We spent 3 glorious months at Panama’s Punta Chame Club and Resort.
The apartment or casita we stayed in and the resort itself, had all the amenities one could possibly want. From the 75’x 30’ pool , state of the art workout room, lounge chairs, covered patio, bbq and outdoor dining area to indoor stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, 55” tv, fast reliable wifi/internet, king size bed, air conditioning and more, we wanted for nothing.
Our hosts Deborah and Wayne were always available to meet any requests we might have. They maintain the beautiful property very well and are always working on something to exceed their guests expectations.
The Classic Rock Lounge was available during the day for music, meeting with other guests for cocktails and potluck appetizers and in the evenings for games with anyone that wanted to keep the day festivities going.
A coin operated laundry area is available for guests that need to do a short or large load. Poolside showers and bathrooms are large and clean. The tiki bar, with swings, is a great place to hang out poolside.
There is a small “corner store” next door for liquor and basic necessities. A short walk will take you to a small outdoor restaurant. Cabs are a $5 ride into Coronado for groceries, shopping or restaurants. Fresh fish, vegetable and fruit stands are right around the corner from the main grocery stores.
Restaurants that you must visit: Luna Rossa Ristorante e Pizzeria, Las Bovedas and Gold Coast Brewing!
You could put a car rental to good use, if you choose to do so, but not a must.
We are planning our return in 2023 for more of the great hospitality, playdates and fabulous weather .

I spend two nights here with my boyfriend and this was very relaxing place to stay calm, with comfortable villages with all the things you need.
The place is secure, very clean, with many green areas. Wayne and Deb, were very kind with us. I recommended this place for sure.
It’s located in the beginning of Punta Chame. Closer to the beach, mountains, and restaurants.
You can practice sports around here and return just to stay comfy and relax.

I was looking forward to our "escape from the cold" in Panama and thought I had found the perfect place. One bedroom with all the mod cons. The website showed a nicely furnished, clean and modern unit. OUR UNIT WAS A SCUZZY DUMP. The worst unit in the whole resort (I saw the others).

The unit was FILTHY and DELAPIDATED. Black mold and dingy fixtures in bathroom, cobwebs, lights filled with dead bugs, fan chains covered in grease/dust, exhaust fan (which didn't work) coated with grunge/dead critters. Rickety cupboards with sketchy substances spilled on them, splattered dead insects on walls. Screens on the window (maybe) blocked with dust and debris. Windows that hadn't seen water in years. Stained/low quality bedding and draperies. A bed that was harder than Plymouth rock. This unit, I believe, had not received a spring cleaning nor maintenance in many years. I rewashed all the dishes on arrival. I borrowed a screwdriver from a resident and went about straightening/tightening fixtures in bathroom and kitchen, so things would stop falling off. I scrubbed it out entirely to try and eliminate the filth. Great start to a vacation.

There was no hot water in the kitchen for 7 weeks. They suggested lots of soap and the cold water to clean up after they couldn't figure out why. I boiled water on the stove to do the dishes. Pure luxury. Had sporadically hot/cold/low pressure showers the entire time. We had to buy drinking water for our whole stay. On the last week, management said it was okay to drink the tap water after they installed something. No water testing was ever done. Tried to charge us for cooking gas when it ran out (all that water boiling)
.
The units were advertised as having a washer/dryer but it was in fact it's a pay laundry that was located far away from the units. The guest's were banned from carrying our laundry through the pool area. I had to walk around to the back of the buildings with my laundry, dodging god knows what kind of critters. Management could, but not us. They didn't want to ruin the ambiance by the pool.

Can't tell from the web photos but the bedroom has no ceiling. It is a large room with walls separating the bed. All sounds reverberate because of the high ceilings. We had to creep about trying to keep quiet when the other was sleeping. Be warned, there are the barking dogs/crowing roosters behind our unit and they barked/crow all night.

Our unit, A1 had a door that led to the other unit A2. I could see through the gaps in the door frame and there was no insulation to buffer noise. A private conversation I had in our unit was repeated back to me a few days later. Very upsetting!. You could hear all that was said or done in the two units. A neighbour answered my hubby when he was talking to me in our unit. Manager said he knew it was an issue and he could get someone in to fix it. Never happened.

The furniture was old and cheap. The couch/loveseat was awful. Little padding and the exterior peeled away in pieces. We picked it off our legs/bottoms constantly and I swept up couch parts, daily. We did not have one proper chair to sit on. It was all wooden stools with no backs or padding on them. The bed side tables were 12 inches shorter than the bed and there was one small coffee table that wobbled. The only lamp, flickered and sparked when in use. We had a toaster oven and cook top. Poor equipment for people who like to cook. We had to ask for the use of a neighbours oven, often. The coffee maker was ancient and don't get me started on the slime that came out of the blender. E Coli breeding ground.

The site makes claim's there are activities at the Rock and Roll Bar. Not so. Like the pool, laundry room, BBQ area and gym, it all get's locked up at 6 pm because the management says the insurance to run it in the evening is too expensive. Insurance costs is a very poor excuse for why the entertainment area of a resort is closed. Very cheap on their part. There was absolutely nothing to do here after 6 pm.

I know from experience to let your concerns known. We did, over and over. We were given excuses like "can't do, this is Panama" or "you can't expect things to be like home". The handy man was ill equipped to deal with routine maintenance and treated all requests like a inconvenience. One day our water cooler started sending out hot water through the cold valve The handy man's fix....Unplug it..... Presto.....Problem solved. No more instant hot/cold water for drinks for us. Time to boil water again.

After weeks of broken this and that, a discussion was had with the manager. A few minutes later the manager responded, "thanks for the constructive criticism" . He then proceeded to rebuke my hubby and I for complaining. He said "he thought we might be unhappy because of our body language and that some people are never happy. They work their butts off trying to make things nice and he is so under appreciated". Then he said "what should we expect for a unit that was $1250 US and that there are no better units anywhere in the region for that price and it had a big TV". My expectations are to get what was advertised. I did not.

While we were at the Resort, the management team was working on an expansion project near the pool. There was a constant supply of contractors and visitors trudging through the pool area. It's hard to float away/relax with a good book when all you hear is the team yelling measurements back and forth and construction crews sizing the job and the women up. Totally ruined the ambiance and it was great timing for such a job. High season.

I witnessed a loud, heated argument by the pool about lack of maintenance and all the rules/regulations. The management team yelled at the complainant right in front of all in the pool and then proceeded to belittle them for complaining, just as he had done to us. The management lack the skills necessary to handle issues their customers bring to them. Rather than deal with the complaints professionally, they use excuses and bullying tactics to try and silence their guests. Overheard him joke to a contractor that he'd like to build a jail for the complainers. VERY DISRESPECTFUL.
On the up side, we met some simply amazing people who welcomed us into their little community. They made our dreadful experiences dealing with our sub-standard unit and the extremely incompetent management, almost bearable. We had plenty of laughs and fun going on outings, swimming away sultry afternoons and made our own entertainment with pot luck supper/game nights. The pool area is very nice (when open) and the gym is great (when open) and the complimentary BBQ useful (when open). We thank our new friends for making our stay one we won't soon forget.

Essentially,I urge all to STAY ELSWHERE!!! Punta Chame Resort is by far, the WORST resort we have ever stayed in. Our unit A1, which is owned by the manager, was absolutely TERRIBLE and the management team was 100% UNPROFESSIONAL!!
Customer service simply does not exist here.

I am sorry to see that this review has been posted as it is full of false accusations. Without going into the politics of everything these people along with” Would Not Go Back Even If Free” have allegedly conspired to start a smear campaign against us to ruin our reputation. All this has to do nothing with their stay at our resort rather than with their friendship with a disgruntled homeowner onsite. All our homes went through a “spring cleaning” just before the high season this year as we do every year. “Resort Fantastico” which is in Italian, but can be translated, stayed in the same unit, A1, as these people both before and after their stay. You can see for yourself how they feel about the resort along with 90% of the other reviews posted here. Punta Chame Club and Resort still remains the #1 place to stay in the area. It is true there was a door between the units A1 and A2 but this has since been removed and a solid wall between them. If you check the photos I have posted under Room/suite the third picture shows A1. In this picture the door, which has been removed, is still showing. We always try to be accommodating to our clients but it is impossible to please 100% of the people. This year was especially difficult for us as we were constantly trying to manage damage control due to gossip from unruly guests. Punta Chame Club and Resort has many satisfied guests that return 3 and 4 times to stay with us.

We would not go back even if it was free. The pool is nice but atmosphere and the owners poor attitude far out weigh the great pool.
We stayed here Feb/Mar 2015. The unit was advertised as an Executive style with full cooking facilities as built and furnished to North American, European standards.
This is not an executive unit. It was not well appointed. There was no Oven only a toaster oven. The pictures and amenities listed showed a proper stove and indicated Full Cooking facilities.
First issue we had was some of the cooking utensils were burnt and crusty. Many of the dishes needed rewashing before they could be used. The burnt utensils were replaced by the owner same day. They blamed the cleaners. They often did not take responsibility for issues.

You could see daylight thru the closed door. Certainly not North American Standards.
The unit we were in had a pass thru door to the next unit. This affected privacy in that we could clearly hear conversations next door and on one occasion I answered the neighbour thinking it was my spouse talking to me from our unit.
A few days into our stay I used the shower only to discover the shower mat which was clear had not been cleaned. Not only was it dirty it had black mold on it.

When I took it to the owner and complained he became belligerent and aggressive telling me that I should not complain as I was in a beautiful country with great pool. I never saw the mat again. When I asked about maid service for linens (which I expected for an executive resort) I was told I could get it for $30.00 American Dollars per time. With a minimum wage in Panama of less than $2.00 and an hour or two of work, this did seem quite excessive. When I removed the sheets to wash them I discovered stains on the mattress cover and Mattress I did not raise this with the owner as his behaviour when I complained the first time was so aggressive and blaming I was not interested in a repeat. Keep in mind I had to pay to wash somebody else’s mess.

The pool was closed between 5-6pm and did not reopen until the next day. When I questioned the owner I was told it was due to insurance. I however spent some time shopping for locations to stay next year and not one of the 10 places we checked out closed the pool at 6 pm all were open to 9 or later. One day the pool was not opened and the on-site manager was letting only certain people into the pool. No explanation offered.

The laundry room was another sore spot. The laundry room was also locked up when the owners left at 5 or 6 pm. One day it was locked at 3:30. When I mentioned to the owner that it was locked his response was “Yeah So?”. He did give me access but I was made to feel as if he was doing a favour.

Another issue is we ran out of propane to run the stove during dinner. The manager on site was out and therefore we had a lukewarm dinner. An executive resort would be checking proactively to ensure run outs do not occur. Our propane was replaced at 9 that evening however dinner was well past. The communal BBQ was inside the social and pool area and was inaccessible after 6 or whenever the owners left the site.

We were given access to the bar area to play cards twice a week for a short time however we each had to pay a dollar and could not use the air-conditioning. We opted to sit outside in-front of our units instead.

The majority of the units in our resort have ovens. There are only two that do not. We were not informed that you were in need of an oven. We would have gladly moved you into a unit that had an oven had we known. There was in your unit a stovetop with four burners, a toaster oven, microwave and a BBQ was supplied for your use in the social area for no extra charge. There is only one set of units that have a connecting door and since you left we have now taken into consideration your complaint regarding the noise and we have since removed the door and filled it in so there is no adjoining door and hence no more issues with the noise. I can assure you the shower matt (which is not standard in our units but had been purchased by a previous tenant) was cleaned before you moved in as I cleaned it myself. You say that you noticed it was dirty a few days into your stay. Is it possible that it could have become dirty through your own use? Regarding the cleanings it is explained on arrival that if you should want a cleaning lady there would be an extra charge for this. You are renting a house not a hotel and at the cost of $1250/month this works out to $41/day. You requested and expected me to supply a maid every second day to clean and change the sheets. This is unrealistic to expect this taking into consideration the rate you were paying. The pool is closed at 6 pm due to insurance reasons as there is no one there. If someone were to get inebriated and fall in the pool and drown at night or a small child could wander in and fall in. I would not like to find this the next morning. This is not an unusual procedure for local pools to be closed after dark. There are hours posted for the pool and the laundry room onsite. We were informed that if you did not receive what you were asking for which included a refund that you would ruin our reputation and no one would ever come here again. Thank you for following through with your threat. We refuse to be bullied.

We booked a 1 month stay at this resort last minute. Unit was quite true to the pictures posted ( except for no stainless steel appliances) but we found the other information on the listing that was posted at that time, up to interpretation. We were expecting a restaurant on site ( to be coming 2015- our visit Jan 2016) as well as a Hard Rock Bar. No restaurant and if the owners were on site they could/ would make you a drink from the semi-quasse bar. Neither my husband and I were comfortable with that.
The pool was exactly as was shown which was a blessing as with no other on-site amenities there was little else to do. The fitness centre was decently equipped but was only open bankers hours. Had to wait many mornings to gain access and it was closed again by 6:00 at night.
Location again is 1 of the many things described on the listing that was up to interpretation ( hence my title of this review).
The title of the posting describes this as a "Resort and Club" and that does lead you to some level of expectation but it really really is neither. ( I think the posting has changed somewhat since)
We were not 10 minutes from the beach at any point. Maybe 20 minutes minimum by car. If listing details had been accurate, we would have chose other accomadations.
There was a lot of tension and unease amoung the owners and tenants at this resort as well. Luckily my husband and I were able to avoid most of it but it still made things uncomfortable as it was such a small complex.
Now for some positive review :). We met 3 wonderful people ( and 1 puppy) while at this resort and we quickly became a "pack of 5". We planned pot luck evenings, we played cards, we had " Happy Hour" and we travelled all over the country of Panama together. These friends alone MADE OUR STAY memorable.
Giovanni was the grounds keeper maintenance man and he took such pride in his job. Lovely fellow who just smiled patiently at us while we tried a new Spanish phrase everyday.
We look at every trip/ vacation as an education so this trip educated us in the Grey Area of the VRBO ( or similar sites). I'm not sure that there was any blatant misinformation on the listing but there were alot of details left up to interpretation.
Would not rent again from these owners and that is a harsh thing for me to say.If things are posted accurately we will make our decision from that. Then there are no surprises for either parties.

We stayed at Punta Chame Club and Resort during the month of November, so the rainy season. The condo we had was clean and well appointed. Big beautiful pool and workout area was a big bonus. We were the only people in the pool a lot of the time! If you are looking for a beautiful spot in Panama away from the big city but close to exploring the beaches and shopping this is the place. The managers were fantastic and made our stay even more enjoyable. One of our favourite things to do was have coffee on our porch and watch and hear all the birds in the early morning. Recommendations would be: to change up the disks that make up the sidewalks and replace with stones as when it rains (and it rains) they become loose and wobble when you walk on them. The gardens are a BIG draw, they are nice, but more could be done. The pool needs to be cleaned more frequently. Overall, we loved our stay and hope to be back.

Only about 10-12 units so you get the huge pool and gym mostly to yourself. Right off the Pan-Am highway so pretty easy to find. Great value for what you get. It is a drive to get anywhere though so keep that in mind if you are a nervous driver or don't have transportation.

We had the pleasure of spending Christmas weekend at Punta Chame Club & Resort and we couldn't be more pleased with our accommodations, the social area's superb facilities (two of the more notable ones are a giant pool replete with twin dolphin water fountains and a gym that rivals any 5-star hotel), and, of course, the first-rate hospitality and service we received from the owners, Wayne and Deb; on top of all this, their rates for their rentals (the one we stayed in was newly remodeled and comfortably slept 5 people and a rambunctious 4-month-old puppy) are extremely reasonable, and it's only a short distance away from Panama City, so it's perfect for those who are looking to get away from the city's hustle and bustle but are pressed for time. I highly recommend Punta Chame Club & Resort; we definitely plan on returning in the very near future. Thanks again for a great weekend, Wayne and Deb!

I booked this resort because of the pool and exercise room. I had an accident and needed to get my strength and muscle tone back. Exercise room was stocked with all kinds of equipment! Wayne (the Owner) was more than willing to make sure I was using them properly, The pool is very large (I think it was about 38 Ft by 74 Ft) I swam everyday and did water aerobics. Other guests even joined in. It also has a volleyball net. Owners tried to have a barbecue night once a week and everyone bought their own main course and a dish to pass. Those were very enjoyable evenings. Our townhouse (one bedroom) looked just like the pictures. It had lots of drawers and closets. It was very clean and air conditioned. We never needed the air at night. If the townhouse was missing something, management had extra supplies on hand to give us or they bought it for us. They even have a laundromat on site. It's advisable to have a car since modern groceries, malls, & restaurants are about 10 to 15 KM away. Panama City is about and hour. Wayne & Deb were MORE than helpful. When we arrived Dec 17 there weren't a lot of guests so Wayne and Deb showed us around town and later played cribbage with us. We slaughtered them. It was a great experience! Sleeping was great and you don't need an alarm clock because the roosters (at surrounding properties) will wake you at sunrise. :) The rooms also had WIFI and satellite TV.
