Just returned from a three week vacation, Vancouver Island to Calgary. Most of the hotels we stayed at were high end/ highly rated hotels. On a tour of the island we spent on night here. This hotel was the least expensive of all the locations but had what we were looking for. It is clearly a renovated version of an older hotel but has most things you might want. Our room had an ocean view, was clean and had a good bed. The bathroom was small and still a bit dated but fine for our one night there. We had dinner and drinks on the patio in at the restaurant and also walked along the beach accessible from the hotel. Hotel staff were courtesy and friendly. We would happily book here again if we were on the island again.

Booked last minute after camping washout for my birthday. The Resort Manager Jamie organised our early check in and a lovely bottle of Prosecco and card. Rooms are clean and a good size. Beds are comfy. The bar and the restaurant serve fabulous food. A good selection on the menu. I got a birthday cake dessert, which was a nice touch. All the staff are so friendly, helpful and polite. From reception checking in, to the restaurant host, bar staff and restaurant servers. A well run operation.

The hotel was nicely air conditioned and the rooms were clean bright and comfortable. Wish I could’ve stayed longer! Also the restaurant was outstanding. Both times I was served by Cora and McLean who were both accommodating and friendly!

We only spent one night here on our way to tofino. The common areas of the hotel are getting a bit run down and need a fix up. The room had been updated and was nice. The view from our deck was amazing sunny and right on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and enjoy the beach. One other note there is no electric car charger. It would be nice if they had one

I stayed here with a friend for two nights in a double room overlooking the bay. The hotel is obviously and older build, perhaps a motel at one time, that has undergone a thorough update that sets it apart. The lobby is beautiful and smells amazing (White Tea and Fig but still don't know which brand) and the check-in clerks were lovely. Our room was bright and clean with a beachy vibe and had a lovely little balcony with two wicker chairs and a small table. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The only issue we had was when returning to our room after a day out, neither of our cards worked. It was a long wait at the reception before we finally spoke to someone (several people checking in and one in particular taking ages) our card keys were not the issue, so then a maintenance man was sent up. We stood in the hallway for another ten minutes as he attempted to switch the battery. He had to leave to get another one and finally decided to let us in while he was gone. I don't know why he didn't let us in right away and then work on it (he had a master key to manually open it). We were tired and wanted to get ready for dinner and it was irritating to spend 20 minutes until we got help and then another 10 waiting as he tried to repair it. I honestly hate card keys - the cards are easily erased by being next to your cell phone and I've had that happen so many times and I thought that had to be the issue at first. I just wish we could go back to proper keys! Any way, other than that, the stay was wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and they are still working on them by the indoor/outdoor pool. There is a path that takes you down to the water where there is a deck with adirondack chairs. Perfect for after dinner at the restaurant, which has a lovely patio with 2 fire tables and great food. I will definitely be back. This is now my Parksville/Qualicum Beach hotel.

Really liked this hotel. You can tell it's had a recent update and they have done a really good job of it. The check-in staff were super friendly and helpful. The room had a superb view over the ocean, with regular fly-bys by bald eagles. The pool was a great size, so was able to enjoy a little swim. The restaurant was also really nice, we got to enjoy some live music while we were there.

This is a great hotel. The service at reception and in the restaurant was outstanding. Our room was very large and clean with a very comfortable bed. We really enjoyed our dinner in the regular overlooking the bay. Free overnight car parking. I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

We chose the Bayside Resort in Parksville due to its oceanfront location and facilities, and were not disappointed. Though an older property, it has been recently and tastefully refreshed. The staff were welcoming, and we had an excellent room on the top floor with the breathtaking ocean views. There must have been at least half a dozen bald eagles constantly flying by. The beds were comfortable, and the balcony was amazing, equipped with great chairs. The restaurant was good, however closed too early - as many things do in Parksville. The pool was nice, however a pity it no longer has a roof to keep things warm. I would definitely look to stay here again when in the area.

What an understated GEM. We had rooms and dinner here for a family celebration. We were in Los Angeles at the Waldorf Astoria and in Dubai at Royal Le Meridien Resort in the last two months and neither place could best The Bayside for service and food quality. It was far and above expectations! A simple WOW is not sufficient but all we can add

Pool and hot tub were closed. The website offered a free grab and go breakfast. There was no sign or mention of it. This is a pet hotel. Ran into a large doberman (dog) going into the elevator on third floor. Pets should have been confined to first floor. A small expresso machine in the room but no coffee maker. The lobby appeared modern and clean but not overly inviting. Hallway carpets faded. The room was small (2 queen beds) no sitting chair. Definitely would not recommend this hotel.
