Let's start with the blatant lies in the description. The hotel is neither directly on the beach (17 km away) nor does it include a parking space (6 minutes walk to the public parking lot, which becomes very long in the rain with luggage and a small child).
Once you have finally reached the door (and found it - according to the annoyed neighbors, we weren't the only ones who failed at this), you have to open it with an app. You are only informed of this shortly before arrival. If you belong to the not quite extinct group of those who don't have a smartphone, the stay was booked by someone who isn't traveling with you, your cell phone is lost/forgotten/stolen/broken/without battery... tough luck.
Once you have overcome this hurdle, you are immediately faced with the next one: a typically Dutch, steep and narrow staircase - sometimes without a handrail. There is nothing else in the entrance area, except for a bicycle pump that stands in the way as a tripping hazard. We didn't expect a reception, breakfast room or anything similar in a "self-service hotel" anyway, but a square meter of space to briefly put down luggage would be nice. Once you've lugged all your suitcases and underage fellow travelers up the stairs and convinced the room door to open, you come across a room that at first glance appears to be nicely furnished, but then quickly reveals numerous defects. From potential death traps such as a socket with the plastic cover missing (did we already mention our toddler?), a bare wire on the balcony where a lamp is missing, a completely faded and almost unreadable escape route plan, missing fire extinguisher and escape stairs to smaller inconveniences such as an extremely leaky balcony door in the bathroom, which also has no curtain, blind or anything similar. However, we cannot recommend sticking a cloth in the door as a privacy screen, as it is difficult to close it again after opening. The faucet comes off the wall, the shower head comes off the hose, and the toilet paper holder is completely missing. The towels are frayed and full of holes, the bathroom door doesn't close well, the WiFi password is missing and the wardrobe mentioned in the description turns out to be a clothes rail with three coat hangers, one of which fell apart at the first touch. Even sitting comfortably together on the balcony turns out to be difficult, with only one armchair and a ventilation outlet that constantly blows steam onto the balcony. Not to mention the peeling paint, the tape residue and the like.

We really appreciated the prompt communication via WhatsApp and quick responses to our messages. However, there were several issues that impacted our stay. For the first few days, there was no fresh air, and the apartment was very humid. I specifically chose this place because it was advertised as having air conditioning, which we did not have initially. The third day it was provided though. A huge problem is that the windows cannot be opened. That definitely has to be mentioned in the description! Additionally, there were several other discrepancies between the description and what was provided. There was no TV, iPad, Netflix, no little fridge or dining area, all of which were mentioned in the listing. I recommend updating the description to avoid misleading future guests and causing dissatisfaction. Moreover, the coffee supply was not replenished as promised. Another suggestion is to secure the bed toppers as they constantly moved around, which was uncomfortable.

One year later, same hotel and probably the same room as the reviewer before us, so I can join the text and photos 1 to 1! Instead of two nights we searched the distance after only one night and left the paid room.

Een boutique hotel?? De vloer kleefde van de voordeur tot en met de douche en het toilet. In de ruiten aan de straatkant zaten diverse barsten, soms afgeplakt met tape. Een aantal lamellen van de luxaflex in de douchehoek was kapot. En het gebouw is supergehorig. De bovenburen deden echt zachtjes, maar het klonk alsof er olifanten boven ons liepn. Al met al een dure overnachting, maar geen kwaliteit voor de betaalde prijs. Mr Lewis ziet ons niet meer terug. En dat is jammer, want we willen graag zo af en toe in de buurt overnachten.

Slechte ontvangst moest inloggen met app en dit was de sleutel, werkte niet. Hygiëne matig, volgende dag werden we uit kamer geklopt om 10u, niet door schoonmaak team maar iemand die geen Nederlands of Engels sprak dus wist niet wat we moesten doen

Het voelt meer aan als een AirBNB kamer, dan een luxe boutique hotel. Alle communicatie ging via de telefoon en daarom voelde het 'ontvangst' wat koel en niet zoals je in een hotel zou verwachten. De prijs van 140,- per kamer is echt veel te hoog. Kamer was verder wel schoon en mooi, met een goed bed en de locatie top.
