Top quality hostel! We had a private en suite room, it was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The shower was really good and the beds were really comfy. I've always wanted to try LyLo out. Im usually not one for staying at backpackers, lodges, and dorm like/capsule places, but this place peeked my interest. From word of mouth to the reviews on here and tik tok, I was 💯 percent sure to book it for 2 days as I was going to a concert (NEYO) with my cousin. Booked through webjet in early June, so it was great to know I had time to save and to pay on the day we arrived.
We arrived and staff were very friendly and helpful..self service machines were available to check in which time was 3pm onwards. We were notified that the beds in our room needed to be separated, and that was going to take 10 minutes.
Love that LyLo is convenient and close to everything in the CBD. The private room was great with toilet, sink and bathroom. The single twin beds were so comfortable that I had a great sleep. It may not be very spacious, but the room caters to comfort and great for short stays. Did come with towels extra toilet paper, hand soap, 2 glasses (rewash them), hair dryer, body wash, and shampoo in shower. It was also a clean room with air conditioning if it got hot. There are lots of places to charge your phones too. :)
There are also shared showers, toilets on each floor, and also places to relax or have quiet time to read a book, study, or just listen to music. The restaurant is popular but never got to try out the food, drinks, or coffee. The coolest part is the shared kitchen, which closes at 10pm, though. But it has all the necessities for cooking if you're into that.
I truly think that the price we paid it was worth the stay all in all. I really didn't have a lot of negative things to say, especially for just the simple things that you just need for a short to a weeks stay. Just maybe a bath mat would be recommended in the private rooms because it can get quite slippery between the shower and toilet.
This place caters more to international people, so it can tend to get quite noisy before quiet hours. But as locals, we enjoy the diversity, and maybe some people are not as nice. But that's a normal thing that varies with people, haha. All in all I will be booking to stay here again for sure.

The location of Lylo Auckland is very convenient, there are a few bus routes nearby and the city centre is within walking distance. The pods are bigger than I expected, I am 5’6 and I am guessing the pod beds are 6ft long if not slightly longer. I booked a 4 bed dorm because I am easily woken up by noises and lights, once I closed the pod I couldn’t hear anyone else in the room or see the light even if it was on all night. I did find that I got really hot halfway through the night and the little personal fan didn’t do too much but opening the pod slightly to let a bit of fresh air in and some hot air out did the trick. The facility itself is comfortable and clean, the showers were always very clean, and the kitchen was clean and much more usable than other hostels I’ve stayed in.
I would absolutely seek out Lylo in the future.

Everything great! Everything very clean, so the bathrooms were sometimes locked to clean, but we could always use the others :) Also, you had a lot of privacy in your own pod. Without the fan I found it very warm, but luckily there is the possibility to get a bit of air to the bed. As a 60 year old woman and with my hostel days a long time in the past I don't think I'm the regular kind of guest at Lylo but I had one night there this week with my niece and was blown away. We had a private room which was spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfy with great bed linen and soft pillows (v important to me!). Fab shower and nice touches - shampoo and shower gel and a hanging bag to put your own toiletries in. Everything was so well organised. 10 out of 10

We had a great stay. It had everything at our fingertips. I was in a large group and was ideal for our situation. Things that could be improved upon…working AIR CON upstairs in the rooms please. Our stay was uncomfortably hot. The freestanding fan helped but it’s only a bandaid. Pod beds needed a fan not just a token fan. Also the rooms weren’t cleaned properly and the bathrooms needed more care. More regular cleans and visible times when the bathrooms are cleaned would be helpful. Soap, paper towels and toilet paper to be checked and replenished regularly. For the amount of females using the bathroom more (working) sinks would be appreciated. The staff were amazing though, very helpful and accommodating! I would stay there again, but I would hope a few more attention to details would make my stay a 10/10 as apposed to a 5/10.

When the hostel saw I had a bandaged leg and it would be difficult for me to climb up into a pod they upgraded me to a private room. It was greatly appreciated as I am elderly and was feeling quite weary. I have visited 80 countries around the world and stayed in many hostels and Lylo would have to be a top one. The kitchen is huge, kept spotlessly clean with lots of individual cubicles for bags of food. The staff are friendly and efficient. There is a travel agent, lots of quiet seating areas, a bar and restaurant where staff encourage all travellers to participate in different games each evening. The mattress and linen were top quality. Highly recommended with everything you need for a great stay in Auckland city.

This hostel is spotlessly clean and conveniently located in Auckland. If you're arriving from the airport, take the SkyDrive bus and it's just a 5-minute walk from the drop-off point! The shared bathrooms are clean, modern, and have fantastic (hot!) water pressure. The pods were spacious and had a few power points and USB chargers. Large lockers with keycard access.
Given the price, there are a couple of areas for improvement: ventilation (it got very hot in the pods/rooms), providing towels at no charge, providing toiletries.

I stayed one night in a pod ( in a 4-pod room) The pod was long enough for me ( 5 foot 11/ 180cm ) and the lockable store cupboard next to it felt ample sized. The whole place feels modern and the staff are very helpful. I found the pod overly warm but I had my own small USB fan which was a godsend ( recommend bringing one ) I found the accommodation area quiet and clean and the communal areas very pleasant and comfortable. The attached bar was a bonus. For the money, can't beat it.

Not for the hostel itself. There was a parking lot nearby, but I wasn't driving so I don't know the cost of parking there overnight if it was for anyone to park. It might be worth emailing the hostel to see if they have info on any local parking?
