The motel is a little island of calm in the midst of the dreadful industrial and commercial traffic of Tauranga/Mount. We had a studio for an overnight stay after an evening flight from Wellington before being collected by family the next day. It's very handy to the airport and the management had no problems with our late arrival. All amenities were a high standard except for the odd feature of no sink for washing up after our order-in meal. We had to use the hand-basin in the bathroom. The motel is right next to the Pacific Highway and the rail line with very noisy trucks and trains so we had to keep all the windows shut to keep the noise out and run the AC all night. We were unusual perhaps in arriving by cab and if you want to eat out or do something else in the Mount you would need a car.…
Warm welcome by the owners each time I have checked in here, was explained everything I needed to know, the rooms are comfy everything I need, the fans and heaters are there for use. Despite comments about trains and being on the main highway, the location is perfect Easily accessible to the CBD, Bayfair shopping a walking distance or the Mt the other direction. Thank you for your hospitality, keep up the good work, very appreciative of your service. Mahalo
We had a good stay at Gateway Motel. The hosts emailed us with useful details about how to get to their place and welcomed as at every step of the process. Good facilities. Nice room. Close to Bayfair for shopping.
Lent us camp chairs to take to the cricket, dried our washing for us while we were out, got us a discount at a local attraction etc. By and large we found people in New Zealand pretty friendly, but the folks at Gateway were way, way above and beyond. Room etc all fine but we will remember Gateway a long time for the kindness with which we were treated.
This is an awfully noisy Accommodation Unit. It is situated next to a main railway line with a motorway in between the railway and the property. We were awake half the night listening to trains (at 1.30am & 3.30am) and Traffic noise. There was a grumpy old man on reception. The rooms are getting a little bit tired and the bathrooms need a total makeover, not to mention the badly stained shower glass from body and soap scum. Better places around for the same amount. Disappointing.
