We really enjoyed our stay. We have stayed before but not for some time and the place has undergone a significant upgrade since. We thought the food was terrific and the service we received from everyone was top notch. Despite the masks, we recognised Anna, Elton, Paul B and Louisa, all of whom were welcoming, efficient and friendly. We will definitely return.

Dear Gallivant Team, many thanks for the lovely time I had in your hotel. Everyone went above and beyond to make this stay special and I would like to highlight following people: Naketa (very warm greeting and farewell), Paul (looks like he is always around with his helpful and friendly manners), Anna (made breakfast time especially joyful) and India is a super yoga instructor. The food was amazing! I'll be back...

We stayed at the Gallivant for 5 nights, from 25-30th August this year. It was our first time staying with you. We did thoroughly enjoy our time, but there are some drawbacks people should be aware of. First is the dogs. Other guests can bring their dogs, and if you’re not expecting this, it can be a bit much. They tend to smell up the one single walkway to the rooms, and we saw at least once a muddy dog had jumped on the upholstery, which we almost sat in. All good if you’re keen on dogs, though we weren’t. Also, the shower pelted one quite hard, and whilst high water pressure can be good, it was just too much and as a result the tub filled up to the shins each time and the water went everywhere in the bathroom. It then took ages to drain. It really tainted our view of the quality of the facilities, especially as we flagged the slow drain to staff and it was never rectified (perhaps this isn’t their fault and indeed it would require a proper plumber). No one ever checked if the problem was sorted out either. We were left feeling too awkward to ask again, so suffered for the rest of the trip. It wasn’t in fitting with the cost of the room, really, which was pretty pricey! Also, two waiting staff were excellent (Anna and Elton), but the summer hires were not very good or knowledgeable, so we’re a bit disappointing. Finally, I had a massage booked in and this was cancelled the day of. The staff didn’t even tell us, we found out via their booking app. We were in Rye and tried to call and confirm this with the hotel but it took over an hour to even get ahold of anyone to confirm this. Really unacceptable if you ask me. Anyway, overall, it was a good stay. We hope to come back but wouldn’t like to stay in that room again, due to the bathroom flooding issues. I wouldn’t rely on their so services. The Gallivant is a lovely place, certainly the best in the area by a long shot, but maybe doesn’t exactly live up to the hype.

We had the most wonderful stay! It was the perfect place and such a haven of tranquility. The food was insanely good, with the change of menu each day keeping it exciting and new for us. Every member of staff we encountered were so lovely, accommodating and obviously enjoyed working there. It was the best service we’ve ever had at a hotel and the most lovely say. Our dog Panda, who joined us also had the time of her life.

An absolute gem of a hotel. All the staff were welcoming and couldn't be more helpful but we really wanted to take Anton & Anna home with us, well....& Jamie the chef too. In fact why don't we just go and live at the Gallivant? Anyway, we will definitely be back for another visit soon!
