Detailed Reviews
We stayed June 2021, and the experience was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, kudos to Yani. The room was neat, clean, well appointed for what we wanted. Awesome bed, super king! Heat pump provided a comfortable environment. Shower is brilliant with lots of pressure which I loved. The view is nothing special as you look out over a car park and commercial buildings, but you do get to see the foothills. Car parking available which is handy. Kitchenette was adequate for general use, no actual cooking appliances. Easy walking distance to shopping including Richmond Mall. Not too noisy apart from Friday night hoons! All in all highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 15, upstairs, looking over carpark. Ok views of the hills in the background.

Excellent location for everything Richmond. Right in the heart of the shopping area with plenty of restaurants (mostly Thai, funnily enough). Rooms are large and comfortable. Service is great, just nothing to say that isn't positive really. Parking can be a small hassle, as the long-term park area is used by local businesses, but if you're flexible and use the nearby 2 hour park as an interim solution, it all works fine.

Stayed two nights in Unit 19. Excellent checking with Kim. Got upgraded to one of the refurbished rooms upstairs. Once you get past the public carpark and the rundown atmosphere into the refurbished room you see the place has real potential.
It’s clean, it’s spacious, the wifi is great but things like one wine glass, no plates, a coat rack instead of a cupboard let it down. A shelf above the kitchen for storage, coat hooks and towel rails in the bathroom and a cover for the fan are in themselves small things, but are annoying when they’re not there.
Likewise a picture or photo or two would just soften the room - certainly nothing a trip to K Mart or The Warehouse wouldn’t solve. It’d also be good for the room to be refreshed and the rubbish removed; and some extra tea and coffee would’ve been great.
It’s all detail rather than substance - but it could make all the difference. Close your eyes to the rather rundown and unloved feel of the exterior of the building and courtyard - if you can get past these negatives your’re in for a great surprise.

We finished off our 2 weeks in NZ with a 4 night stay at the QS Studios. The location in the middle of Queen St was perfect for us, and surrounded by shops with everything you need and many restaurants - the Thai one on site was excellent.
The couple managing QS Suites are delightful and nothing was too much trouble. I congratulate them on their dedication. The studios are super clean and well appointed. The beds gave us the best sleep each night and a great hot shower with good pressure. The daily servicing of the studios was exceptional. There is a washing machine and dryer on site and parking was easy. All in all a GREAT STAY!

I would have been lost without the Managers of this establishment. Had lost my phone on an earlier transit flight location. It's a long story but they helped me over and beyond. Didn't realise how important my phone was, until then, and Queen Street Studios were so supportive and fixed my problem. Lovely rooms, they have everything you need and are spotlessly clean.

We spent the weekend in Nelson, and got to stay at the Queen Street Studios. It was a hidden gem at the heart of Richmond. The rooms were spacious, newly refurbished, immaculate and so comfortable.
It was a haven to return too after a busy day!
The hosts were so friendly and so helpful.

This motor inn is undergoing a massive renovation and whilst I was warned on the phone about it, I was not expecting the extent of the work! I have to be honest and say I nearly walked away.....
But gosh I am so glad I didn't. The renovations are turning the bedrooms into everything you would want - big comfy bed, hot powerful shower, quiet night's sleep. And as for the hosting by Annette and her husband - well they are wonderful. Going out of their way to treat me so personally and ensure I was super comfortable. The location of this motor inn is also spot on - right in the heart of Richmond so I didn't need a car. Was easy for me to walk to work, take a walk up in the hills in the evening and get my groceries and takeaway. I'm back up there twice in May for business again and know I will be looked after again.

Work is planned for the outside of the building and further work planned for the motel . I wish the owners all the best and I know I will be back !!
