The Mission Belle is a family run motel in Mount Maunganui (Mauao). The Belle's hosts are Cathy and Ray who came over from England in 2008 and fell in love with the place as soon as they saw it. One of their favourite countries in the world is Spain and because it reminded them so much of the spanish buildings they were used on the coast it seemed to be the perfect scenario - a little piece of Spain in New Zealand - what more could they want??!! Unfortunately it wasn't available for them to own at that time but as soon as it came on the market, they snapped it up! They've been in the motel since December 2011 and have so far loved every minute of it. There is a sizable barbeque area and various seating areas dotted around the property, with or without shade and they have improved on the landscaping. The rooms were originally decorated with a "spanish' feel about them (hence the name) and now Cathy and Ray feel that updating the rooms is high on the agenda of plans that they have for the place. It is ideally located, close to all amenities that the Mount has to offer - fantastic cafes, amazing restaurants, and the beautiful stores that are all very appealing. With only a couple of minutes walk to the quiet Pilot Bay beach and a five minute walk to the main beach, there really is no need of a pool! Having said that, the Hot Pools are at the base of Mauao and are easily accessible with a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Belle. A beautiful walk around Mauao where you can take in some fantastic sights, or a more energetic or if preferred, a slow climb up to the summit will be an effort well rewarded with the magnificent views over the town and the sights of Tauranga.

The property is close to the main beach and also Pilot Bay beach. Its in the main shopping area so very handy and great for shopping and restaurants. The room we had was spotless and well laid out. The reception is remote. Email and text instructions. OK for us. Probably a bit “ clinical” with it’s white paint but goes with the overall theme. Happy to recommend. Thought the price was high but in keeping with other accommodation in the locality.

Stayed in a two bedroom family unit. Scrupulously clean and fabulous location one house away from restaurants etc. Unit slept 5 but only had two seater couch in kitchen. No cooking facilities. Could have spa bath. Good contactless checkin. Otherwise couldn't fault

We booked three rooms for 3 couples and we were not disappointed. We had two different room types and all rooms were clean, warm and very comfortable. Bedding and towels were new and of very good quality. We had everything we could possibly need. We asked for extra wine glasses so we could pre-dinner drinks in one room and they were delivered straight away with no fuss or bother. Whilst out and about during the day the rooms were serviced, again with no fuss or bother. Its great to find a motel that is clean, safe and not run down, and run so well with friendly welcoming staff. This motel is also in such a great spot - so close to the beach and the restaurants and bars.

While the room was adequate, it was small and pokey; clearly not as advertised on website. This and multiple interruptions from housekeeping at an unreasonable morning time, made for a disappointing experience for a couples weekend away

I’m so delighted with this wee gem of a motel. Perfectly located, with beaches, shops, food and drink etc very close by. Easy to get back to Tauranga for my meetings while getting all the benefits of being based at the Mount. Mauao is clearly visible from the property, which is utterly charming - cute, immaculate and comfortable. Check in was one of the best I have experienced in NZ. Friendly, efficient, and they even upgraded my room. Despite parking being immediately outside the rooms there was no noise to contend with. Facilities are good - nice hair and body products and a range of hot drinks - would have loved to have seen peppermint tea and plunger coffee but the General Cafe across the road took care of the coffee at least! Comfy bed, effective heating, decent shower, good wifi. This is a recommended stay fast far as I’m concerned - and I’ll be back again.

The location is great. Shops and restaurants are just around the corner. The Motel would be one of the cleanest places we have stayed. The bed was lovely and clean and very comfortable. Lovely friendly owners and staff. Will definitely be back when in Mt Manuganui next. Great 3 days.

We stayed here recently for two nights after reading recommendations. We were greeted and checked in by Emma who was lovely. Emma made the time to get to know us and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a harbour view suite on the first floor which was really nice. It was clean, decorated in the same Mediterranean decor as the rest of the motel and was modern. The suite was simple with everything you would need including a comfy bed which is what you need after a long day exploring - it was really home from home (they had really thought of everything!). The suite also had a great motol guide advising you of all the info you need about the motol, area, local places to eat/drink at and also had discounts you could use at places. The motel has BBQ areas, outdoor showers, wifi and parking for one car per suite. The location is awesome - a 2 min walk from the main town ship where you will find all the bars, restaurants (including a fabulous Italian right on the door step). Its also a short walk from everything else you would need to access including the beach, the hot pools, pilot bay and mount. We were allowed to leave our car at the motel before and after check out so that we could explore without having to find parking! The only thing we would say is that the windows are single paned and the suites facing the township had lollies arriving very early for deliveries and, bars are open very late so if you are light sleep er you may struggle. Would highly recommend this place - definitely one of the best places we've stayed in NZ so we'll be back next time we head to the mount!

Great location. Compact studio was just right. Small but had everything we needed and was comfortable. Friendly staff. Would definately use again. We were disappointed we couldn't stay longer as the place was nice and lots to do in the area. I have seen other comments on noise but didn't find this problematic. Would return.

The 2 of us stayed here in feb for 4 nights and I tell you what, it would probably give the Hilton a run for its money. We had room 4 that had a pretty grouse view of the mount, a comfy bed, nice big couch with a fold out bed (in case your in the bad books with the Mrs) and air con which saved us from ending up like a beef roast on them 30°+ days. Rooms had just been redecorated too, had a bit of a cheeky eye up and down the tile and paint work and someones done a nice job on it. Owners are real cool people and helpful too, didn’t mind me keeping my surfboard and wetsuit with me (Lots of places get all snobby and look down on you when you ask if you can keep them in the room) and even held onto the room key while I was down at the beach and handed it back to me the minute they saw me walking back in. Motel is located right at the end of the Main Street and is quick and easy to get to everything, sober walk to the pub: 1 minute, not quite as sober walk home: 2 minutes, Smell of coffee and bacon in the morning: heaven. Our room was a bit noisy on Saturday because the people over the road thought they’d try and take out the title of “noisiest buggers at the mount” for that night but thankfully they were playing a few decent tunes and I fall asleep the minute my head hits the pillow and so does the other half so it didn’t bother us in the slightest. The owners apologised for the noise when we checked out which was nice even though it wasn’t even their fault!. Overall it’s a 👍👍 from me.
