We chose the Solara Resort & Spa for a family trip to explore the national parks in the area to celebrate the new year.

I have to say one of my favorite things about the Solara was Lizzie from the front desk, she was incredible! She made us feel at home from the moment we checked in, even recognized our voices whenever we called the front desk and handled all of our questions in the kindest, most professional way!

The property itself is lovely, right at the entrance to Canmore, a quick walk into town. There is heating parking underground which makes getting to and from your car a breeze! The rooms were lovely, we stayed in a two bedroom two bathroom which we found to be very roomy with a beautiful kitchen.

It was also extremely convenient that we were able to get our park passes to go in and out of Banff National Park everyday from the front desk with a deposit to ensure their return.

I would love to stay here again if we traveled to explore Canmore once more!

This is my 4th time at Solara so I obviously love it, I think I've just become a bit more picky because of how great every other stay was. This time I booked through air BNB but it was definitely the resort running the listing. It was a bit cheaper so I thought I'd give it a go. I was coming out to work on my thesis so it was really important that I had a good view. I asked for mountain view and they said that's what I had, but essentially I had to stand in one little area the balcony and lean over the side to see them. I also had one of the balconies that were wooden and high which was weird. If it was your first time here and you got this room I'm sure you'd love it, but my suggestion to get your money's worth (because this place aint cheap) is to be specific in your requests. Specifically ask for a glass balcony and ask to face south - that will be the best for views. I have attached two rooms I stayed in, one from this stay and one from last that are the same price in photos, one from last year and one for this year - you can see that they range quite a bit.

We booked two nights at the Solara to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel and suite was clean and comfortable. Underground parking was great. The suite was fully equipped with utensils, pots & pans, and everything you would need to enjoy a weekend in the mountains.

Our concerns included lack of hot water in the kitchen, even after running the tap for five minutes. After calling guest services to inform them that the water was freezing, we were told that due to the weather, it was likely why the water was cold. However, it was only an issue in the kitchen..

Constant noises late at night, including doors slamming shut, which made it hard to sleep.

We looked forward to our trip after hearing reviews from family and friends. Unfortunately, our experience was a bit different.

3 nights. Special Req. initially granted at booking, but upon confirmation, rejected.. 3bd n 2 ba turned into a 3bd n 3 ba. None of the stove-top elements works, but eventually provided 2 induction stoves. No nonstick cookware, 3 bowls, 4 dishwashing n laundry cubes for 6 adults, 2 small children n 1 baby. Dinner table is unstable. BBQ is totally "cheesy". Premium suite/top floor, but very noisy when a window is opened. "Low" fan, with or without AC is the same, "Noisy". Fair size public hot tub has 1 functional jet, no Game Rm. We didn't check Fitness nor Theatre. 2 rental water sport equipment, one is faulty. Code entrance to suite takes 3-8 tries. Otherwise, the staff is great. Will not book again.

Prior to writing this review, I sent a private message to the manager of the Solara. I waited three days for a response, an explanation: it was clear none was forthcoming. It feels like the Solara just doesn't value its customers the way they once did. Successful organizations lead by example, and if management isn't open to addressing customer concerns, it only follows the rest of the organization will adopt this perspective.

I feel like other longtime customers of Solara should know their latest experience will likely be far different than previous stays.

I had reserved a two-bedroom premium suite for my family. We were booked into the Chinook building.

Although I hadn't expressly booked a mountain view, I had hoped for at least a partial view in a quiet suite. Instead, the Chinook unit overlooks the courtyard and is directly across from the parkade. Not quite what I had hoped for when I booked our restful retreat.

When we walked in the room at 5:30pm, the dishwasher was still going and filled with *all* the dishes in the unit. The first order was to empty the dishwasher...not a wonderful start.

Then, I walked into the master suite and realized there was no where to hang-up my clothes and was greeted with the furnace (see picture attached); the blinds in the second room weren't working properly (later called maintenance who took them down for the night and later the next day brought them back with the cord held together by green masking tape); eating dinner that first night, I was saddened to see how scuffed and marked the dining room table had become over the years. Finally, as I was making the bed for the night, I noted the interior duvet was filthy.

In another universe from what I would call a *premium* experience.

It was truly sad to see how the Solara has fallen into a state of such disrepair. It was all the more disappointing as I was expecting the same level of service/ accommodation I had experienced in previous stays over the last nine years.

This marks our last stay at the Solara after nearly a decade of loyalty. Very disappointing.

We had stayed at Solara in 2017, and loved the 2 bedroom suite we had for our family of 4
When we booked this latest trip, we requested the same room type.
It was a 2 bedroom suite but definitely not the same one we had previously.
This one was not an ideal lay out or as spacious.
And even though check in isn’t until got extra cleaning measures, the suite itself still felt kind of grungy. I brought wipes and Lysol from home, and even after my cleaning, it still didn’t feel comfortable being in the suite.
I refused to take my socks off, and could feel crumbs and gunk being stuck to the bottom of my feet through my socks. I spilt water and when I wiped it off the floor, the amount of black residue that came off the floor was absolutely appalling.
The room is in serious need of a refresh, and the carpets need to go.
The price for what we got was not worth it.
We would not return.
Here’s the couch we had for reference to how outdated our room was.

We have stayed at The Solara before and love this property. We were so looking forward to going away to relax & celebrate some special achievements. Unfortunately, my partner got sick and we knew we had to cancel. We contacted Hotels.com and were advised that we were to late and per hotel policy we would be charged one night, taxes and fees… ouch! The booking agent agreed to call Solara and to our relief they agreed to provide a FULL refund. Even better, the amazing team at the hotel has offered us the same special pricing when we are able to come again. This is above and beyond what we would ever expect. Their compassion, understanding and generosity is appreciated and we look forward to our next stay! Thank you, Sylvester and team.

Room was nice, resort was dated. Wanted to get a workout in, employee at spa said they are full and advised we go to the gym up the road (where we would have to pay). Overall, not worth the $. Arrived at 3:51PM and could not check in until 4PM. No big deal, but after a 4 hour plane ride and another 1.5 hour drive does 9 minutes really make a difference? Great town, great views. Will stay at a different hotel next time.

We splurged on this stay, and I wanted really nice hotel room with a nice pool and hot tub to relax in after a couple days of cycling and hiking. The furniture and pool experience ruined this. For > $ 400/night, the furniture was extremely worn/torn and should have been at the dump, paint and water damage in BR, paint peeling. Pool and hot tub- no amenities or towels avail,so had to bring from the room, which we were not informed until we got to the pool which was in different building. None of the hot tub jets worked, and no where to turn them on. Food/drink not avail as under Reno’s. Front desk staff were lovely and apologetic, but were pretty helpless - They advised us that all rooms were individually owned as VRBO’s or similar now, which I didn’t realize as booked right no the hotel website. They offered $50 discount. Our room was # 109. Don’t waste your $, at least not until all Reno’s are completed - better options to stay for less $ or more value for $.

Solara is a good resort. However, the units are individually owned and the resort does not seem to take any responsibility for correcting problems that occur. In the unit I had, for instance, the twin beds were made up with king sized sheets so those sleeping in the beds were tied up like mummies in the morning! The comforters were lumpy because the filling was matted from laundering. In addition, this room had burnt out lights and extension cords draped across the floor that could have been tripping hazards. The front desk simply blamed the owner and took no steps to help.

There are large washers and dryers in all suites. Oddly, ours had no detergent but luckily we bought some on the way in before the snowstorm!

I have tried to post this review FOUR times, and it keeps getting rejected be either TripAdvisor or this hotel. What's going on??? Title of review: "Was great until that night when we were woken up by INSANITY" Body of review: "We rented a three-bedroom penthouse unit in the Bow Lodge directly from the owner. It had gorgeous views of the mountains (e.g., the Three Sisters). The unit was clean (owner uses their own maid, not Solara's), spacious, and well-stocked. Our problem was with the resort's maintenance guy's reaction when we reported a major issue that we encountered. At about 2:30am, we bolted out of sleep to be awakened by a maddeningly loud sound that would not stop for over five minutes. (I literally felt like I was going to have a heart attack and almost fainted.) We didn't know if it was a fire alarm or something else. We investigated the hallway outside and did not see any flashing lights. The sound appeared to be coming from the master bedroom closet. The closet was locked. There was an elevator on the other side, though, so we were not sure if something was going on there. After five excruciating minutes, the noise mysteriously stopped. I didn't know whether or not I could call the front desk about this issue that late at night, since we were renting directly from the owner. After being awake for over an hour, we finally fell back asleep and then messaged with the owner. The owner had no idea what it could have been and immediately called the front desk. We got no response from the resort. I stopped by the front desk to see if they heard from the owner. Yes, indeed, they had. And, right as I was talking to the front desk person, a maintenance guy walked by and was summoned by this person. The maintenance guy was in a VERY foul mood and acted very rudely towards me and the front desk person. I described to him what had happened and even showed video that I recorded of the sound. He claimed to be very busy and said he would try to stop by. When he showed up an hour or so later, he knocked on the door and just barged in after I opened it, without even the courtesy to ask if he could come in. He proceeded to lecture me and say that no one had reported any issues with the elevators and that the locked closet did not have anything that would cause such a noise. He claimed that he would check the elevator, but, of course, we never heard back. I reported all of this to the owner, who was dismayed and shocked. Well, so were we. Every person that a hotel or resort hires should be CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED and POLITE. Even if the maintenance guy had no idea what caused (or even no intention to fix it), he AT LEAST should have been polite to us and feigned that he cared. The resort otherwise is well-located and has decent amenities, but due to this ridiculous experience I cannot recommend staying there"
