About

#5 of 6 B&Bs / Inns in Lauder
Lauderburn House was built in the mid 1920’s as a doctor’s house and infirmary. Over the years until the early 1960’s various doctors and their families have lived at the house. The house was later transformed into a Bed & Breakfast for guests, this was when it got its name Lauderburn House (Lauder after the town and Burn meaning small stream). It is however more commonly referred to by the locals as ‘The Doctor’s House’. The house is set on six acres in the town of Lauder. It is the closest accommodation to the spectacular Poolburn Gorge viaducts and tunnels. The two guest rooms are the Karearea and the Kahu rooms. We also have a small cottage that is able to be booked with the use of our beautiful outdoor bathroom with hot shower and composting toilet. Come and check out our animals. Our horses - Kosta, Sophia, Ollie and Knight, Alpacas - Charlie, Pixie, Caramel, Picnic and Chokito, Kune Kune Pigs - Tahi and Rua, Chickens - Caitlin, Cornflake and Coal and our Welsh Harlequin ducks.

Our host Gillian was amazing, so nice and welcoming. We opted for the cottage which was lovely and cozy, and the outside bath was just what we needed after the rail trail. The showers where perfect, also outside looking at the sky. The main house was beautiful and Gillian made us feel at home instantly. We got to feed the llamas!
