Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Paddy and Allan are very friendly hosts. Our ensuite room was very spacious and tidy. Breakfast was plentyful and consisted of both continental and cooked offerings.
The lodge is within only a few minutes walk to all cafes and shops.

Paddy greeted us warmed, showed us our rooms and got us settled. Very comfy room with bath. We enjoyed the public kitchen space to make a modest dinner salad. Do appreciate the small table and chairs in the room too.

If you ever stay in Reefton for the night make sure you get a room here. Paddy and Alan are just wonderful and friendly hosts. The rooms are very clean and the house is quiet. Everything you can imagine for your breakfast will be provided. What a lovely experience that was! Highly recommended

We booked by phone and were pleased to find the b&b was very clean, The bedrooms were spacious will private shower rooms, there is a very large and comfortable residents lounge with tv and tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is provided either continental or cooked.
The owners are very helpful an know the area well.We did however find that Refton was a small town that time had left behind.

Excellent value B&B in the quiet but historically interesting old mining town of Reefton.
Paddy and Allan were very friendly and helpful hosts. Very pleasant sitting room shared with other guests (a good way of meeting people), comfortable accommodation (although the bathroom was rather small) and very good breakfast.
Highly recommended

We made a last minute booking with Paddy over the phone after being recommended by another B&B who was fully booked. Nothing was a problem and when we arrived we were delighted by the accomodation which some might called dated but I call like a visit to my Nana's (trust me this is a massive compliment)
Rooms were lovely and had ensuites - no TV which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was lovely and the shared rooms were immacuately presented.
Loved getting a smooch with the little doggies - (only one lives on site) Made me miss my dog a lot!
Thanks Paddy - we will be recommending.

We stayed for one night at Quartz Lodge on a drive from Abel Tasman down to the southern alps.

The welcome received was very friendly from Paddy and Alan even though we arrived late in the evening. The B&B is spotlessly clean, the children were made to feel very welcome and a private lounge area meant we could relax and unwind.

The house itself is dated and ideally could do with some modernisation. This said for a one night stay it worked well for us.

On arrival we were surprised to find that our room didn’t have a flat screen or any tv. Nor did it have kettle or dining area as stated on the web site.
When I queried this, l was told that the error was the fault of Booking.com and all these facilities were shared..
The guest house had the information corrected, after I had booked.
Neither Booking.com, nor the owner of the guest house contacted me re the corrections.
This is not acceptable from either the outer or Booking.com.

I stayed here with my partner and we loved our time at Quartz Lodge. It was very homey and clean which is exactly what you want after travelling in the rain for so long.
The bed was comfy and there were even dressing gowns for us to use!
The hosts (plus the dogs) were lovely people and I really enjoyed chatting with Patty.
Thanks for a lovely stay!

It was very nice stay. Owners Paddy and Alan are so friendly and helpful people. Great breakfast. Lots of space. Highly recommended for everyone. It was a bit noisy in the morning from the road with open windows.
