Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Finally an opportunity arose to stay at the B&B and I can honestly say this will be our preferred go-to accommodation in Reefton going forward.
We were set up in the Vault Room, our en-suite was literally the space occupied by the original vault, vault door still in situ.
The room itself was well appointed, very clean and comfortable (I’m a housekeeper, I check where others might not!). The shared lounge and breakfast area just as lovely, the continental breakfast items more than enough.
Our host, Aaron, showed us what we needed to know then left us in peace, only a phone call and a few metres away should we have needed anything.
Loved it, 100% recommend it

If you had forgotten how and when you arrived at this B&B, it’d be like waking up the next morning sure that you were living it up in the nineteenth century. We had the pleasure of staying in the Vault Room which was our stand-out favourite accommodation of our NZ road trip – it was compact, cosy and infinitely charming. Breakfast was a pre-made affair…plenty adequate for the long drive that followed. If you’re thinking of going to/through Reefton, you won’t regret resting up here.

Lovely comfortable soft bed and pillows, lovely bathroom, very clean, lots of generous breakfast options, a supermarket right next door, easy walking to everything, kitchen well appointed with mostly everything you need, except more wine glasses, tea towels, and dishes drainer is needed. TV is quite tricky to use and bedroom tvs only had same channel (tv1) as the lounge area. Sharing the house with other guests felt a little awkward and having the cleaner come in to clean and prepare rooms for a good portion of the morning for new guests arriving, felt a bit intrusive. I dont know how they could get around that though.
All in all it was a lovely stay in a very quaint cottage.

We stayed for only one night as part of our South Island road trip. Kelly, our host, was welcoming and informative, guiding us to our room and giving a tour of the shared facilities and a history of the cottage. She also advised as to where to find a tasty and great value meal on a Sunday evening in Reefton! The room was large and warm, with a cosy sitting area and updated modern bathroom. The bed was comfortable and surroundings quiet. Breakfast was served next door at the Cafe and was fresh and well presented with superb coffee and a glowing coal fire. Easy (free) car parking outside the front door so after packing up before continuing our travels we strolled up and down the main street poking our heads into galleries, second hand shops and of course enjoying a tasting of the local gin! Well worth a visit!

Stayed here for 1 night and the rooms are all spacious and newly furnished. The shared kitchen is well equipped and there is a lovely patio at the rear where you can sit and relax. The interior has all been recently redecorated/ renovated and arguably the best b&b accommodation in Reefton.

A couple of places to have a drink in the Main Street and 2 supermarkets.

Some nice walks on your doorstep.

Excellent value for money.

Greeted by Kelly and Ross. They were lovely and made us feel very comfortable about treating the place like home.
Each room had its own historic decor. The bathroom we had was very modern (King)
Choice of rooms from smaller to king and queen rooms that were large!

Great kitchen and lounge area.
Courtyard too.
And comes with breakfast next door.

A trip through Westland should always keep a historical element to genuinely appreciate its significance and culture. The Reef Cottage Bed and Breakfast not only places you in the very center of historical Reefton, but also places you into a wonderful historical building, allowing you to keep a suitable setting for the duration of your stay and explorations beyond.
The hostess Kelly ensured you received a typically warm Westland welcome, providing not only a tour of the wonderful guest house which really made one feel they were being accommodated in historical style, but also ensured you were provided with all the local knowledge required for a stay in Reefton.
There are four rooms in this guest house, each with their own unique historical style. My own (the Queen Suite) had a delightful small lounge area having two large and wonderfully comfortable chairs along with a desk from which you could work. The bedroom itself (yes a separate room) contained a large very comfortable bed and dresser while the very roomy bathroom had not only a shower, but also a large deep bath, which was absolutely heavenly to soak in after each physically vigorous day exploring many of the local and surrounding tracks and places (including a ghost town).
Breakfast was an almost unheard of (for B&B's) cooked breakfast setting you off ready for a physically demanding day (or relaxing if preferred), and evening meals were well catered for at local hotels within quite easy walking distance.
A very well-appointed kitchen is also available for guest use, along with an absolute array of complimentary beverages made available (along with shortbread). Why would anyone want to stay anywhere else?

What an amazing town Reefton is, and the surprises kept coming. We secured this property after contacting Kelly and it delivered on every front.
Kelly is clearly passionate about ensuring her guests are not only made to feel very welcome but nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The Victorian themed bedrooms are contrasted with the very slick contemporary bathrooms.
The included breakfast was at the next door Cafe and was a perfect end to our stay here.
Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed here for a night in the Queen Suite. It’s an old building and retains much of its historical character. Although the suite is compact, the small attached (and private) lounge area meant we had adequate room. The bathroom is very modern and well appointed.
It’s right on the main street but it was quiet, and we were able to park right outside.
We very much enjoyed our stay here.

One of a kind B&B - lovely old cottage with beautiful rooms - furniture and fittings kept in age of home. Very clean. Well equipped bathroom with beautiful bath. communal kitchen extremely well equipped with breakfast supplies, coffee, tea etc. Communal lounge with TV and heating available. Situated right on main street but very quiet. Friendly hosts happy to advice on dining options etc. Definitely return.
