Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I absolutely loved my stay here. I went to sleep listening to the sound of the waves and woke up to see dolphins swimming in the bay. It's a great place to experience village life in the Solomon Islands, it's quiet and relaxing but also easy to get to and from Honiara. My hut was large with a double bed with mosquito net and also an ensuite bathroom with lovely water pumped from their own borehole. Lighting and charge for my phone and camera came from solar power which was consistent and reliable. Kuvien is a great cook of very generous portions and I never felt hungry. The sea is really warm and there are hammocks for relaxing. I bought a local SIM card although the reception was variable although I always managed to have access to emails and whatsapp messages. There was an option to use wi-fi that I think you had to pay for. I will miss all my chats with Kuvien over breakfast, I definitely recommend staying here, I would love to go back

I stayed at Dolphin View Beach for 6 nights at the end of December 2018. Alistair greeted me at the airport and had arranged for an easy transfer from the airport to Dolphin View Beach. Accommodation is right by the beach, you can see the dolphins jumping in the morning and easy to go for a swim or snorkel. Although the beach doesn't look beautiful, it has a lot of coral and tropical fish to explore when you go snorkeling. Lots of beautiful plants and flowers all over the property. It is also close to the Vilu War Museum for people interested in World War 2 history. Facilities at the accommodation are very basic, if you are looking for a 5 star luxury hotel, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to stay with friendly warm-hearted locals, then this is definitely the place for you! Breakfast, lunches and dinner were all delicious and big sized portions. I was often given peanuts to snack on between meals. I never went hungry. Kuvien and Esther were always helpful and friendly at meal times and I had lots of good talks and discussions. Everyone went out of their way to help, when I needed to charge my smartphone, they would turn the generator on and when I couldn't get internet access, I was given a local SIM card. On my last evening, there was a huge tropical storm which caused a lot of damage with trees falling all over the road. Alistair arranged for a local boat to take me to Honiara, so I could still be able to get my flight which was a lifesaver. At the end of my stay, everyone came down and waved me off when I left on the boat and it is a very happy memory I will take with me.

We discovered Dolphin View Beach purely by accident while driving west from Honiara for a day trip. The property which is located on the beach front approximately 25 km from Honiara currently has one traditional leaf bungalow suitable for three people. You can visit for the day or stay overnight.

We stayed for the day, paying the typical SBD50 entrance fee. Alistair and his family were the perfect hosts - moving the table and seats under a shaded tree for us, setting up, cleaning and lighting the BBQ, and even bringing out a table cloth to cover the table. The property is clean and well maintained, the beach is pristine, and the dolphins in the bay put on a nice display for us just 300 metres from shore.

If you are looking for a five star hotel with swimming pool then this is NOT the place for you. But if you are looking for a peaceful, back to nature experience complete with shared outdoor toilets then you should come here.

Thank you Alistair. We will be back and will definitely bring friends with us next time.

Alistair and his family are so helpful the cabins are so clean and the meals are lovely.
This is an eco place so no mains electricity but who needs it in a place like this wonderful views from the room over the ocean, if you need to chill out this is the place. Take reef shoes if you want to swim as coral is sharp getting in.

Thanks Lee ( John ) and Sara

We stayed 3 nights at Dolphin View Beach and enjoyed all the seconds of our stay. We were picked up and greeted by Alistair at our previous accommodation in Honiara. After our stay we had an airport shuttle from Dolphin View beach to the airport which was organized well too.
Accommodation was very clean and comfy, it is just right on the beach.
Snorkel: the house reef just off the beach has many fishes and beautiful corals.
Dining: Breakfast and Dinner were really good. Dining table was always well decorated and completely clean. Food was plenty, I was always full.
Hosts: Super friendly, lovely family.
Kuvien, Alistair's wife was an excellent host, she studied tourism and she really knows what it means to do good tourism. When you need privacy, you have it., When you want to hear nice stories about Solomon islands and it's culture you can hear it.
If you are lucky Tavu the Cockatoo will be around.
I will definitely come back.

Amazing. but be aware: there is no AC. In room there is no power outlet to charge anything(have to charge in the kitchen area). There is no hot water. But anyway this place and the owners are so charming that you will fall in love with them.

The best place to stay if you want to experience the real Solomon Islands! Familiy owned by Alistar and Kuvien, who are superfriendly and go out of their way to make your stay great! The bungalow has a very comfortable bed and is completely covered in a mosquito-net.

Every morning Kuvien served us breakfast on the porch and we were always accompanied by a group of dolphins swiming nearby! We literally saw dolphins every day!

There is great snorkeling at a big coral reef just by the beach, and there is also a shipwreck and a plane that you can snorkel around! We even saw a reef shark just a few meters out!

A special thank you to Alistar who drove us around the entire city of Honiara in search of a camera lens! So nice of you! Alistar and Kuvien also helped us to find the right bus to Visale (a small village nearby)!

Dolphin View Beach is a very cosy, beautiful and friendly place - perfect for those who love the nature and ocean, and want to experience the real Solomon Islands!
