Detailed Reviews
No one picks Princeton to stay in so it has to be for a purpose. This hotel is great location and the managers try very hard to make sure your stay is great. The rooms are very dated, they have everything you need in there and Managers make you feel like you are a special customer. They made sure we all had breakfast for the morning even though we were leaving before they opened up.

Careful when you book here: you may have a confirmed booking for a room with a queen bed only to arrive and find that room has been given to a preferred guest (ie one of the many workers staying at the motel). The WIFI was weak. the road workers who were living / staying there were noisy but kind of put a lid on it by 11 or so.
The air con was too noisy to use.
On the plus side: water pressure was excellent. There were good toiletries. Pillows were top.
Excellent coffee and lots of it. There was a deep bath tub but no safety railings. Best of all - REAL glasses and mugs!
The staff were helpful as well as apologetic about the switch to our booking. Apparently they have no control over it.

Stayed just one night but the room was very clean and comfortable and the location convenient. The area was very smoky overnight so we needed to keep the noisy air conditioner on all night but that is no fault of the hotel. Cool and noisy was much better than hot and smoky.
Would stay again next time and spend a couple fo days in what appears to be a lovely little town.

Hotel's Favourite
Best hotel in Princeton. Staff are friendly, rooms are exceptionally clean, they go above and beyond to solve any small issues that may arise. Beds are some of the best I’ve slept on during my travels. Only “complaint” the Pillows are too fluffy so I bring my own(personal preference). Keeping in mind this is an “inn” not a hotel it has all the basic amenities you need. It’s a comfy home away from home. Quiet and peaceful- even when it’s at full capacity!

I really appreciated the warm, helpful reception. The receptionist's young son after greeting me as well, had me in stitches. After the stress of travelling in winter conditions and for a family emergency, it really brightened my trip. The motel felt safe and clean and the bed was cozy. I had no problem with the internet. I also really appreciated the full size alcohol wipe provided in the room for added protection during Covid. Much easier to use than the mini-sized squares I travel with. All in all a good value with lovely front desk people.

We had made reservations for a stay in April 2022. But after having a look at the room we cancelled the reservation and went elsewhere. Here's why:
This is a really rundown hotel. Rooms are very small and
not at all similar to what the pictures on their website show. The rooms look new or at least renovated in the pictures, but the rooms are just old. The back of the building is in much need of repair with very old looking stairs and lots of potholes on the back parking lot. We also saw trash at the back. Princeton is a mining town and the old hotels and motels there are often used to house mining workers. This is probably the reason that old hotels like the Sandman still exist and basically can get away with the lack of renovations of both the inside of the hotel and the premises. The favorable reports are probably mostly of mining workers who have different needs and a different outlook on things then tourists. We can not recommend this hotel unless the prices would drop to 80 dollars a night at the most instead of 129 dollars per night (excl. tax). This place feels like a cheap motel.
There's no separate breakfast area. The small breakfast selection is stashed on the reception counter.
Also: the lady who checked us in addressed me constantly with "sweety" and "honey"; quite inappropriate!

We stayed here at the sandman in Princeton because our home was flooded and we lost everything. The compassion that was shown to us by Julie , was like no other. She made sure we were fed (breakfast, lunch & dinner) and always had coffee for everyone. In such a time of sorrow for pretty much almost everyone staying there , we all laughed and smiled and it was like she put us all at ease that we forgot what has happened to our properties while talking to her . I will never forget her or her hospitality and if every hotel had employees like her, what a wonderful world it would be. Thank you Julie , for being such a gracious host & making everyone feel welcome, safe & most of all cared for. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts . As you said to all of us “ now , if your back this way again, drop in and see us luh”. Lol I think it’s Newfoundland slang .

Broken A/C in 100+ degree heat. Unclean, NO HELP..given a small fan to help with heat-WAS A JOKE. DO NOT STAY. This place is horrible. The front desk clerk was clueless and offered a fan in the 100 degree heat to help with our room. It was a mess. It's unclean, loud, a overall disaster.

A great place to stay. Very clean... the staff are amazing and with a great sense of humor. Business trips can be boring so it's nice when staff members help your trip by making you feel at home. Would definitely return there.

Not what I expected from the Sandman hotel chain. The motel was dirty, dated, with few amenities, and no customer service. My door didn’t close tightly, and had obviously been kicked in at some point. There are no phones in the rooms, I had to call the front desk with my own phone, asking for pillows. They refused to bring any pillows, because it was after 11 PM, and the hotel is closed and the front doors are locked after 11 PM. At $125 per night, I expected more. If you are in a pinch, it will do fine, but you can do better.
