I stayed here for 6 months while I was working in Reefton. This place has everything you need, including free wi-fi and washing machine. It's also a great price. Trevor, the owner, is very friendly and always keen for a chat. He also runs the movie theater which shows new release movies. This is great if you happen to be passing through Reefton on a rainy day.

Our one day stay turned into 4! Trevor is a terrific host and fly fishing instructor. We learned so much and were warmly welcomed to this unique and special little town. The accommodation is affordable, charming and relaxing. Be prepared for a good rest, some great conversation and (if you're interested) local fly fishing tips.

This backpackers has the most friendly hosts, and as another reviewer mentioned price is good, in fact it's the cheapest I've found in New Zealand for a comfy bed. You get free wi-fi, parking, a hot shower, laundry and you are really made to feel at home, -a cliché that's been said many times before but in this case is rather true.

If you are a fisherman like me, this place is strategically located if you want to fish the many great trout rivers around Reefton.

I spent almost two weeks at the Old Breadshop during my time in Reefton. Trevor was a fantastic host, going out of his way to make you feel at home. The accommodation is great for backpackers, hikers and fishermen or if you are just passing through the town as you explore the West Coast. It is located within a short walk to the main street so it is close to the supermarkets and coffee shops. There is free Wifi is a bonus. This is my first choice for accommodation in Reefton

With so many excellent ratings we had high expectations. The reality is that while the host is helpful and friendly the actual facilities are very average. The kitchen and bathroom are clean but otherwise the place could do with a spring clean. The kitchen has three old style hot plates. There is a clothes washer and Sky TV. It’s cheap as you can find.

Loved my stay here. Chris and Trevor are so welcoming and friendly. I felt right at home and there was a lovely fire to keep me warm, and a nice clean room and comfy bed to sleep in. Not only that but the price is very reasonable and the owners are so sweet and interesting.

In the morning my car wouldn't start so Trevor very kindly charged my battery for me for a couple of hours and made sure I was able to start it. Beyond grateful to him!! I am so thankful to have had such wonderful helpful caring hosts! Reefton is a charming little town and I had such a wonderful stay that is to the Breadshop Backpackers! Highly recommend!!

We arrived to Reefton and decided to give Trevor a call for any double rooms. Trevor was there to greet us before going fishing and gave us a tour.

And we loved it here. It has that homely feeling to it and its small enough to feel the part. Kitchen is well stocked and the wifi is super fast.

If youre looking for something posh, look elsewhere. Here you get mismatched furniture, good quiet sleep and simple living.

Thanks for the great review Christian. It was our pleasure to accommodate you. Our mismatched furniture I think fits us well. We are a bit mismatched ourselves in that we like meeting people and genuinely put the guest first. Thanks again, Cheers, Trev
