The dirtiness of the room was pretty under-whelming, there were dirty scissors on top of the shower area, a blanket just chucked in the wardrobe, dirty marks on the duvet, pillows were scattered around the room. I honestly thought our room hadn’t been cleaned when we checked in, the bed looked like it hadn’t been made properly. There was a grotty old soap on the shower drain hole. There was butter on a plate in the microwave wrapped with tinfoil. The blinds didn’t work properly and the window handle was broken so couldn’t shut it. Our front door wouldn’t lock properly and the receptionist looked at me like I was thick and said she would take a look, not sure if she did or not.

The apartment next to us were really noisey but the night manager dealt with that really quickly. Location is good and there is a car park available but extremely tight but suffice.

I probably wouldn’t return unless I had to.

Reasonably priced but a bit tatty and quite a bit of people and road noise, needs an upgrade, blinds broken and toilet a bit stained. Definately needs bringing up to what's wanted in today's market.

The sign out the front says luxury accommodation but this place is from the 90s in need of a refresh and update. The room was dark during the day and light at night (due to Venetian blinds which didn't block lights from neighboring buildings). The bathroom had cracked tiles and parts of the wall coming off and there was no way to shower without water going everywhere. It has an amazing location but it's certainly not luxury.

We have stayed at this accommodation several time before. They have always provided us a car park that suited out needs. The location is very central and it is really great to have a good sized bathroom and laundry facilities. Unfortunately, for this trip we were plagued with several incidents. At check in, it didn’t start well when the young man failed to give us our key card without asking. I then requested for a second one as there were 3 of us doing different activities. Though pleasant, he told us there wasn’t probably one available, but when he looked there was. On asking for password for WiFi, we were informed that the wifi did not reach us, but there is a hotspot at the reception area. On Expédia it advertises free WiFi .. so this was disappointing as these days this is unusual. I did try to use the hotspot one morning, but this did not work - double disappointment. We found we were one towel short, and also there were missing cutlery, so had to go back to ask for. I also found out we didn’t get milk on checkin, so I asked for it next morning. However, the milk was off and was lumpy. We were about to use the placemats for dinner, but a couple of them had some lumpy food on it .. a bit off putting... Kitchen was very small with limited bench space and the fridge was very small, but we squeezed most things in. Though it wasn’t totally unpleasant, it certainly put a few dampers on our weekend .. we definitely have had bettter stays here.

Room Stunk of musty water leaks. When I arrived home I opened my bag and everything inside stunk like the room. Disgusting. The shower rose was faulty. I asked for the internet password and was advised to go down town to a hotspot - although it was advertised as having free WiFi.
Under no circumstance would I ever set foot back in that dirty place.
Thanks

We have visited this resort several times and have been very happy. Had not been in awhile so decided to stop over on a business trip on my way home. What a disappointment was room 305 which apparently is "privately owned". Private or not it should be up to the resorts standards. Reception was not too friendly and accommodating. Once I noticed one or two faults they just kept on popping up. Torn Duvet cover, toilet paper which the cat got hold of, loose tiles, missing grouting, broken heat rail, bedside lamp that buzzed so loud it was scary, wall switch completely loose, rusty old fan, broken and very old blinds - strings did not work, fridge in a bad state, kitchen cupboard broken and held together with tape, dirty marked walls, loose binding on chair and lastly a notice in lift, "if lift doors don't open, don't panic", ...ok enough said.

This Apartment block is so old and tired. There’s no air conditioning and no WIFI. We stayed in 2021 and had a terrible time. Car damaged in carpark and burnt myself on mid-connected washer. Offered discount to come back and gave them benefit of doubt but not again. Car damaged again!!!! Huge scratches from ladies in car next door carrying in makeup box - bed had grass in it and it’s just a tired, grumpy old place. Maybe once renovated it will be different.

Celebrate my birthday over the weekend. Love this place. Been here several times..since then. Never been disappointed...love the rooms and layout.. Ideal location. Lovely, spacious, large family rooms..it like being home away from home.. Love the close walk to beach, mountain and hot pools.

Walked in the room and couldn't believe how small it was for the $130/night we had paid. No drawers for clothes, we were tripping over our luggage so I moved several things around. The bench to cook on was tiny with a tv/dvd player hanging mid-air in the corner that I narrowly avoided hitting my head on. To cook had to move a huge kettle on to the floor to get some room. Toaster was also huge and very much out of proportion for the tiny area. This wouldn't work so reception brought up another. Turned out that powerpoints on benchtop wouldn't work. Used toaster on floor to cook our breakfast. I joked to my partner it was like camping and that I definately would not be doing our breakfast the next day.Windy night with banging noises as wooden blinds of room next door and above vacant rooms were left open. Spa bath - pulled plug out and water came up the drain all over the floor. Used our towels to mop this up so we were short the next morning. .... So much for a relaxing weekend away from Auckland ... I was sooooo glad to get back home.

A very disappointing stay. We stayed in a 2 brm apartment which did not see the sun all day. Fine if you have adequate heating - 1 small wall heater in lounge and a tiny blow heater in the master bedroom. No extra blankets, no electric blankets - nothing! Rang to try and get extra bedding at 7.50 pm no one on reception so I slept with sox, merino cardigan and dressing gown on. Definitely not a place to stay in winter! Have emailed Calais to discuss and 5 days later still no response. Four and a half start rating - we don't think so.

Response from Ashleigh H, Manager at Calais Mount Resort
Responded 28 Feb 2012
Thanks for the feedback. Reception is open until 8pm so the receptionist would of been attending to another guest at the time you tried to ring down. Extra blankets are available. We are looking into getting heat pumps installed in our larger apartments.
