The only good thing was the location. As a family we have stayed in this complex many times, but this time around we were highly disappointed. The carpet looked like it hadnt even been vacuumed before we came in, & also had a big stain on it. The pull up blind in one of the rooms was broken. A set of drawers looked new - but then it was more like decoration because the runners werent even attached! The stitching of one of the lounge chairs has come totally undone. The instructions on “how to operate the lift using the keypad” should be on the wall above the keypad, so people can read the instructions whilst working the keypad! Whats the point of having the instructions up by the door, and info regarding the rubbish chute above the keypad 🙄 Get up with the times and make it a scanning lift, what alot of bloody mucky around just to use that thing. We went down to park our car when arriving and found our park was totally blocked off by scaffolding (quite a few were). We went back up to tell the receptionist and she sounded as though we were making it up. “No one else has been up and said anything. Its not that I dont believe you, I dont go down there”. I said do you want me to go take a photo? In the end we got given a residents park. They should be communicating with the builders & being told some are getting blocked off. Also one of the bolts was missing from the plastic wall on the balcony, so it could be pushed out a bit. The sofa bed was badly ripped inside. On arrival they tried to charge me for an extra person per night, but when I booked I paid for 5 people. Lucky I had my paper, she said she would have to talk to her manager about it. So definitely had to be on the ball. The 5th person wasnt even 2yrs! So to be charged would have been ridiculous anyway. When I got home I noticed $20 had come out of my credit card, and I wasnt told what it was for. I emailed them asking, and was told it was “pre-authorisation to secure the room. And that it will release itself within a few days”. When I rang on Tues or Wed I was told it was to make sure the keys were returned. And finally - I found the manager rude. The info thing says quiet after 8pm. The first night we stayed there was music playing in the room next to us till about 10.30pm. I wouldn’t normally worry but we had a little one just under 2yrs old. So the following afternoon when it started up again I went to tell him about the noise, and if he could ask them to turn it down by 8 as he has written. He asked how I knew it was that room. I said cause seeing I couldnt hear it anywhere else I put my ear to the wall and heard the thumping. He made a smart ass comment so you’ll stand there with your ear to the wall all night? I said no I obviously done that to see where it was coming from. He said he would look into it, but he didnt, cause the same thing happened. I have been there a number of times, but its gone downhill for sure. Definately wont be going back there again, and dont recommend it…
We stayed in a Deluxe Studio with a view of the Mount. Perfect location to the main beach, Pilot Bay and right next to the Mount. Local restaurants close by or a short walk into town. Friendly reception staff. Clean unit with everything we required for a 1 night stay. Would definitely stay again.
Admittedly we booked last minute however wish we had read the reviews for Oceanside on TripAdvisor first. If Oceanside was the only accommodation with rooms available in Mt Maunganui, we would delay our trip. On arrival we were given a room that reeked of cooking oil and body odour. After opening all doors/windows and then blasting the A/C with no success in dispelling the rank smell, we asked to move rooms. We were advised that there were no rooms available to move to which we found interesting as we checked in at the exact check-in arrival time. I clarified with the Duty Manager whether this was correct that we were they last ones to arrive for that night and everyone else has checked in and she said yes. Turns out this wasn’t true and we were moved to another room a little while later. The rooms are comfortable and look clean to the eye however don’t expect to keep clean feet after showering and then walking around the room. The final straw for us was being woken up at 6-something AM on a Sunday by a party in the room next door and on the shared balcony of 20 youths. We called reception however realised they didn’t open until 7.30am, we got an answer phone. We then called the after hours number which re-directed to reception...again in unanswered. After trying for half an hour, noise control was called but they couldn’t do anything given it was ‘private address’ - they did advise the exact same thing happened last weekend. On check-out we voiced our disappointment Re the party with the Duty Manager and they didn’t bat an eyelid. Not even an apology - they didn’t seem to care. The man checking us out couldn’t even look us in the eye. With a hospitality background, I find this service pretty inexcusable and we won’t be back.…
I booked for my stay at the Oceanside Resort & Twin Towers - but they cancelled the booked without any reason. When I rang up to ask why, the man on the phone was incredibly rude, told me that he didn't have to give me any reason and then hung up on me. I can't believe they let anyone like this deal with their customers - as I have stayed here before and spent plenty of money at the resort. I will NEVER stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone else.
I love Oceanside Resort location, its a fantastic view of sea and Mount Maunganui, moreover this resort has a very well housekeeping service, staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable, Manager of this resort are very kind and honest. everyone's knows their duties and responsibilities. only one thing I faced in there was small parking but its fine, at least it was free service to all. I recommended to all when you visit Tauranga for any purposes like holidays, adventures, business trips............. to stay at this resort and enjoy their best service and make your holidays fantastic.
