. Always prepared for weather eventualities, they generously cancelled our smaller group when it was simply far too cold to ski at the last minute - with no penalty. Food is amazing so far from any major centre, fresh, innovative and generous. Always look forward to the next visit.

Field, British Columbia is a charming town that many bypass on their way to Lake Louise or Banff. Well, I'm here to tell you to stop in and stay at least one night in the Truffle Pigs Lodge. We arrived early and could not get an "on time" checkin as many guests had checked out that day and the cleaning staff were trying to keep up. We drove to the touristy Emerald Lake Lodge to look around and at the first possible moment we got out of there (did I say "tourtisty?") and were able to check in. Our room was on the second floor and it was lovely with all the amenities - fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and snacks / beverages for purchase. The room was warm as there is no air conditioning but most of the time it's not needed in this mountain town, so we used the two fans provided and cool air came in at night. There was very minimal train noise even though trains come through quite regularly (trust me, we had been in Wabamun, Alberta 3 weeks earlier and the trains blasted their horns through town every 15 minutes). The Lodge also has an attached Bistro, which was delicious, and not overly hard to get into once the day tourists had moved on, as well as a small cafe / store in the basement where you could get muffins, coffee and snacks for your hike the next day, which we did. There is lots of outdoor seating so you could sit and stare at the mountains all day if you liked. The town was lovely and they even offer a historic walking tour on Thursday nights. The people are ultra friendly and proud of their town, and there is a tourist information centre that will set you on your way with hikes in Yoho National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our comfortable stay at Truffle Pigs Lodge and would highly recommend.

We stayed overnight at the Truffle Pig Lodge to break up a trip home. Field is rustic and charming, and that theme continued on to the Truffle Pig. Our rooms were comfortable and quiet and we were not overly bothered by the train noise several times during the night. What sets this place apart from other places is the total lack of service and courtesy shown by its staff. From the moment we checked in to the time we checked out the staff was unfriendly and bordered on arrogant. We sat down for breakfast at the Bistro before 9, believing we would be well done before check out at 10, and although there was only one other group in the restaurant we did not get finished until just before 10 (due to slow service, and again not getting our orders correct). We rushed our bags out of our rooms and checked out at 10:05 only to be severely chastised by the staff for being late and told we were being charged an extra fee. Oh yeah, the staff that chastised us was the same waitress that got our orders wrong. We will not stop here again, the Truffle Pig is way over priced for the value.

It was the hottest week in BC July 1-2, 2021, average temperature raised over 45 degrees. The lodge has NO air conditioner!!! We have to beg for a fan, turn out the fan was super small and dirty (see pic). The air was too hot that the little fan felt nothing… then we tried to ask for a 2nd fan which was dirty and not generate much wind either… temperature from outside of the room was even lower than inside!
I went to their pub and hope to get some ice but the waitress said unable to give me ice coz they need that for tomorrow! So ended up unable to sleep for 2 nights. I even got a minor heatstroke!
Not recommend if you are going there in summer! Good luck to sleep with high heat! Winter is ok (I guess) their lightbulbs in the room and the lightbulbs in the bathroom generate sooooooo much heat!
Also the lodge is super dirty (beside the fan), webs everywhere. No liner in the ice bucket. Not enough electrical sockets for charging phone.

Our first time staying at Truffle pigs and it was delightful. The room very nice and staff were a pleasure. One particular young man working in the bistro looked after us very well and gave great service. The only thing I could ask is if the room came with some utensils and plates and bowls. We went to the shop before we arrived, and had no bowl to eat our cereal or to prepare lunches. Alongside this, would be amazing if they gave discount at the bistro due to staying in the lodge. We love the bistro but expensive to eat there every night and we couldn’t eat what we brought with us.

It's nice to wake up in a full service lodge surrounded by the most beautiful scenery in the Rockies. Centrally located in Yoho National Park and home to an incredible restaurant the Truffle Pigs is a cozy retreat with a real mountain feeling. Yes the trains run close by and the town is very small with limited services but for folks wanting a backcountry experience with front country access it's perfect. The rooms have character and are nicely furnished, the ambiance is very mountain town. It's all you need to as a base to truly explore the real Rockies. Pricing is reasonable, rooms are well appointed, food is great, parking is easy, surrounding area is filled with exploring opportunities winter or summer. a favorite!

When it seems quite an impossibility; in a very small village you would simply drive past, as it is almost unnoticeable from the road, where the only other business is a post office and a potter, amongst sincere homes and a few that have seen fresher days, you will find, hidden at the end, The Truffle Pigs, a place that by all means is so weirdly located it shouldn’t survive and yet…
We haven’t seen the rooms but clearly it’s success is largely owed to its kitchen and the amazingly professional young staff.
Mussels in a white wine slightly reddened by tomatoes tarragon cream sauce, prawns pappardelle pasta with roasted pepper, pealed roasted tomatoe and italian broccoli, charcuterie board with boar pâté amongst other impressive meals you can have as well as a burger.
I guess someone said: “If you build it they will come” and they believed it, and come they do.
We were there on a Saturday, Sunday and Monday night for dinner and they were packed!
Should you ever go to the small village of Field, treat yourself at a very reasonable price and if Slade or his mom are there don’t think you can talk french and get away with it… They speak it very well 😳😂

Good location.
We stayed on two occasions during the summer.
Room was not cleaned well: room #1 had dust balls on the floor and this when the hotel was sold out so being cleaned daily. Room #2 had old food in the fridge so you know it was not cleaned.
The air conditioning did not work well and as it was a hot summer day and at night it was too warm in the room.
The hotel has done a good job trying to social distance the many people visiting its restaurant but all the lining up for the restaurant was outside my room door so I had to run past a line of people to get to and from my car and the set up made it difficult for me to keep away from these folks. So I did not feel safe.
WiFi worked poorly and intermittently for three full days.
There was a power outage during our stay. We were told this is frequent. So be aware.
All in all it was pleasant, but could easily have been great if there were a few tweaks (that most other hotels are already doing).

We stayed in the lodge for 4 nights. It was absolutely amazing. The room itself had everything you need, everything was clean and well organized. We also did laundry, only 4 dollars for the washing machine and 1 dollar for the dryer. We also bought breakfast and ice cream, it was delicious. If we are in the area again, I would definitely stop by just to buy some food. Staff was also very nice and welcoming. 10/10 recommendation

Hi. The restaurant is not cheap, but the food is very good. For us, it's more than we would usually pay to go out, but it was worth it.
The town is VERY small. There is one small place just across the road that also has good food (not open for breakfast when we were there). It's also not cheap (but it's cheaper than Truffle Pigs).
