We stayed here for a getaway weekend and it was all around a great stay. Checking in was simple and quick. The hotel has a pretty nice appearance and the lobby/breakfast area is quite modern. The Market in the lobby is small, but it offers most things you could think of.

We stayed in the 1-bedroom suite and it was quite nice. The room was very clean, and everything seemed to be in working order. The only problem we had found was that throughout the evening and in the middle of the night, a strong cigarette smell would fill the room. This isn't really the fault of the hotel, as we believe someone in a room near us was smoking (and probably just sticking it out the window, if even giving that courtesy). We just turned the bathroom fan on, and it seemed to clear the smell out over time. A little irritating, but we cannot fault the hotel for this, as this was guest conduct and not on the hotels shoulders. On the plus side, the hotel was silent at night.

The room came with everything you could want. Full size fridge, dishwasher, stove (albeit, we ordered out with Uber Eats or Skip each night so we could fully enjoy the weekend). TV's were great and offered HDMI inputs so we could connect our iPhone to stream content. Wi-Fi was pretty quick and worked flawlessly.

Breakfast was actually good quality and offered a very good selection to get you going for the day and the staff at breakfast were incredibly polite and offered a smile.

Front desk was awesome. One of us had forgotten toothpaste, and we were able to quickly grab a tube from the front desk (with a smile). We had also used the app to chat the front desk to request some towels and they sent it up extremely quick. The ability to chat through the app is awesome and definitely a must-have.

All around a very good stay and we will return in the future.

Dear maullar, We appreciate you selecting our Residence Inn for your fun weekend getaway! Your detailed review is great as it provides us with a snapshot of your stay and helps us monitor our guest experience. My sincere apologies that you detected an odor of smoke in your room during your stay. We are a smoke-free hotel and do our very best to obtain guest compliance but, as you mentioned, guests are ultimately responsible for their actions. (There is a significant room recovery fee for guests who do not comply to cover the extensive cost of restoring guest rooms to a smoke-free condition.) At any rate, we are grateful for your comments and your kind words. Please come see us again soon! Best, Anita Shu General Manager

I accidentally dropped and shattered a cookie jar in the kitchen area of my 2-room suite at this Residence Inn. The person at the front desk was quick to send house keeping to clean up as soon as we reported it (it was past 8pm on a Wednesday night). David, the house keeping person who cam to my room, was very helpful, patient, and attentive to details in cleaning the place up. He apologized for keeping me but insisted that I stayed with him in the room so that he could walked me through the affected areas and thoroughly vacuumed and wiped the floor with wet towels to make sure that he picked up all the broken glass pieces (too many!). The level of care and warmth he showed me was something that I had never experienced from house keeping staff I dealt with in my many years of stay in different hotels. David definitely deserved a five stars in making my stay at this place a very memorable one! Thank you David.

Stayed here for about 5 nights. The bed is totally shot, horribly uncomfortable. Requests for towels and toilet paper had to be made a couple times. Hallways have a gross smell, I can’t describe it. I saw several food delivery people in the hotel being let in without a mask. Saw a patron sitting in the lobby on a bench without a mask. Big rooms. Quiet. Clean. But not an enjoyable or very comfy stay overall.

I have stayed here many, many times over the past decade and my loyalty is not appreciated. I don’t drink juice, eat yogourt or their breakfast bars/muffins. I wanted a breakfast sandwich and bagel only but the clerk refused, saying I can have only one or the other. They want to charge $10 if you want an additional item in comparison to pre-pandemic days when you were able to have any quantity you want from the breakfast offferings. I just stayed at Residence Inn in Winnipeg where you could have as much as you want. I will have to stay at Homewood suites Markham next week and going forward unless I hear that this practice has been changed and I won’t be denied two bagels or two sandwiches.

The pillows at comfort inn and motel 6 are better. I could only sleep a couple of hours because no matter how I tried to adjust them they are just plain bad. I knew that though as we’ve stayed here many times because the hotel appears nice and good location but don’t think we can continue. On arrival, we asked if there’s any chance of being upgraded to a two-bedroom. The lady said no. As Marriott bonvoy gold members, we’ve always gotten an upgrade if we asked at other locations. When we said we’ll pay for an upgrade, she suddenly found multiple two-bedrooms since she asked if we had a floor presence. No need to lie, just say you don’t want to give it. Won’t be back unless they change to firm pillows.

Stayed at Residence Inn for a ringette tournament. I was very impressed at the size of the Queen Studio rooms. The layout was perfect and the kitchen was well kitted out. We bring potluck meals and the full-size fridge, microwave and plates/cutlery made it a breeze. The large living space was spacious enough for the 15 or so parents to gather in each evening. The kids loved the pool. The breakfast was the usual free fare - not great but ok. I certainlly wish we stayed in such a great hotel for all our tournaments!

The overall experience at Residence Inn was great. The room was very spacious and the amenities were fantastic. Had a couple of issues the first night due to the room not being fully cleaned, however, one of the housekeepers named David came to our rescue. He not only helped us move all of our luggage to another room, but he did everything he could to ensure we were comfortable and happy. If you find yourself at the Residence Inn I really recommend seeking out David even just for a conversation. He's extremely genuine and will do anything he can to make sure your stay is of the highest quality.

This hotel needs some investment, as the rooms are very dated. This 2 bedroom suite had only 1 USB charger connection and that was on a dinky clock radio. Office desk had only AC receptacles. The windows were filthy inside and out. More amenities needed in the bathroom.
I went to cook a steak on the common area bbq but not enough heat was generated due to broken burners. Maybe it should be retired. I fried it in my room instead, but since the stovetop exhaust only recirculates, I smoked up my room pretty good. The kitchen was well appointed, but no kettle. Just a full size coffee maker. Useless for a single traveler.

Breakfast was average. Service at the hotel was pleasant. The internet was the fastest (premium) I have ever seen (300mbps up/dn).

Welcome gift for Gold+ members is ONE store item or 500 points.

Time to try another hotel in the area next business trip.

The hotel is getting on in years and is already somewhat run down.
We had a room facing the courtyard and the room AC was extremely noisy. So we turned it off and opened the window. Unfortunately, the outside units of the hotel A/C are in the courtyard and even louder. Window closed air conditioning around room on and loud. That doesn't fit the price at all.
But the rooms are clean! Not recommended for vacations only business travelers maybe?!

In the past two months, I’ve visited three Residence Inns - Markham, Calgary and Halifax. Markham is the only one that still refuses to reinstate hot breakfast. It’s been two years. There is no reason not to open hot breakfast like other Residence Inns have. Even the Fairfield inns I’ve stayed at (Sudbury, for one) have it. An English muffin is no longer acceptable. In the meantime, I have found several other hotels near you which I will try that do offer hot breakfast. I will keep calling your hotel once a month to see if it returns and when it does I will return as a guest.
