Amazing location, with stunning over the water views. Motel units are spotless clean, and have everything you could want or need. We are a group of 15 people and what really is the most convenient amenity .... is the huge community kitchen and dinning/BBQ area....all under cover, with a 55" flat screen television on the wall. But the real "stars" of this establishment are the owners JUDY & CRAIG. These guys are unbelievable in their service to make all their guests so welcome and part of the family. They go way beyond any normal standards for 5 star service...... for instance...insisting on cooking a roast meal for us all........ doing all our laundry......attending to minor medical needs.....unbelievable !!!! We will be back .....

Thank you Steve for your wonderful review - it was our privilege to have the "Group of 15" stay with us - you ALL were so "easy-going" that nothing was too much to do for you ALL. We trust you ALL will have wonderful memories of Whangaroa and surrounding areas that we look forward to your return visit in the near future. Meanwhile stay safe and well. Cheers Judy & Craig

Stayed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and loved the location - very clean and well appointed room, very friendly and helpful hosts and a superb view. Had everything we needed - the road up is a wee bit steep but we walked up a few times and it wasn't an issue.

Stayed a couple of nights on a road trip around Northland. First impressions were excellent when we phoned in advance to make a booking and get some local information. Very efficient check in and Judy and Craig were friendly and generous hosts. They had a wealth of local knowledge and plenty of good stories to tell. The rooms all have different configurations to suit many needs and ours was spotless. The water pressure wasn't quite as strong as we're used to but that was really the only thing we would improve. We will definitely be back again for a longer stay and some fishing out of the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour.

Everything was terrific - room, location, view, hosts etc. Having a verandah to sit outside in the fresh air and watch the birds and dolphins was really nice. We were given helpful advice on local attractions and lastly I would love to return and stay longer to enjoy the peace and quiet.

My husband and I stayed as we had a fishing trip with friends. The room was spacious and had eveything we needed and cooking utensils. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbour. Thanks for a great stay Craig. This is the best place in Whangaroa!!

Truly outstanding motel with clean, well equipped rooms, recently refurbished. Stunning sea views, complete with setting sun, a very short walk through the garden to the marina, fishing club and Marlin restaurant. Hosts Craig and Jude were brilliant with information, advice, booking a wonderful harbour trip and providing books on local attractions and walks. The bananas from the garden were lovely, as was the smoked king fish and the best banana muffins ever. We would thoroughly recommend spending a few days, so comfortable and peaceful

This is the second year I have stayed at the Whangaroa Lodge Motel and just love it there. The views out across the harbour are superb and totally relaxing from the front verandah area of your room. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. But the best is the friendly atmosphere created by the outdoor common bbq and kitchen area which is stocked with everything you need for a group cook up. Not only that you have a fish cleaning area out back for easy fish prep. Whilst each motel unit has its own kitchen it is encouraged to join in the evening happy hour and be part of a group cookup. What a treat. One night we had the freshest fish n chips I have ever had and the next Egyptian Chicken, wow great fun. Craig and Judy are the best hosts who go out if their way to make sure you have a great time. Reminds me more of the friendliness you experience when we used to go camping and meet everyone at the camp kitchen area each night. I will be back from Australia next year hopefully as this is the best place to chill out, relax, walk, fish or enjoy happy hour with new found friends. Chapee…

Cannot speak highly enough of the serendipity of us finding this accomodation. Judy and Craig made us welcome from the moment we arrived. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail was just superb. Don't hesitate to come here and be spoiled rotten. Can't wait to return. This is an amazing corner of New Zealand with genuine hard working hosts who deserve to succeed. A very pleasant spot in any weather. Not to be missed.

My wife and I were on a fishing trip around the N.Z. Northland and stopped in for the night. From the moment we checked in Craig ensured we were happy with the room we were allocated, gave us a run down on the eateries in the near vicinity and tried in vain to secure us a Fishing Charter but unfortunately the wrong time of year with a few charter boats in for maintenance. The room had a large king bed which was super comfortable, and a very clean separate bathroom. Craig mentioned the Sports Fishing Club at the bottom of his driveway was a good way to enjoy ourselves on a Friday night which we did. Great deck to enjoy a few beers.... We should be returning later this year after a vacation in the Cook Islands and look forward to spending more time with Craig and Judy.

A very warm welcome from Judy when we arrived. She is such a lovely wee treasure. Both Judy and Craig are awesome people. The unit we stayed in was fantastic. Very clean and tidy and sleeping in nice, clean, white crisp sheets was wonderful at night. And the views from the balcony in each room was breathtaking. Gorgeous at night with the sun set. Craig and Judy welcomed us to join them and other guests for drinks around their outdoor area which is wonderfully set up to do your outdoor cooking (BBQ). They also joined us for dinner down at the fishing club which is at the bottom of their beautiful garden walk way. I so wish we could have spent our whole holiday there instead of moving to another area closer to home for the rest of our holiday. If you are ever wanting to see the far north of New Zealand, then I would definitely recommend a trip to Whangaroa Harbour and a stay with Craig and Judy. We will be back if we are up that way again. A+++++++…
