We arrived in a hot sunny week. This property had been closed all week and had heated up to sauna level. The ancient cooling fan provided in the main bedroom was not up to the job and was very loud and inefficient. This led to poor sleep in unbearably hot bedrooms and an unusable sitting room. The owner needs to care more about the comfort of guests than charging an exorbitant rental for a 'luxury' property. Avoid this rental.

Thank you for your feedback, we have taken onboard your comments. We do try to ensure the Chalet is adequately ventilated with upstairs fans turned on and windows open. As this property caters as self-check with no staff onsite, it would not be advisable to open up downstairs unlocked/open for security. I also did my best to find a solution and the fan I purchased was recommended as adequate for the situation, note we are rural and did not have the conveniences of the big cities at our disposal. We do not advertise ourselves as a luxury chalet on Booking.com, if we do please bring this to my attention as I could not find anywhere this onsite? As you did stay for your full five day booking this does suggests our Chalets are up to standard. We have had a further groups of guests stay following you and none have had the issues you have mentioned in your comment. Kind Regards The Team at Coastal Chalet Suites Whangaroa

We stayed two nights in Suite C. While most other reviews are totally positive, there are a couple of things that we think need improving. The window blinds are damaged and tired and do not close properly. The walk-in shower is good, but it needs a rack inside the shower to hold the shampoo and soap, rather than needing to prop them on the end of the vanity unit. A washing machine would have been a real bonus, as we had been travelling for a while. Also, be warned, but the cattle on the neighbouring farm were very noisy and bellowed continuously. We suspect they were hungry, due to the drought and hot weather. This is not a complaint - just a comment and warning to those not used to being in the country. Having said all that, the location is very nice, the gardens well maintained, and the outdoor deck is a very pleasant to sit and relax with a glass of wine. There is a spa (which we did not use) and a BBQ, which we did. Having a full size fridge was much appreciated. The wifi worked fine.

We stayed in chalet C which had a view over farmland and the Whangaroa Harbour in the distance. The chalet was immaculate with everything you need for a very relaxing stay. Plenty of DVD's and CD's for your enjoyment, under cover deck with heaps of outdoor furniture. When having a spa you can enjoy the view with a glass of vino in hand. Bathroom luxuries are all supplied as is coffee tea etc. Very close to many beautiful Northland beaches. We even received a welcome gift. Overall a relaxing and very pleasant stay, we will be back.

Words don't describe the welcoming arrival to Coastal Cottages. Soft lighting, music, and a warm greeting. We've been overseas for 2 months, and this last stay is the highlight of our travels. We really did save the best for last. The location is excellent for tourist drives, visiitng the bays and beaches and seeing the Bay of Islands, although it's hard to leave the comfort provided here. Lots of outdoor spaces with view on 2 sides regardless of weather.

Where to start? Exhausted from our long drive, we stepped out of the car and saw, for ourselves, the Heavenly vista! We were clearly expected: As we walked through the door that had been left open, communicating our hosts' welcoming gesture, there was more ... tranquil mood music was playing, and candles had been lit; exquisite. Jeff and I arrived on Christmas Eve. We stayed for 5 days, and any less time would not have done justice to our absolute need to 'get away from it all'. We eloped and we actually relaxed - really relaxed! Our dear hosts, Beth and Jon (and Brucey-4-paws), were angel-like. They obviously sensed our arrival, but left us completely alone in peace. When, by chance, we collided, we found them to be such an adorable couple. Extremely down-to-earth and lovely company. We didn't meet them until Boxing Day, and both felt we had missed out by having not invited them to join us for our Christmas evening BBQ. I am quite the introvert, so such a remark does carry a degree of weight. Everything I had read in others' reviews was (and is) what you will come to realise when you experience it for yourself - and I urge you to do so. Please do take the time and effort to visit. You will not be disappointed, indeed it will surpass expectation. Again, I have travelled quite extensively, and am reasonably confident that I'm sufficiently qualified to comment :) DON'T DELAY - PUT IT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TODAY! Dearest Beth, Jon & Bruce: Thank you so very much! Our best wishes to you both. Kindest regards, Vicky and Jeff xxx NB. Highly recommend to stay in Russell over New Year's, too.
