I found the hotel quite easily-- it is well signmarked throughout the pueblo-- but found it locked. I called the number on my cellphone and, after some incoherent conversation with a staff member who spoke no English, waited for her arrival. She patched me through to the English-speaking manager, who was in Barcelona that day, but who straightened everything out for me.
The rate is fairly high for such a remote place (79 euro), but there is a substantial midweek discount (53 euro). The spa rate is even higher (110 euro) but, in their defence, the quality of the facilities is extraordinary. While I perhaps wouldn't have minded the spa, I was really seeking a comfortable bed and shower: in 2007 I had stayed at a very very spartan pension nearby, and wanted something a bit more upmarket. The hotel is in a nobleman's townhouse, and has been recently totally redone-- the bathrooms alone are worth the price. Sheets and toiletries were of high quality, such as would not disgrace a five-star hotel.
I was the only guest, but they arranged for a staff member come in to prepare dinner for me-- it was a pleasant and hearty stew, followed by a light dessert which just hit the spot. Service was graceful, informal and professional. Free internet was available.
The staff took the trouble to prepare me breakfast the next morning (this cannot be guaranteed in Spain) to set me on the way for a light walk (only 14km) to Balaguer.
After the initial confusion on my arrival (quickly resolved), the service and facilities were of the highest standard. This has been one of my best stays in Spain.
