Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is truly an amazing place. The kind of place that is perfect for a couple, perfect for a few couples, perfect for a family, perfect for...well anyone really and that is part of the beauty of the place. The hosts were just great; helpful and knowledgeable and overall made the stay very comfortable. And generous enough to let us stay and share their sensational property on the coast! The accommodation is definitely 5 star-plus and the setting is a piece of paradise. The walks provided panoramic views in amongst some typical NZ farmland and native bush of which they have planted 40,000 trees and plants themselves! There were kayaks (and SUP's) to use and the view from the sea in the misty rain was spectacular. For chilling out there were plenty of places to kick back and just

Our family spent a Christmas here a few years ago. A home away from home no compromises only extras. Lovely location with water access. Great home with an American Hamptons feel by lack of a better description. Comfortable beds and a proper kitchen with a beautiful ocean view.

When our family arrived at this house, we cancelled all our plans to visit other towns and eat out. We just wanted to stay and enjoy this amazing house. Buy groceries in Whangarei and plan to eat in! The view is the kind you'd expect from a Ritz or Four Seasons except it's your own private paradise. I'd describe this as a luxury rental with on-site concierge service. The owners live on the property in a separate home, which is an added bonus because they're incredibly welcoming, kind and available to answer questions. If you need anything, they're a moment away but otherwise your stay is completely private. Everything described in the prior reviews is completely accurate except I'd add that a great selection of kayaks are available for your use: 2 ocean going and two

Once again, a fantastic holiday in this superb place! Location is unbelievable, beautiful architect designed house with everything you could possibly need. We can't wait to go back. You can be as relaxed or as energetic as you like with glorious walks, kayaks, surf skis. Wonderful hosts who generously donate the freshest eggs from the chooks! Too easy to feel right at home and never want to leave. Worth every penny. We love it!

A week at TFL with great friends to jointly celebrate our respective anniversaries was perfect. Having stocked up with supplies on day 1, the remaining days were spent with a balance of activities (golf, kayaking, walking,), relaxing (reading, sleeping in every day!) and exploring Northland. The guest house is complete in what it provides and it is all 5 star. In the words of General Macarthur..."we shall return!"

WoW!!! We were amazed by our stay (2011) at the Taiharuru Farms Lodge! First of all, the owners of this beautiful property, were the nicest and most gracious people ever. Secondly, the house was immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, and so comfortable. It was so easy and relaxing to just stay and explore the property, walk down to the beach, or just stare out at the night sky - where you felt you could just pluck stars from the heavens! If you stay here (which I wholeheartedly recommend), make a food shopping stop in Onerahi (~22 minutes from Taiharuru) at the New World Market, as the lodge in fairly isolated. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the lodge and will definitely make it one of our stops the next time we visiting beautiful New Zealand.

Bring food, drinks of choice and that's it. Our hosts Raewyn and Grant have built their own paradise in a perfect coastal location. The good thing is they now share it with discerning guests from all parts of the globe. While we live just north of this property, the rawness of the coastline continues to impress. The Guesthouse is fashioned on a NZ colonial/mission style of building but with all the mod cons. Folding kitchen windows which present a vista straight out of Home Beautiful memorize you until you are rudely reminded your partner and friends want breakfast. Ok how about fresh snapper fillets you caught the same day at the base of the property? Aside from that the "toy box" on the beach offers up kayaks which given the clarity of the waters allows you to see an

A beautiful, well decorated, private house in a stunning location with the most amazing views. My wife and I stayed there - the house was too big for us, but no matter, we enjoyed the beautiful master bedroom, kitchen, dining room and terrace that all enjoyed views over the sea. The private beach is brilliant - we had much fun in the sea kayaks! Plus the local area is very beautiful with may lovely areas and brilliant walks. We enjoyed eating in, but also ventured to the local cafe and Parua Bay tavern for food. Finally, a word for our hosts - Raewyn was so kind, welcoming and friendly, it really made for a very special few days - thanks!

Location 10/10, Accommodation 10/10, including gourmet kitchen and luxury linen, outdoor activities 10/10, privacy 10/10 ( Mick Jagger would feel at home here), hospitality 10/10. Can't wait to get back. If you want the perfect relaxing holiday, this is for you. More beautiful than the photos suggest. We stayed here for 5 nights in January 2015. The location is stunning, looking down on the private bay. The house is well equipped, very comfortable and some really nice touches like a bottle of wine, some milk and cheese really go down well. We also had stunning weather which makes it even better. This is a great place to get away from it but even our teenagers had a great time on the water off the private beach. We would definitely return.
