I have been going to sunseeker lodge for years and it is so beautiful! The owners have made such dramatic changes to the place and every time we go it’s even better than before. The view is incredible, it’s lovely and quiet and there is so much to do.

I booked my husband and son in here for one night last week and they really enjoyed their stay. Very clean and comfortable with a great value breakfast that set them up for their hiking. Very helpful friendly hosts . My Auckland city based son said he felt like he was in a different country, so peaceful and beautiful,

The Lodge is a wonderful location with incredible views to the bay. When we came in our 8 bed dorm we could not believe it that we have this wonderful view from our beds. We were alone in this room and had our own bathroom and toilet. When we came back from our short trip to the bay the owner invited us to a barbecue with very good food and fresh grilled fish and drinks. It was a wonderful evening. We finished our evening relaxing with a glass white wine in the spa (38 degrees). Everything was clean and the kitchen for the backpackers has all the things you need. Everybody was really friendly and we can recommend this hostel for every backpacker, not only because of the price. Here you can stay longer than one night because you can relax in the garden, reading a book or lying in the sun. The only negative thing was that we could hear our neighbours because they had a very loud and long discussion. Thanks for this wonderful time. Viki and Anne

Our trip was marred by poor hospitality, The male host was awkward, in your face and quite aggressive with his political views.
He made his own staff burst into tears over his opinions and would not relent for the entire time we were there. Our group had to console and somewhat protect his staff from him and any requests such as vouchers for the internet were met with a poor attitude.... his ill do it when I want attitude was not appreciated.
The female Host we found to be quite amicable and lovely to speak to, she was upbeat and cheerful and more than accommodating.
Facilities were very basic and the cleanliness of sheets etc were questioned , Overall the view made up for it. We would go back to Whangaroa , just not to this lodge. It was well over priced for such basic and bare minimum facilities.

We stayed 2 nights in a one bedroom apartment. Unit was clean. Kitchenette was adequate. There is small table and chairs just outside the door, which was a great place to enjoy the view with a beer or wine.
Short walk to the marina where you can get a drink or food.

We have just stayed at Sunseeker Lodge and had a lovely time, On arrival we were told we had been upgraded, as we had only booked for one night, and another couple wanted the room we had booked for four - not a problem.
We were upgraded from a one bedroom to a four bedroom and had lots of living space to move around in, including a lovely deck. The bedding was beautiful, top quality, and although eclectic - which was part of the atmosphere - the kitchen had more then plenty of equipment/cutlery/crockery to service the 11 people the apartment could cater for.

My boyfriend and I LOVED Whangaroa and staying at Sunseeker! The owners Karen and Owen are very accommodating and friendly :)
The lodge has many rooms and a couple apartments available with everything cleaned daily. They're always working around the clock to continue updating and renovating to continue making Sunseeker amazing!

Sunseeker lodge is a really beautiful lodge, there are a lot of spaces that you can use to bbq or just relax. The view on the nice little Harbour is amazing ! The lodge has everything you need to enjoy your stay : wifi, a Spa pool, laundry facilities, nice fishing spots nearby, great beaches at 10mn where you can snorkel or dive, kayaks, and if your are keen on beautiful views make the 25mn walk up to the rock and you will get amazing views of bay of islands.... A perfect location ! Also the owners have given us so many tips and helped us as much they could to make our stay perfect ! Actually it was perfect :-) I recomend this lodge, backpacker and camping to everyone !!

I stayed in a 8 bedroom dorm and all the three nights i was sleeping there alone.
When you enter the living room/kitchen, you feel like home cause the athomsphere is so familiar. Kitchen is a bit old, but that doesent matter, the view from the accomodation and the whirlpool are incredible nice.
The latest owner, lindsey is a very nice, funny and friendly person

stayed just one night thankfully. great location but very dirty accommodation. The place was unkept with floor sticky and bench tops not wiped down. When booking in i was told just leave key in the door as i don't want to be disturbed in the morning . would not recommend this place to anyone. such a shame as its in a great spot.
