We stopped overnight here after a trip out to Cape Reinga. I was expecting a sleepy small village, so was surprised at how many properties and boats there were. The motel was an older style but spotless and in particular shiny stainless steel in sink and shower base. Friendly welcome and great advice for dinner. We enjoyed an authentic Indian curry and quiet comfortable night. Outstanding view!

Clean, tidy and practical the accomodation is perfectly placed to break your trip to the top or as a base to explore the beautiful beaches and giant sand dunes. The room with TV, fridge and microwave was great. The property perched above the wharf has a swimming pool and a large open grassed area that catch’s the sun. If you are staying, across the road you will find the 4 Square and the Pukenui Paradise bar and restaurant.

This is one of the few motels at the north end of the north island. It is an older motel and probably not refurbished since built. That said it is very comfortable and spacious for what is costs. I am also impressed on how clean the rooms are kept. There is also a pool and laundry, a lousy take away fish chip and pizza is across the street next to a 4 square. I would stay here again.

I stopped in the Pukenui Lodge Motel on the way back from Cape Reinga to Roturua. The room was large and clean, the internet was smoking fast and the bed mattress nice and firm. The staff of the hotel was friendly and helpful. This is a pretty basic hotel but worked great for me. It is located near a commercial pier and across the street from a restaurant, cafe and liquor store. Great stop for me and if I am in the area again, would definitely stay there again,

Stayed overnight on my way up to see the Cape. Fabulous place, room was spotless and so comfortable. It was outstanding. The view of the water and harbour from the grounds was just beautiful. Pool looked so inviting and tons of space to dine al fresco on the lawn or the tables. Great restaurant and bar and four square across the road. Perfect.

An older style motel but exceptionally clean, freshly renovated. Host gave us the rundown of all food options before walking us to our room. A generous check-in time of 130pm. No real negatives other than the shower which had no pressure at all and the 1970s decor. Definitely would stay again.

Perfectly prepared, spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation in a standard motel setting with a pool, close to a small shopping centre and restaurant (possibly the last en route to Cape Reinga). Wonderful bay views from a viewpoint on the motel’s lawn.

We stayed here for two nights over Xmas( even watched the local Santa parade on Xmas eve evening). The location was fabulous on the edge of the Houhora Harbour and adjacent to the wharf. Situated on the main highway across from the very good cafe, supermarket and liquor store in the Pukenui township everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Our spacious one bedroom unit was spotlessly clean and comfortable as well as private and quiet.
we would have no hesitation in staying here again or recommending it to others.

This 1950's motel is set in beautifully manicured grounds on the edge of the Houhora Harbour with magnificent views. It is very tranquil and has a great pool. We had a one bedroom unit, which although old, was spacious, well equipped with a full kitchen had very comfortable beds. the whole place has a nice feel to it. It was very clean and had good towels. We enjoyed our stay there so much we intend to return on another occasion and spend more than one night. Thank you.

I really liked it here, we stayed for two nights and were totally comfortable and it had everything we needed.

The property was well kept with the owner out the whole time doing yard work and cleaning the pool. Facilities are good with a large freezer you can use for ice / fish bait. There is a coin operated laundry and outdoor BBQ and seating looking over the harbour.

Units are clean and tidy with everything you need, nothing flash but comfortable. There is a decent shop across the road for all your food needs along with a restaurant / bar with decent meals.

I would recommend this place and look forward to visiting again
