We spent one night at this wonderful small hotel. It was one of a few stops during a driving vacation from Madrid to Barcelona. This converted rural house has the feel of a luxury 5 star hotel. We were welcomed by property manager Maite, who greeted us warmly and gave us a full tour of the property. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom with double sink and large walk in shower. The basement floor has a pool and sauna which we enjoyed in the early evening before dinner. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the dining room and full breakfast the following morning. We had a very relaxing stay and wished we could have stayed longer. Maite is a wonderful hostess and arranged a winery tour and tasting at nearby Castell del Remei the day of our departure. We hope to return to this part of Spain in the future and spend a few days at this great location. It is a great base for exploring the Lleida countryside. We were all pleasantly surprised by this gem of a rural hotel!

I arrived after a long hot walk over the Catalan plains, my only shade an occasional fruit tree and my only refreshment pomegranates provided by hospitable and friendly Mauritian farm labourers. Linyola is a charming if parched market town in the middle of nowhere, about 2 hours' drive from Barcelona, but seven hours on foot from La Panadella.

I found the hotel quite easily-- it is well signmarked throughout the pueblo-- but found it locked. I called the number on my cellphone and, after some incoherent conversation with a staff member who spoke no English, waited for her arrival. She patched me through to the English-speaking manager, who was in Barcelona that day, but who straightened everything out for me.

The rate is fairly high for such a remote place (79 euro), but there is a substantial midweek discount (53 euro). The spa rate is even higher (110 euro) but, in their defence, the quality of the facilities is extraordinary. While I perhaps wouldn't have minded the spa, I was really seeking a comfortable bed and shower: in 2007 I had stayed at a very very spartan pension nearby, and wanted something a bit more upmarket. The hotel is in a nobleman's townhouse, and has been recently totally redone-- the bathrooms alone are worth the price. Sheets and toiletries were of high quality, such as would not disgrace a five-star hotel.

I was the only guest, but they arranged for a staff member come in to prepare dinner for me-- it was a pleasant and hearty stew, followed by a light dessert which just hit the spot. Service was graceful, informal and professional. Free internet was available.

The staff took the trouble to prepare me breakfast the next morning (this cannot be guaranteed in Spain) to set me on the way for a light walk (only 14km) to Balaguer.

After the initial confusion on my arrival (quickly resolved), the service and facilities were of the highest standard. This has been one of my best stays in Spain.

This a small traditional small hotel tucked away in a side street. It is in a very quiet location. I was here early March when it was very cold but the rooms have underfloor heating and are very warm. The food was like fine dining. It was delicious. We had a four course set menu and it was truly wonderful. .The service was friendly. Breakfast was fresh bread and cold meats. There is a lift to the rooms and dining area.

An amazing small hotel in the heart of Linyola. Staff are friendly, rooms traditional Spanish and clean. But the hidden gem is the restaurant with what I would deem is Michelin star quality. The service is professional and helpful.

The hotel deserves all the praise for its stylish conversion. Unfortunately the new management is rather slapdash. Although our room was booked we had to wait for an hour to get the key to the bedroom without much of an apology or even an offer of any refreshment. The manager/chef only opens the restaurant 4 evenings a week. We asked him whether there was another restaurant in the village."No, the nearest is 5km away" We went for a walk and by chance stumbled on Amaco a super restaurant that we really enjoyed. We thought it was very petty behaviour from the manager. We also had the feeling he did not care about the hotel side only his cooking and the restaurant.
