Detailed Reviews
Clean modern well presented, very quiet room, friendly capable staff ! Good stay ! Interesting vegetarian restaurant ...
Only problems concerned: room services- missed cleaning 1 of 2 nights. ... failing to restock bathroom or check broken bed light, somewhat minimal choices of dinner main courses
Food excellent in both breakfast bar and dinner as well as nicely presented
Bit noisy and not intimate dinner room
Not overall yet up to a 5 star rating
Good potential if Management raised standards
Depending upon relative pricing would stay there again although 5 star at comparable prices exist

I was really looking forward to staying here after reading reviews. Unfortunately the hotel didn’t meet expectation and I’d possibly rate 2.5 if it wasn’t for the staff being so friendly, they’re certainly the most outstanding aspect of the hotel. Pre booked a harbour view U room as it sounded perfect - pamper pack and yoga mat as well as breakfast included in $341 room rate.
Despite arriving early no valet parking available. Room was small with no where to put anything, see picture of bedside table!!! Bed in the middle of the room was impractical and if I’d found the yoga mat I’m not sure where we’d have done it - seriously wouldn’t have been room for 2 people to do at once. Flooring was vinyl planking which we found odd and the view was average. Breakfast was ok but the toaster didn’t work properly so only warm bread. Staff seemed overwhelmed and coffees orders didn’t eventuate. Surprised to have 2% added at check out for visa credit card payment (I don’t recall ever paying a surcharge in a hotel chain).

In the month of January, myself and my friends stayed at the luxurious Sudima Hotel located in Auckland city. We had a warm welcome by the staff at the reception and each and everyone of them were happy to help in anyway possible. We were shown to our room by a kind hearted staff member on the 6th floor and WOW what an amazing view it had of the harbour bridge along with the city buildings. As for the room, it was very modern and well set up. The bathroom was perfect with ammenities provided. The beds were extra comfortable and the tv had a wide range of movies to select from.
Whilst we were enjoying the view from the window, we were surprised with a welcome hamper consisting of vegan friendly snacks, refreshing coconut water along with skincare items such as face masks, shower bombs and sleep balms. This was a very thoughtful surprise and indeed we enjoyed it.
We had a free breakfast at the East eats restaurant with a range of food to select from and it was amazing. All the food is vegan friendly and very delicious.
The lobby has a lot of seating for anyone to enjoy. The beautiful architecture catches ones eye. Very modernised and unique in its own way. Definitely a place to stay!
We would like to say a big Thank you to all the staff that helped us have a wonderful stay at the hotel. We definitely will be back. A highly recommended hotel!

I rate this motel average because it does not state clearly on web sites that it is a vegetarian motel. Also was told no hard liquor from bar after 10pm ( spirits are out) so you better be a wine or beer drinker. After 1 to 2 bottles of beer they kept running out and had to offer different beers. (This was over 4 beers in all). The bar staff was very slow to the point we thought they had forgotten us. On the good side, beds are comfortable, rooms are clean and staff are friendly.

I stayed at the Sudima for three nights over the new year. This contemporary hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. They have a beautiful lobby and clean, well thought out rooms. The bathrooms were perfect and even offered overhead rain shower heads. Beds were comfortable and they had a wide selection of free movies to watch on theTVs, as well as the option to chrome cast whatever I wanted!
Their restaurant “East” was the absolute highlight. The dinner menu was outstanding and I ended up eating there every day of my trip!
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Absolutely could not recommend this hotel enough!
I definitely will be back.

Kia Ora lloem098 Thank you for your compliments and feedback. Our hotel has a rustic modern interior designed by award-winning Sydney based designers, Luchetti Krelle and we are very appreciative of your comments. We’re so glad you had a good experience at our restaurant. East is a modern Asian restaurant providing more sustainable, health-conscious eating without sacrificing taste. Delicious modern-Asian flavours, plant-focused dining. Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again. Warm Regards Roma Patel Hotel Operations Manager

We flew from Australia to nz to meet up with family my sister has accessible needs and even though a lot of hotels claim they are good for accessible but well let’s be honestly mate they are not. We were stuck in another hotel during our 1 day stay in Auckland before leaving to queenstown and that’s where we came to know about Sudima Auckland city. To check it out we decided to book for lunch at their restaurant and may I tell you this is the first time my sister has not felt out of place. The Indian female manager took care of our table. She did not make my sister feel bad about having needs. My sister has lost part of the vision because of the accident and she decided to stand there and read out the entire menu for her and helped her when she needed to use the restroom. We checked out the hotel and the front office staff was very respectful also and made us feel comfortable. The paths are convenient for wheelchairs. Thank you sudima team for making us all feel equal. And thank you to the REstaurant manager who made my sisters day.

Firstly, a huge shout out to the team who worked during the AirNZ cancelled flight fiasco. Sinead gets a special mention; she is an absolute asset. She was so helpful and kind, and even organised a last minute hotel change directly with AirNZ and the new hotel when a couple from our party needed to be relocated (due to no fault of the Sudima).
The room we had was well furnished with comfortable pillows, and curtains that made the room nice and dark. The bathroom also had the best smelling lotions and potions I've experienced at a hotel.
We dined in the main restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and ordered room service for dinner. Everything we had was tasty and fresh, and the staff were attentive and friendly.
Two things that also really impressed me, as simple as they are, were the availability of FREE menstrual products in the room and the common area bathrooms, and the public display of Sunflower lanyard notices to bring awareness to invisible disabilities!
Other hotels would be wise to take note!

The staff were so lovely and welcoming, nothing was a problem. The location is very handy to downtown Auckland bars and restaurants. Being located on the edge of the CBD it is also easy to get out of town. The room was comfortable and clean with a fabulous shower and bed. The size of the room was cosy, enough space for everything needed and induced a desk.
I like the sustainable approach which extends to the attached East restaurant with plant based food menu.

+1
The hotel is at one of the best possible location in Auckland, neat and clean with not very grand entrance and restaurant but that is not a dealbreaker. The most important thing is the room where we have to spend most of the time. I was given a U Room who was so congested that it didn't had a place to keep my 3 luggage bags. It didn't had a cupboard either. I requested them if they have bigger rooms but they said that all rooms are of same size except suit rooms. But the suit room was not available that day and the price difference they asked was too much. I stayed there because it was booked by a friend but 2 days later I just barged into another room on the same 9th floor during cleaning and I found it was bigger and of decent size. For last 2 days I paid the extra price(this time it was reasonable) for suit room and shifted there. The suit room was certainly very good with very nice view and it was worth the money. Everything in the room was of good quality including a bath tub. They don't provide much toiletries except basics like soap and shampoos. Parking is available with a price. I didn't tried it's pure vegan restaurant neither I went to it's 10th floor bar which has a very nice view. I can guess that because the view from 9th floor was excellent. The rooms has two kind of view, one city side and 2nd, harbour side. Corner rooms are good for city view and rest I found harbour view better, but it is completely my personal test.
Overall, I will certainly stay in this hotel if I will get the suit room in reasonable price. Will never stay in U room....

Kia Ora Singhsaheb, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your detailed review and are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the prime location of our hotel and found it to be neat and clean. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with the initial room assignment. It's regrettable that the U Room did not meet your expectations in terms of space and storage for your luggage. We understand the importance of a comfortable stay, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we worked to address the situation. We're glad to hear that you were eventually able to upgrade to a suite, and we're pleased that it exceeded your expectations with a nice view and high-quality amenities, including a bathtub. We strive to provide our guests with a variety of room options to suit their preferences, and we regret any confusion that may have occurred during your initial request for a larger room. Your feedback regarding the limited toiletries has been duly noted, and we will review our offerings to ensure a more comprehensive selection for our guests in the future. Additionally, we appreciate your mention of the parking availability and the different views from the rooms. Once again, we appreciate your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, ensuring a more seamless and enjoyable stay. Kevin Dias Hotel Manager

Arrived to be advised that hotel overbooked so we were given a tiny room, not a harbour view superior room. Finally upgraded to a suite that reeked of Febreze…
Buffet Breakfast for two @ $60.00 was the worst breakfast we had in NZ. “Hot” items had been sitting for a couple of hours and inedible!
