The Wimbledon Tavern offers great country hospitality. The owners and locals are friendly and helpful , the menu is great value and there are plenty of old photos explaining the background of the area. There's a nice area you can sit outside and enjoy the summer warmth. Pop inside!!

If exploring the backroads of the Wairarapa and you come across this small tavern don't just drive by - it is well worth dropping in to see the interior of the old building and its memorabolia. Stop to slow down and enjoy the hospitality and good straightforward food for a relaxing break (and be reminded how great New Zealand still is outside the pace and glitz of the major centres).

We stayed 2 nights with our 2 wee dogs in the 2 roomed cabin behind the pub. Accommodation small basic but comfortable, satisfied our needs.A covered veranda was a perfect addition. Proprietor and locals we met very friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Utilised the bar both days and had a lovely bar meal of mixed seafood both days which was delicious. Ideal base for exploring the area.
