Welcome to the West Coasts funkiest, couple focused, quirky tourist park. With some of the worlds most beautiful and rugged coastlines Ross Beach TOP10 is situated on the edge of the Tasman Sea. “Absolute beachfront” doesn’t do this location justice! Set on 6 landscaped acres this is a purposefully designed RV park offering spacious, level, powered and unpowered sites and 11 quirky, up-cycled and converted shipping containers, or as we like to call them “ Pods”. Plus 4 Geodesic Glamping Domes. Opened this season. Each accommodation has been individually designed and all offer a great nights sleep. The Domes, the Maxi Apartment, Sunset Studio & Tui Studio Pods are fully self-contained, whilst the remaining Whanau Pod has full access to the communal amenities of camp kitchen, ablution block, and guest laundry. Come and experience their unusual amenity whilst being at one with nature.

We stumbled across the Ross Beach Holiday Park a couple of years ago and this is our second visit to this magicl location right on the beach with super friendly and welcoming hosts.
The pods are superclean and comfortable with everything you need plus more and the beds are extremely comfortable. Enjoying a beer and a pizza in the communal garden area as the sun goes down is a magical experience.

My wife and I spent the last two days at this Top 10 Holiday Park in our Camper Van. The accommodations were excellent. Staff was very friendly. The Friday night home made wood fired pizza and your choice of beverage was a great way to meet the other campers as well as the owners/cooks while watching the waves crash on the beach and watching the sun set

We will be back!

Our first accommodation on the West Coast Wilderness Trail, and I'm sorry it wasn't our place for the whole trip. We were in pod 2, the one with the stone front. Well, what a little charmer this place was.
The bed was absolutely cloud like, the linen was 5star. Included was a continental breakfast that was delicious. They even provided glass bottles of fresh milk and orange juice. (not the nasty UHT stuff). and even had a Nespresso machine with 2 coffee pods. Our hosts were so friendly, and went above and beyond our expectations. Will definitely be staying here again

This is a multi-purpose campsite with RV areas and individual ‘cabins’ - plus glamping type pods under construction.
We stayed in a cabin with a fantastic sea view and nice decking area plus an outdoor hot tub. However, the ‘cabin’ is actually a long box with floor to ceiling glass walls and no room to move. The gap between the end of the double bed and the front glass wall is about 15” and impossible to walk easily past to get to the bathroom. Carpet on a bathroom/toilet floor is never a good idea for obvious reasons! There are several high end appliances including a milk frother, but very little in the way of pans and utensils - and only a 1 ring mobile electric hob (kept in a drawer). We were glad of the electric heater as it was extremely cold overnight with so much glass and blinds providing no insulation.
There is a communal kitchen and lounge area (which we didn’t use) and a good sized laundry area (2x 2$NZ per wash/dry load) which we did.
The campsite is at the end of a very long, straight road which isn’t really walkable (especially in the dark) so a visit to The Historic Empire Hotel requires a designated driver.
Sue, the site manager is very friendly and helpful but the site seems much more suited to campervan travellers than visitors like us who are touring and staying in B&B/motel accommodation. In comparison to the many other places we’ve stayed on this trip, this was the poorest value for money in terms of accommodation, but the best in terms of the view.

Hi Philip, Thank you for your feed back, we welcome all, as it’s a constructive way to move forward. I’m so sorry to hear that you didn’t really enjoy your “tiny home” experience, our Sunset Studio is as photographed and is based on a 20ft shipping container, so we have to work with the size it is. Hope you enjoy the rest of your New Zealand trip. Please be mindful that most rural areas do not have street lights when off the main roads and a short walk (3km) in the day can take a lot longer at night. Take care Sue

This is a beautiful little coastal campground nestled away right beside the rugged west coast beach, great little facilities, let down by disappointing terms and conditions. When confirming an accommodation reservation at Ross Top10, it is absolutely non changeable and nonrefundable. You can pay an additional $15 -$30 booking fee above and beyond the tariff they call a “Flexi rate”, however the option to make booking changes or cancellations up to the day prior to arrival is generally the industry standard and FREE at almost all other holiday parks.

Hi Steve, glad you enjoyed our wee holiday park. I’ve reviewed your reservation (if you are the same Steve Wilson that stayed with us in Feb 23). And can see that you paid for a powered site and booked direct. This had the standard TOP 10 terms and conditions of 25% cancellation fee 72hrs or more before arrival. We do have flex rates which allow for 100% refundable 24hrs prior to arrival. I hope you can find it in your heart to change the 2 star review to reflect that you had enjoyed your stay and was not in any way penalised by our terms and conditions.

Spectacular beach views, solitude, peaceful, comfortable accommodation, very clean and affordable. There are no refunds however, not if the weather closes in or even if you simply change your plans, not unless you purchase their additional $15 -$30 FLEXI RATE above and beyond the tariff. Other nearby Top10 Holiday Parks in the area offer a full refund right up to, and even during day of check in, no questions asked.

Andy and Sue have really worked hard and built this place up beautifully from a remote beach into a spectacular holiday park on a West Coast Hideaway. This is a wonderful place to stay.

Hello Professional1000, So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us here, but I’m a little confused as to why only the 3 bubbles? The flexi rate is offered to allow for a super flexible purchase, just like travel insurance… it covers everything, no questions asked. But we’re glad to see you loved our wee slice of paradise 😊 Take care Sue & Andy

Wonderful location on the wild beachfront with amazing sunsets. I stayed in a Sunset pod with a luxurious deep bath on the front deck. The room was modern, clean and well appointed. The pod was a reused shipping container which was a great idea. The room does not have a tv, but who needs it with so much nature and freedom on your doorstep?? If staying here bring in your groceries as it is isolated but thats what makes it so special. This was my second time staying and hopefully not my last! The owner is a lovely man and I enjoyed my chat with him.

A memorable romantic getaway in our sunset studio pod as part of our honeymoon road trip. We arrived at sunset and took a wander to the beach, which was stunning and romantic. The studio had great amenities and sweet romantic touches like an outdoor bath with a view of the beach through the trees, two dressing gowns and the cutest little bottle of milk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Not as flash as other Top 10's but clean, well managed and good location. The other options in Hokikia are a bit woeful so this provides a good, clean stop over on a trip up or down the coast. You know what you are going to get with a Top 10 but do pay top $ for it. The beachfront van sites are good but seemed a bit much to pay the same price as a powered site for what was essentially a spot in a carpark!

The cabins at this awesome Top 10 were converted containers, all very private as each cabin was surrounded by native flax bushes. The cabins were laid out perfectly, really comfortable beds with a kitchenette and great showers, right on the edge of NZ’s Wild West Coast. The Hosts were amazing, to the extent of transporting us 2.5kms there and back to the local Pub for dinner

Hi, Is it safe to swim in the sea in front of the holiday park? Thanks
Answer from Sue S
Ross, New Zealand3 contributions
Hi Josquick, I would generally say no, beware of the undertow and steep drop off from the beach. Having said this if you are here on a calm, flat ocean day, we have had guests swim😊 But as a rule of thumb the West Coast has some pretty wild seas! Hope this helps Sue
Answer from Sue S
Hi Lee, some of our containers do, others don’t. If you’d like a shower and small kitchenette in your pod please book any of the following; Sunset Studio Apartment Pod Maxi Apartment Pod Studio Apartment Pods All of these pods sleep a maximum of 2 guests. Hope this helps Kind regards Sue
