This was our first time staying on a private game reserve so we didn’t know what to expect. The lodge itself was homey and tastefully decorated. Our room was very spacious and had a rustic feel to it. The bed was comfortable and there was a mosquito net around it that was set up during the turndown service each night. The folks that run and work at the lodge seem like a big family. It is a very well run lodge and we really enjoyed our time there! A special shout out to the ladies that prepare the delicious food and in particular Doris who would lead in singing happy birthday or other songs in celebration of special days of their guests.
The game drives were fantastic- we saw everything we wanted to see including a gorgeous male lion and the often elusive leopard! The game drive vehicles were clean and in good repair- our driver and spotter were very knowledgeable and found us everything we wanted to see. I hope to get back here one day.

Accommodations were clean and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned every morning and had turn down service in the evening, leaving a chocolate on each pillow! Los of lounges and seating around the resort. The pool looked inviting for a swim. The spa was fantastic, offering massages and facials. The food served was all homemade and delicious. Early morning before our game drive there was tea/coffee and biscuits available. Breakfast was buffet with lots of options. You could have freshly cooked omelettes or any type of egg. Breads, pastries, cereals, yogurt, fruit, nuts, bacon, beans, sausages. Lunch was a choice from a menu with different options. Afternoon tea with a tasty cake was served before our evening safari Dinner was also from a menu. Each night the staff beautiful decorated your table. The game drives were spectacular! Marvel (driver/guide)and Heinel (tracker) made our 7 drives very memorable! Outdoing what we saw from one drive to the next. We would stop for a breakfast and evening break. Heinel would put a table cloth down at the front of the truck and beautiful decorate, provide tea/ coffee and muffins or a soda/beer/juice)water with snacks. Overall an incredible experience! Thank you Shiduli team for making our vacation so memorable

From the well-curated interior decor of the main lodge to the thoughtful, artistic touches in every room, to the wonderful Safari experience , to the delicious dining offerings, Shinduli fulfilled my (exceedingly high) expectations for what a proper 5-star Safari experience should be. Our guide, Doane, and our tracker, Michael, were brilliantly well-informed, and were able to not only describe the fascinating nuances of each species' behavior, but were able to "connect the dots" to give a sense of the vast symbiotic web of life that has evolved over eons. Doan shared our enthusiasm, and while we did not see the lions, we were able to stroll up to the resident cheetahs close, enough to feel truly connected.Back at the lodge, the Boma dinner was convivial and delicious, and it appeared that everyone at Shinduli was truly enjoying their time there. I know we were! Highest recommendation.

Due to the floods in Kruger we could not travel to our normal Game lodge and so booked into Shiduli lodge which is in the Karongwe Game reserve. Please note that the cost of both lodges is almost identical

We were booked into a, "Luxury Suite", which turned out to be a somewhat small room with ensuite bathroom in a block of 4 other identical rooms. Whilst very nicely decorated, they certainly do not qualify to be called a Suite. All 5 rooms in the block looked over a scrub like garden and had minute terraces which also served as the footpath, meaning that other residents were walking within 2metres of the bedroom.

Their was no comparison with our normal Game lodge where the basic rooms are detached, large Rondavels, each with its own private terrace, overlooking a watering hole.
The food was, in general, overcooked and unappetising with, on some occasions, insufficient to go round. Breakfast in particular suffered. once the pancakes had gone, that was it! The same with some of the main courses.

What was really cheap was that, if you ordered water at mealtime, you were charged for it and when my wife did not want any lunch because of the poor quality, they charged her for a fruit juice.

Do not believe the picture of the swimming pool, it bears little resemblance to the actual one which is in great need of refurbishment. When we arrived, it was so cloudy that I actually thought it was a fish pond.

Whilst the staff were very friendly, they did not appear to be very motivated. The employee who appeared to be in day to day charge was trying to do three jobs at once and didnt respond to any of my queries during my stay It proved impossible to find someone who had the authority to change anything until a Senior manager from the group visited on our final day. I discussed all my grievances with him but of course, by then it fell on deaf ears.

The company has 3 lodges within the park and I suspect that Shiduli is the runt of the litter. By the time we left we were the only residents in the 15 rooms which says something about its reputation as most other game lodges were filled to capacity as several within the Kruger itself had been closed because of the floods and the Cyclone.

I have deliberately not commented on the Game drives as, due to the recent rains, some areas were impassable. Save to say that once we had finally spotted the "Big 5", our ranger said that we could now relax. After that we hardly saw a thing and his enthusiasm noticeably waned.

People wonder why we always go to the same game lodge and that we should try something different. Well, we did and found it sadly lacking in almost all respects.

We spent Christmas here with our family. Our game drive Gilbert and Tracker Johnson were the highlight of the trip. They were patient, kind and tried very hard to find anything we wanted to see. What a privilege to ride with them and get to know them a bit. The staff here worked hard every day to keep thing clean and meals prepared at different location everyday. It felt very special, like a family.

Arriving at Shiduli we were welcomed by the staff with a drink and a smile. We were at a loss for words when we entered our room. Stunning, absolutely stunning. Gorgeous bedding, outstanding bathroom (double sinks & very large walk-in shower) inviting porch to relax and watch the animals walk by.
Next we found formally set tables for lunch in the garden. Actually all meals were served outside to our surprise.
Yes, we were there for the safari experience and that was fantastic in every way, but the lodge itself was beyond expectations. And I can’t say enough about the staff and game drive guides. Always smiling, wanting to help. Our guides, Simon and Gabriel were so knowledgeable about the animals and every part of the game preserve.
Thank you Shiduli Lodge. This experience went way beyond anything we expected.

Overall we loved our stay especially the actual safaris with Gilbert and Johnson who were absolutely fantastic. Kind, cheerful and knowledgable.

The accommodation was a little disappointing. We were a large family group of 9 and for some reason one of our party was housed quite a way from everyone else. Given that we booked a year prior, this was disappointing. The rooms themselves were pretty basic and very dark and dingy but we didn’t spend a lot of time in them so wasn’t a big issue. Rooms were clean.

Wifi was poor. Constantly knocking you out and having to join again but we managed.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Pool was cold.

A shuttle bus into Hoedspruit the local town during the day would be a good addition- not a lot to do during the day and can’t go anywhere. We were told that a shuttle to and from Hoedspruit would be £90!

Even the shop on site was closed the whole time we were there so couldn’t even buy a postcard!

Don’t have anything to compare it to as first time on safari but overall a great stay, just a little disappointed with the accommodation.

We just spent six days at Shiduli Private Game Lodge and it was one of the best, if not the best trips we ever took! The people, the game drives, the food, the service were all top notch! We stayed in the honeymoon suite and I highly recommend staying here. The housekeepers were amazing and cleaned the room twice a day. We had our own plunge pool and big private deck which we sat out everyday looking at animals in our backyard. Security was prompt and always around, they even walked us to and from our room when it was dark outside as the room was the furthest away from the lodge. Our every aame drive trying to find us some great views of the wildlife. In the morning they stopped for coffee and tea and muffins and the evening game drive they would pack you a cold beverage and some snacks. They were knowledgeable and respectful of the animals and birds and fauna. We highly recommend you going to Shiduli you will never be disappoined.

Shiduli Private Game Lodge is magical! Tess, Andrew, Moven, Condre, Dennis, Pearl, Rachel, and ALL the staff were extremely attentive and professional. Everyone made a special effort to make us feel welcome and as if we were the only guests. The food was superb and the dining experience was always unique. The lodge itself is marvelous....clean, spacious, and a true game lodge experience. The game drives exceeded expectations. Moven and Condre are extremely knowledgeable and went out of their way to make our time truly exciting. Thank you everyone for a life-long memorable experience!

Amazing stay at Shiduli for our family of five. The food was the best and there was so much variety, we looked forward to dinner each night being at a different location within the lodge. The rooms are spacious and clean and the service was great. Nothing was too much trouble. The game drives were excellent, and our guides Germaine and tracker Patrick made the whole experience fun and educational, we learnt a lot during the drives (that you can lick elephant dung for one thing). Day spa is great too, can't recommend more highly our stay here, no complaints at all. Lots of relaxing break out areas for down time in between the game drives also.

We visited Shiduli as part of a small tour group (14 of us). Our tour company advised us about a daily rate on tips for driver and Tour Guide before we left (the Guide’s rate was double that of the driver - seemed unfair, but if that’s what they do......).We allocated this in our holiday spending budget and took SA Rands with us from the U.K. At the lodge our group divided into 2 groups of 7 to each Land Cruiser. We had a guide and a tracker to each vehicle at Shiduli. We gave each cash tips at the end of the final drive. We were there 3 days and went on 5 Game Drives. Their knowledge is extensive re animal identification and behaviour. Our guide asked if there was anything in particular we wanted to see (I asked about mongoose and a fellow guest asked about certain bird species) and he made sure we got to see them. Again we budgeted for tipping the Game Drive guides and took Rands with us. House staff we tipped individually.

Can overnight laundry be arranged and what is the cost?
Answer from Esther S
Marietta, Ohio7 contributions
You can get laundry done overnight. We actually gave them laundry in the morning, and had it back that afternoon. We got it back so fast because we didn't have them iron anything (otherwise we would have gotten it the next day). We had them do several t-shirts, three or four pairs of pants and a set of pajamas. It was a little less than $20 US. We hand washed our own underwear and socks and hung them on a line in our room.
