We stayed here three times while bikepacking in the Tasman region. Couldn't be improved, from the quiet, rural yet handy location, Timo's helpful hospitality, extremely well-appointed comfortable lodgings, beautiful outlook, and delicious breakfasts. Highly recommended.
What a great place to stay. Rustic and spacious with great facilities. Country setting but close to town. Suited our group well, and rooms were set up to suit our mixture of couples and singles. Ideal for exploring the Tasman area. Having our groceries delivered prior to our arrival was great as we only had to top up with a few items for our 4 night stay. Hosts friendly, welcoming and helpful but not intrusive.
Our room was the Cottage, separate from the main lodge. The big plus was the fact that this is part of a working farm / orchard. The hosts and their 3 young kids are all very friendly, but also give you loads of privacy. This was roomy and super comfortable. The bed and ensuite were great. There's a little fully-equipped kitchen in the living area. This came with fresh eggs, milk and pear-juice from the farm. They also let us pick fresh pears from the orchard and passionfruit from the vines just outside the door. We were allowed to wander round the farm, meet the animals and look at the great views over the valley. The bedroom area is divided from the living area with some very cool big sliding solid wooden doors, looks like they are upcycled from somewhere on the farm. The big triple glass doors open out to overlook the native-bushy gully, with fruit trees and natives mixed in all round. There's a sheep paddock right next door, woke up to sheep grazing near our bathroom window. We had a very lovely and relaxing stay, we were allowed to checkout late as well which was very handy for our plans. We are definitely coming back here, it makes all the motels and hotels I've stayed at in the past seem cold and clinical. Thanks so much Timo!…
We stayed in the Shearers Cottage for five nights in early January. We used the cottage as a base for day trips cycling the Great Taste Trail (highly recommend) and walking the Abel Tasman. The cottage is fully self contained, quiet and very relaxing. We enjoyed the ability to wonder through the orchard, loved eating the eggs produced by the orchard's chickens and interacting with a variety of animals as they went about their day. The cottage itself was well appointed, spacious and private. Based just out of Hope, The Pear Orchard is a great place to get away from the larger city and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature. Timo was a great host, organising all our excursions and giving great advice about things to see and do. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for relaxed, comfortable and scenic accommodation.…
