It's impossible to put into words how peaceful it is to sleep on a farm in the middle of nowhere. No streetlights shining in the windows, no traffic noises, only the sounds of sheep bleating in the morning. Plus you can see how a New Zealand farm operates and you can get to know some locals. Judi, Ross, and their son are so kind and welcoming and we had a wonderful time talking with them over tea and asking them questions about the kiwi life. They provided us with a delicious and healthy breakfast and recommended a walk around the property, which we thoroughly enjoyed. For an additional fee, you can actually go work on the farm with the family. The room has a private deck where it is nice to relax with a bottle of wine and unbelievable views as far as the eye can see. I had one of the most peaceful and restful sleeps of my life at Southern Venues and I hope to return one day for a longer visit!

We have spent Christmas evening at the Farm. We were very delighted by the warm welcome we received from Judi and Ross. The room is very nice and tidy. The tranquility of the surroundings and hills of North Southland are just marvelous to calm down and relax.

Impeccably clean. Very well decorated, newly renovated...just perfect. The hosts Ross and Judi were super nice. Breakfast was ready for us in the morning and even though we could not sit down and enjoy, Ross gave us a bag with fruits and yoghurts for the road. Talk about hospitality... I would go back in a heartbeat! Highly recommend!

We were returning from Te Anau and a day on the Doubtful Sound and decided to try a Farmstay rather than fight the crowds in Queenstown-- what a great decision!! Judi and Ross were generous, gracious hosts. We were 2 couples traveling together and happily surprised by the spacious "guest wing" of this newly built home. We were welcomed into the family living room where we enjoyed visiting with Judi next to the wood burning stove, looking out over their 2,500 acre high country farm. Our Farm Tour with Ross the next day, after a delicious breakfast, took us to the top of the hills with truly amazing vistas. We loved our stay, learned about life from third generation South Island Farmers, and would return in a heartbeat. Don't miss this 5 star experience!

When we booked for 30 Dec 2014 - 1 Jan 2015, we can't image how good this farmstay. * Amazing view, even from window/door you can see how clear the sky, how green the grass & how cute the sheep with mountain as background. Typical view you can see in NZ. * Clean & spacious rooms. Accommodation consists of 2 bedrooms. Master bedroom with living room. Modern & big bathroom with heater, towel warmer and feminine touch.. beautiful roses in small vase and perfume diffuser. TV, electric blanket, heater are available in those 2 bedrooms. * Comfortable bed and sofa. * Hi-speed free wifi. * Very friendly & generous host. Mrs. Judi & Mr. Ross are very kind people. We talked a lot when we had breakfast together with them. They love traveling also. They care about the comfort of our stay. They asked if we had something to do in New Year eve or not. Mrs. Judi allowed us to use their dry machine & their kitchen. We felt like at home and stay with our own family. We're so thankful to their kindness. * Lovely farmstay, furnished with antique (the age of wood door is 100 years old, amazing!) and modern things. * The location is around 1 hour drive to Queenstown (pay attention to speed limit). But it's not a big deal, as long as the journey to Queenstown have scenic view of Lake Wakatipu. If you drive from Te Anau, as we did, you must be careful to turn right to McMillan Road to farmstay. As there's no specific lane, so you should stop in the left roadside and wait until no more cars passing by to turn right. Overall, our stay in this farmstay is unforgettable. Someday, we hope we can visit NZ again and stay at this farmstay longer to meet Mrs. Judi, Mr. Ross and Tess-their dog, do farming and climbing the hill around farmstay :D

The rooms were very lovely and so pristine. Judy and Ross were so accommodating. I loved the bathroom. The morning hike on the farm was just what The doctor ordered. The wine selection was very nice along with the tasty cheese and freshly made pesto. We had a lovely fresh fruit, muesli and toast for breakfast. Judy was such a help with giving us recommendations for the rest of our journey.

We absolutely loved our farm stay at Judy and Ross's B&B. It was a truly magical place with views that we could not have imagined. With extremely comfortable beds and clean cozy rooms to relax in Judy and Ross really made us feel at home. They both were gracious hosts who treated us like special guests. After we had two quiet days of unwinding we asked Ross to tell us a bit about his farm and we were treated with a whole day farm adventure. He let us help him heard sheep and taught us how to command the dogs! We had an absolute blast and can not wait until out travels lead us back to their place.
