Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend based at Dolserau Hall, in spite of the somewhat less than summery weather. We were well looked after by the staff and the food was both plentiful and beautifully prepared.

Our room was large, comfortable and quiet, and we slept perfectly throughout our stay.

The only minor criticism is that, probably due to the time of year and the prevailing weather, we were initially sharing our room with a number of spiders, who we promptly evicted! Perhaps the vacuum hose could have been directed upwards into the corners when the room was cleaned.

Just back from a wonderful walking break at this HF hotel.
Rooms clean and comfy, food very good, young staff who served us a meal times were so pleasant and accommodating, management staff helpful and ready to please.
Also the guides for this week were friendly and knowledgeable, great quiz on Thursday by Rowena and Adrian .
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday

We had a walking holiday with HF - very enjoyable. The hotel was in a lovely setting with a peaceful walled garden and good grounds with hill and mountain views all round. Service was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very ample and breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious.

Don't go to this Hotel. Having used HF Holidays for various holidays at home we were used to a high level of service and good value for money. The facilities at this hotel were dated but adequate. Some of the staff were trying there best but one particular female member of staff was rude, arrogant and on several occasions was seen to bully guests and other staff members. She appeared to be drunk or suffering from a hangover most of the time and obviously intimidated the unfortunately foreign lady who was doing her best to manage the place. On checkout they were even trying to con people by adding drinks to their bar bills -
disgraceful. Never again HF. If you don't sort this place out you will lose a lot of goodwill and money.

We were booked on a self guided holiday. Having navigated through some narrow lanes we arrived in this lovely peaceful location. Glorious views, pretty gardens . Our room overlooked the garden, very large with ensure shower and separate bath. Covid restrictions in place but we'll managed. A tasting menu on the first night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Every day you choose menu for next day, choice of starters, mains and desserts. Also choose items for packed lunches.

Stayed here with my wife as part of a walking holiday package with HF Holidays.

Staff were amazing and helpful. Food could be better, however, we have to factor in the current situation with COVID19 etc.

Location is superb and we had a lovely superior room.

Overall, cannot fault anything.

This was a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Staff ( Gareth and Irina) were very helpful and made us feel most welcome. The food was plentiful and very enjoyable. We stayed in the Annex as we had a dog with us, room was spacious and met all our requirements. We were doing self guided walks, but lots of helpful information available for us to use. A great weekend, we would go back.

Excellent base for walking in the area. One of the best HF houses I have stayed at and I have stayed in 13. Well managed with friendly helpful staff and useful walking info in Discovery Point.

Brilliant Easter weekend spend at the hotel. All the staff were great, the food was really good, good packed lunch. The guide Catherine was really helpful and the walks were great as well. They even managed to have three days of sunshine!!

I have read the previous 2 reviews and I do wonder if they stayed at the same hotel as myself.
The hotel is set in the most beautiful surroundings, however the hotel is managed in a very regimented way.
The food is not good value for money. The vegetables are undercooked and very small portions.
I had fish that was tastless and the vegetarian choice was very lacking.
The wine is reasonably priced but the list is not the most extensive so choice can be limited.
I did try to converse with my fellow guests, but this was actively discouraged by the owner when we were ushered out of the dining room at 9.30 following dinner.
It is incredibly difficult to obtain a drink from the bar after 10.30 at night and Tim actually said most of his best guests were in bed by then.
I find it amazing that breakfast is not served until a later time as this would improve the relaxing time that this establishment is meant to encourage.

There is some rather nice toiletries in the bathroom. I do not know about an iron, but there is a drying room, and the staff are very helpful, so I am sure they will try to help with this.
