The staff here are really great and always going above and beyond to accommodate my needs, whether it's finding me a safe spot to secure my bike or storing my frozen food in their freezer so it doesnt defrost too early before my camping trip. I also enjoy that it's walking distance to some of the great breweries in Port Alberni and an easy bike ride to the the waterfront area!
Hotel was nice and clean and bedding was comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Most amenities closed due to covid, but this is the hotel I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Port Alberni. It's on a busy road but we didn't notice any bothersome traffic noise.
We stayed there for 2 weeks. The staff was friendly - front, housekeeping and restaurant. The room is clean and had enough room for all our stuff. I had a hard time sleeping on their pillow because they don't stay flat, but my husband and son did not have that issue. There are 2 elevators - they're a bit on the slow side and sometimes the one wasn't working. We would definitely consider staying here again if we're back in this area.
With Best Western you never know as the brand includes a huge variety of hotels worldwide. This is why I am always a bit hesitant. However, with this one, no need to worry. We stayed in two different rooms, one with a king, one with a queen. Both really good. Great shower, in the bath, which I never understand, but my problem… large lobby, reasonable check in. There is is pub/ restaurant area which we did not use, but the pub looked like quite a lot was happening. The rooms have great beds, good airco and a coffee an d tea maker. Here is my request, why are there 10 coffee cups, but only one tea bag? You can easily change that. Wifi is free and works well, except at the surprisingly large pool area. The pool is at least 15 meters and deep too, lot of beds, but no shade. Large parking in front and walking distance, 10 min, to two of the best restaurants, Boomerangs and bare bones, see other reviews. 1,5 hour depending traffic to Tofino, and Uclelet which is a wonderful trip, but except for surfing anf whale and bear watching, not the place to be.…
Reasonably priced, friendly, clean and comfortable hotel. There is an onsite restaurant and bar/grill, both of which overlook a lovely in season pool area. Staff are helpful and eager to please. There is ample parking and the hotel is centrally located. I have stayed in Port Alberni before, but this was the first time at the BW Barclay - it is the best place to stay and I will be back.
Big rooms / very quiet place / team bey helpfull and restaurant there is very good (not too expensive) - the n’est western has à Big free parking / à negativ point : no continental or complementary breakfast included
Went on a surf trip to Tofino and required a place to stay that was less expensive. This provided a budget friendly option about a 1.5 hour drive from Tofino. Great hotel for a minimal stay. Has basic in suite amenities and the staff are helpful and friendly. The town itself has nearby amenities by car and a few nearby restaurants. I would recommend!
I would like to say each and every time I stay at the Barclay I am treated with respect and dignity. My check in is seem less, they know me by first name, and are always so polite and respectful. They are always professional.
Our family stayed here to attend a wedding. We all said this hotel has the best staff and service ever. We would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend to friends and family. Great reception, bar and restaurant outstanding.
We wanted to see Pacific Rim National Park and the Nanaimo, Campbell River and Chemainus areas during our BC trip. The Best Western Plus Barclay Hotel, Port Alberni offered us a quality location to use as a base in the central part of the island and the small ciy offered several attractions and amenities that helped to make our three day visit enjoyable. The friendly Best Western hotel staff gave excellent service. The hotel room was clean and the king bed very comfortable. The room's space, seating and bathroom were adequate. The hotel and the surrounding community were very quiet. The hotel's restaurant and lounge delivered great meals from the same kitchen. There is lots of free parking and a wine and liquor store attached to the building.
