Detailed Reviews
Lovely building set in impressive grounds. Ample free parking.
Helpful staff who tried very hard to understand our English! The following day a very nice English speaking lady was on site which made things easier.
Very spacious rooms with all amenities.
Comfortable bed and a large well appointed bathroom.
Nice alfresco breakfast was served around the ornamental lake.
Alcohol choices were very limited, possibly due to the Covid crisis. Also food choices were limited possibly for the same reason which is a shame.
The peace and quiet was occasionally shattered by the sound of a passing Train.
A short walk into Barsac village.

Was worried after reading the reviews about noise from the railway and, yes, the domain is VERY close to the tracks... BUT, honestly you barely hear the trains so not a problem at all for us (perhaps more of a problem in the summer when you spend more time outside or with the windows open). Loved the big room - at least 70 square metres not counting the bathroom. Had a little kitchen (American) with mostly what you would need but no cooking pots or pans and the fridge did not work. Only ate dinner once at the domain but the food was excellent (recommend the pave de boeuf), the waiter friendly and prompt and the environment nice enough - only disappointment was the red wine but maybe we had been tasting too many top quality wines that evening. Breakfast was a simple continental style but the baguettes and croissants of very good quality and the expresso machine fine enough to have pleased George Clooney. If you like medieval towns, recommend a visit to Saint Macaire and Rions nearby, and for castles well worth a visit to Roquetaillade about 20 minutes drive away. Several little restaurants in the local town of Cadillac - we ate at L'entrée du jardin which was a little expensive (40 Euro menu) but really excellent. The staff recommended L'érable but we didn't try it so cannot comment. Great wine tasting experience at Chateau de Rolland where the co-owner (with her brother) gave an excellent presentation and explanation of her small production (and Yes the wine was superb).

Like fellow reviewer Conor K, we stayed here on a living social deal which we understood to include a gourmet meal, B&B, wine and foie gras gift and a wine tasting at the local Chateau de Bouade, specialising in Sauternes.
Had we received all the above, it would have been outstanding value. However, the domaine is really more of a business/reception centre aimed at corporate events and wedding parties - there is no bar; the dining room is part of a larger conference/meeting room and curtained off so that you can hear the speeches and slide presentations of corporate events whilst you are breakfasting. And, due to the lack of private guests, there is very little atmosphere. We felt as if we shouldn't have been there - on our last morning (we stayed 3 nights) the tables had been cleared by 845am and there was no one else having breakfast. The waitress started clearing the table cloths while we were waiting for our coffee, as if to hurry us along. There was no choice of yogourt ( we were simply handed 2 pots of supermarket bought yogurt: 1 natural; 1 vanilla); the croissant was cold, not warm. You get the picture......
The gourmet meal was good but we were charged for it when we went to check out. When we questioned this, we were told in no uncertain terms that the meal was not included in the living social deal, despite the voucher we presented. After endless argument, the manager finally agreed to charge us only for one meal and said he would send the wine and foie gras gift to our home. The arranged tour of the vineyard turned out to be a "do-it-yourself" trip - we were handed a small slip of paper with directions to the chateau and arrived 15 minutes late, having waited in reception for someone to collect us.
All in all, not a great stay. However, the setting is very pretty and would be a great place to get married! Just make sure you have everything agreed in advance in writing.

We just spent 2 nights in frame of a wedding, and we enjoyed the Domaine for this short stay. The Domaine is very pleasant to walk in, not big, and the room we had was very spacious. We missed any specific leisure accomodation, such as swimming pool. The dinner outdoor was very romantic. We do not recommend for a long stay, 1-2 nights.

If you want a break from travelling those french motorways or if you are interested in wine, take a well earned stop here. The hotel is set in its own gardens adjacent to the village of Barsac and the railway. We had an intriguing room under the bell tower, with adjacent living room and bathroom. Lots of space, very clean and sympathetically modernised. The grounds are beautiful. You can sit out on the terrace and enjoy views of the garden with a glass of Sauterne in hand. What could be better, oh yes, a lovely evening meal in their huge restaurant.
Don't bother with the breakfast though.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel luckily on a reduced price voucher, but even if we had not it would still rate the same reviews. Like most of the other people who have written overall the experience of staying there was very relaxing .. The staff at the hotel were keen to please with nothing to much trouble. We also took advantage to having one evening meal at the hotel which was well cooked and presented .
The warm Foie -Gras was to die for and possibly one of the best I have ever tasted. The wines which were included in the price of 45 euros were a Grand Vin standard. We stayed in room 12 which overlooked the front of the hotel. It was a very large room , If you were a family ideal but a little sparse for two with a fairly small bathroom with a shower . Our friends had room 8 which over looked the other side. This was divided in two with a sitting area separate from the bedroom. Although smaller it had a bath in a larger bathroom. Both rooms had a kitchen area. You can hear some slight train noise but after a bottle of local wine it is hardly noticeable. All in all a great experience and one if I could I would gladly experience again.

Stayed at the end of August for 2 nights. Been given a suite with living room and a bedroom.
The service was more than attentive and very very friendly. Yes there were trains passing by but nothing like mid-night or early in the morning. We barely noticed any noise.
Barsac was not the main stop so you are suggested either to drive or have to check the train schedule from Bordeaux carefully. But the hotel is literally right behind the train station. Less than 5 mins walk.
We had the dinner at the hotel on the first night and it was excellent. Chef was nice and did the duck breast justice. He asked us what we would like our duck cooked and we got what we wish for. Perfect. Your table will be laid in advance and facing the right view.
For Euro 35 per person, you get a 3-course dinner, 1 bottle of sparkling/still water, glass of aperitifs sweet wine and a bottle of red/white. The tart tartan was so far the best we had in France. Way much better than anything you got in Paris' touristic areas. Money well-spent.
The wine tour was held at a boutique vineyard. Nothing spectacular (no machine, no walk-through the vineyard) but really cosy. You would be given at least 2 different years of sweet wine to try and feel free to ask for a top-up.
Breakfast - plenty of supply - it's not a self-service buffet but that exactly what service meant. Again, all tables were laid in advance with a basket of bread and if you finish it, the lady will come and ask you if you want some more. Choice of jams, honey and butter. Free flow of orange juice (ask when you finish it) and tea and coffee. It's definitely not mean.
It may not fit for those who are used to chain hotels such as Holiday Inn or Hilton but it's a lovely small hotel and gives you more than you need.

+1
Spent 1 night at Domaine Valmont and wish I could have stayed more. The place is a beautiful property with an ancient building that opens to an terrasse with fountain and garden. It has 20 rooms, a restaurant and they also host weddings. We've chosen to stay at the handycap room because the price was very close to the regular room but this was much bigger. Comfortable bed, sofa, TV and renovated bathroom.
We had dinner at the hotel, which was also very good. $35 euros per person was very reasonable because included a mise en bouche, home made foie gras as entree, baked hake with vegetables and potatoes gratin as main course, chocolate caramel moelleux as desert, plus water, sautern an graves wines included (whole bottle). Breakfast was also correct.
